As the flames roared, Dean stared into their savage depths, remembering another fire….one that had shattered his world. Why did this hurt more?

Dean sensed Castiel moving toward him.

Cas, you got some damn nerve…..

Sam blocked the angel's path with a touch of his hand and Dean had never been more grateful for his brother's presence. He didn't want to hear a bunch of empty words. What he wanted was gone and the only comfort he had was the fact that at least Sam had gotten to know their mom. That thought made his pain worth it all.
