"That's not fair!" Salem said.

The God of Light tried to explain to Salem the balance between life and death. Countless others have made the same request but were dissuaded one way or another.

Salem would not listen.

He could have sent her back to the entrance of the fountain, but he realized that she would not give up. So he suggested:

"I will not bring him back to you, but I can take you to him"

Salem narrowed her eyes. "What do you mean?"

"When you die I'll make sure your soul reunites with his."

"You expect me to just live my life without him?"

"You'll be with him for eternity afterwards. What's a single lifetime?"

"...What guarantee will I have that I'll see him again?"

"My word."

Salem gritted her teeth. "Like I'll trust you." She turned around. "Perhaps your brother might be more generous."

Salem would ask his brother and possibly grant her request-just to spite him. Better take care of her now.

"Salem," the God of Light said. "Look over here."

"What-" Ozma appeared before her. "Ozma?"

"Salem," Ozma gave her a hug. "How'd you die?"

"What do you…" She looked around. Both of them stood in the middle of a empty white void in all directions. "Where are we?"

"The afterlife I suppose" Ozma shrugged his shoulders. "Wasn't expecting to see you so soon."

"I don't understand," Salem said, "I was with the God of Light then…" Her eyebrows furrowed. She got it. "Bastard killed me."

Salem explained to Ozma how the God of Light promised to reunite them and possibly murdered her.

"At least he kept his word." Ozma said.

"That does not give him the right to murder me," She looked up. "You hear that? I'll find a way out of here and kick your ass."

And so Salem and Ozma wandered across the afterlife. Salem swore revenge on the God of Light. Ozma was just happy to see her again.
