Red

Are you... still... in there...? You guys...

For a split second, time seems to be standing still, even though, it could also have been eternal. An endless moment, of horror and pain. It's all too familiar.

Nothing moves, there's no sound. Even the rustling noise of the wind through leaves has stilled. For a moment, everything seems to have stopped. There are only the faces, the faces of the people that were once his comrades. Once—not even a minute ago. And he still can make out some of them; their faces are so familiar, and yet, unrecognizable—reduced to nothing more than one of his many nightmares.

For a moment, everything seems to have stopped.

He closes his eyes; waiting, and perhaps deep down, even hoping. Hoping for a miracle that never comes. He doesn't believe in miracles; it's all useless.

He closes his eyes and prepares himself. Steeling himself for what he has to do—what he is going to do. Sealing away all the emotions that are not needed. For a split second, he let himself mourn. For a moment he let himself hope.

But then, it's over, the moment passes, and he opens his eyes.

Wind rustles through the trees. His heartbeat beats into his ears.

And time begins to flow again, plunging everything into red.

End.

Drabble for chapter 113.

Omg... the whole scene with Levi slashing his former comrades... Ugh, so sad. And poor Shadis... Nooo...

I hope you enjoyed this small fic.

All the mistakes are mine.
