Present-day.
The last four days have felt like the longest, and yet the shortest days of Izuku's life. Being in the hospital sucks. It's never been one of his favorite places, and it never really gets better.
You'd think that after getting himself beat up and injured so many times at UA that he'd be ok with them by now. But he's not. The beds are hard, there's never enough pillows, the room is always either too hot, or too cold, and the food is nothing to be excited about. Nore is the pain he's in or the number of times doctors and nurses come in to poke and prod and take his temperature. And he can't do anything alone. Can't even get up to take a piss without a nurse, his mom, or his boyfriend watching to make sure he's OK. It's humiliating. And not the type of thing he ever wanted to subject someone to, especially not Eijiro.
Speaking of Eijiro…
He's been by Izuku's side ever since he's arrived. It's been a blessing and a curse all wrapped up into one. Izuku's going insane. On one hand having him here has been nice. This is the most amount of time since they've graduated that they've spent together. Which is outrageously sad but not quite something Izuku has the time to think about quite yet. Eijiro's sweet and loving and makes sure Izuku's as comfortable as he can be.
But it feels like whenever he's not making sure Izuku's comfortable and happy, that they're arguing.
It feels like every little thing is setting Izuku off. The pain, the food, the lighting, his mom coming to check on him every day, and the fact that he never seems to find the time to scroll through his phone. And the way Eijiro constantly asks "are you ok?" makes him want to crawl in a hole and never get out.
He's sick of it! All of it. Everyone and everything about his situation could fuck off and die for all her cares. Well, not everything but a lot of things.
Ejiro's also started getting overly worried if Izuku started to mumble because somewhere in his mind he thinks that mumbling is the start of a seizure. He's also been getting moody if Izuku sleeps too much, or sleeps too little because he apparently being tired, or really awake means that Izuku's not feeling well.
Izuku almost wishes that Eijiro wasn't in the room when the doctor read off all of the potential side effects of the medicine he's taking. It's done nothing but make Eijiro worried. And no matter how many times Izuku tells him that he's doing alright and he's just trying to get comfortable or wants to rest his eyes, it's like Eijiro thinks he's lying or something. He bites his bottom lip and gets this look in his eyes that makes Izuku want to scream!
He constantly needs to keep reminding himself that Eijiro's acting this way because he cares and that he's worried. And that he should be grateful that he's here at all and that FatGum has allowed him to have so much time off work.
But he's fine dammit.
Inko is worse though. She won't let Izuku turn on the TV, or allow more than 3 people in the room at a time during visiting hours. She calls the nurse over constantly. Any time she thinks Izuku's "acting weird" she flags down a nurse. It's embarrassing.
And It's not just Inko and Eijiro that are pissing him off, it's everyone. His manager, his co-workers, his friends, the hospital staff… EVERYONE.
Izuku's starting to feel like an asshole. He's never been one to start drama or to create conflict. He's always been happy, upbeat, and "Japan's Sweetheart". He always has a smile on his face and geeks out whenever he sees his friends on the news or hears about their day. But lately, all he's been doing is snapping at people. And it feels everyone who has come to visit him is hiding something. As if the hospital staff or his manager has told everyone to only talk about the weather or about the awful hospital food.
Almost all his friends have visited him at least once, which has been nice, but the one person he's been hoping to come by hasn't shown up at all since Eijiro arrived.
Katsuki.
Hasn't called, or text or anything. And nobody seems to want to mention him at all when they come to visit. The most they say is "Bakugo saved you, right?" and as soon as Izuku says "Yes" they quickly change the subject. And because his mother seems so adamant about him not watching TV, he hasn't even gotten a chance to see if Katsuki's gone back to work. The Hero News Network used to mention him almost daily when they'd go over the crime stats. But since TV is apparently banned, he has no idea how he's doing.
And because the internet in his room sucks, and no one wants to give him the wifi password, Izuku hasn't been able to look up anything online either. And whenever she arrives Inko tries to move Izuku's phone to the other end of the room and tells him that he "doesn't need to look at everything right now.". It's annoying. Eijiro won't tell him what's going on either. He claims that he hasn't really looked at his phone despite all the times Izuku sees him talking on it. Although Izuku has a feeling when he goes back to his hotel room to shower, eat, and sleep that he takes the time to look over the news outlets. But whatever.
Izuku can't say he's surprised that Katsuki hasn't come by. Despite how nice and concerned for Izuku's well-being he was acting when Izuku woke up, they're not friends. At least not really. They never talk outside of work and absolutely never text. Why Izuku thought things would magically be different and they could possibly rekindle their friendship is just stupid. After he and Hitoshi left to go buy Izuku a phone charger, Katsuki seems to have gone ghost. Which Izuku guesses is for the best...he doesn't need all those lingering feelings and dead butterflies in his stomach to come back to life anyway.
If that fight he had with Eijiro six months ago taught him anything it was that being friends with Katsuki would just cause problems. Although that doesn't mean Izuku won't still try. Eijiro can't stop them from being friends. Just like Izuku can't stop Eijiro from being friends with Hitoshi. He may want to, but he can't. Eijiro's allowed to be friends with whoever he wants. Even if said friend is making it very obvious in Izuku's eyes that he wants to get into his boyfriend's pants. Izuku has no right to tell him to stop hanging out with him. It would make him seem like he doesn't trust Eijiro. And it would make Eijiro feel the way Izuku felt when Eijiro told him he didn't like him hanging out with Katsuki.
Well, maybe not the exact same way Izuku felt, Hitoshi and Eijiro aren't childhood friends with a long history, and they never fucked. But still! He could only imagine how upset it would make Eijiro feel to be told that Izuku didn't like them hanging out so much. So he'd never tell Eijiro to stop hanging out with Hitoshi so much.
But he wants to.
It's ridiculous how jealous Izuku is. He really shouldn't be. Although, Izuku's pretty sure that whenever Eijiro has to step away to take a phone call it's because its Hitoshi calling. They seem like best friends now. At least that's the impression Izuku and the entire country gets from their social media accounts. They're always in each other's Instagram stories and snapchats. Which is fine, really, it's fine. Izuku's happy that Eijiro has made a close friend. They are patrol partners, after all, they should be friends.
But their friendship rubs Izuku the wrong way. Especially because it was Hitoshi that stopped Eijiro from running over to the hospital the night he got hurt. What kind of friend tells someone whose boyfriend is in the hospital to get a good night's sleep first? Izuku saw the texts that Katsuki sent to him. Very little information was given to Eijiro about Izuku's condition, Izuku could have died for all Eijiro knew! Izuku would have never done something like that. He is very used to pulling all-nighters and would have gladly given up on a few hours of beauty sleep to go see his boyfriend in the hospital.
But apparently getting eight hours of sleep was more important to Eijiro than making sure Izuku was okay. He didn't even call. Must have been too tired.
Izuku isn't bitter.
He's pissed.
And it would be a lie to say that that incident didn't cause him to be moody and annoyed at his boyfriend's overprotective behavior. Maybe Eijiro feels guilty. He should, at least Izuku thinks so. He chose to rest instead of jumping on a train.
Oh well.
Izuku can't change the past. He can only try to focus on the present. And today is the day the doctor's going to tell him if he can go home or not. Maybe when he goes home he can finally find out what everyone's been hiding from him.
Because today's the day he's getting the news, Eijiro spent the night instead of going back to his hotel. They just finished eating breakfast when two knocks are heard at the door.
"Come in!" Izuku says after taking a sip of his drink.
Dr. O comes inside and gives Izuku a smile after looking at all of his monitors and charts.
"Today's the day! Did you sleep better last night? We gave you a smaller dose of the pain medication, you won't be able to keep having it like that when we send you home so hopefully you weren't in too much pain."
"I slept alright. Woke up a few times to adjust but nothing major." Izuku responds.
"Good, good. Well, I have some good news for you, Midoriya."
Izuku holds his breath and squeezes Eijiro's hand that has wrapped around his own. Hopefully, he's about to be told he's being discharged.
"You can go home tomorrow."
Izuku's heart drops. "Tomorrow? But I thought I was doing well enough to go home today?"
"You are, but…" The doctor raises his brows for a moment as he looks over at Izuku's heart monitor. Probably making note of how much Izuku's heart rate increased after hearing he wouldn't be going home today.
"We need to figure out who's going to stay with you. We can't have you going back to your apartment alone, someone needs to commit to being there."
Izuku swallows and looks down at Eijiro's hand, too nervous to look over at his face. They haven't really talked about how long Eijiro was going to stay for, and Izuku isn't too sure if Eijiro could stay with him. Or if he even wants him to...but he's pretty sure he'll offer.
"Can he stay at my place? Or does he need to be closer to the hospital?" Eijiro asks almost as if on cue.
"Hmm, we haven't really discussed that. Although I'm sure the hospital in Esuha City has doctors that are more than capable of tending to Mr. Midoriya's needs, we'd rather have him here."
Izuku glances over at Eijiro's downturned face. Izuku can tell his boyfriend isn't very happy about that. But there's not much they can do. Inko would also probably insist on getting a hotel nearby or staying with them if he stayed with Eijiro. And Lord knows how much of a disaster that would be if Inko tried to stay with him. Izuku would feel just as suffocated if not more so if she stayed with them at Eijiro's place.
"But if you or Ms. Midoriya will be staying with him, I'll need to know by the end of visiting hours today."
"And if neither of them will be staying with me?" Izuku asks so he knows all his options.
"Then we will make sure a nurse will be able to come by during the day and night to check on you. Your insurance covers it, we already had our people check."
Izuku hums as he nods his head in understanding. Either his mom or Eijiro stays or he gets a random nurse who he hopes the agency approves of to come by and "watch" him. Having a member of the hospital staff at his home slightly worries him. Although he's sure that whoever is chosen to go over there will be discreet, the last thing he wants or needs is the person taking photos of his apartment, or telling all their friends that they're taking care of Hero Deku.
"Okay, then I will let you know before five o'clock," Izuku responds.
"Very well." Dr. O says, "Oh, by the way, a member of your agency is here to see you. I know it's before visiting hours, but I gave them the OK to come up if you were alright seeing them."
Izuku sighs. It's just after eight-thirty, visiting hours start for everyone outside of Eijrio and his mom at eleven. Whatever his agency wants it must be important.
"Of course. That's fine."
"Great! I'll send her up"
Izuku nods his head before the doctor leaves the room.
"At least we've finished eating breakfast, right?" Eijiro offers with a smile.
"Yeah… let's just hope it's nothing bad." Izuku looks over at his boyfriend and sighs. "Thanks for always being so positive, Eiji."
Eijiro leans in to press a gentle kiss against Izuku's lips. "Of course."
Just as Izuku's about to lean back in for a real kiss, they hear another knock at the door. Darn visitors. It's been far too long since he and Eijiro have made out. Most of the kisses they've gotten to share have been so tame and boring. But, duty calls…
"Come in," Izuku calls.
In a matter of seconds, Saki comes rushing into the room and is wrapping her arms around Izuku's shoulders in a tight hug.
"Ohhhh I'm so glad you're okay!" Izuku whimpers a little from the tightness of the hug causing Saki to pull away and pull over a chair.
"Sorry! Didn't mean to squeeze ya! Also, my apologies, I've been rather busy these last few days...we have a lot to talk about."
Izuku takes in a deep breath to prepare himself. He's almost positive she's going to talk about how long he's going to need to be out of work, and how he's going to address the media. Since he hasn't really been on his phone at all, he can't imagine what people are saying about him.
"I want to start out by apologizing." Saki says, "I'm the reason why your mother and the hospital staff haven't really let you turn on the TV, and why I'm sure it seems like all your visitors have been hiding things from you."
Izuku's eyes widen looking between both his manager and his boyfriend. A mixture of anger and shock wash over him. They really have been hiding things from him! He knew it!
"What do you mean? Wh-whats going on??" Izuku says staring to feel a familiar sense of panic start to bubble up in his stomach.
"Well," Saki sighs, "There was a video taken of you and Ground Zero the day you got hurt. A fan captured a rather… romantic looking moment before the ambulance came."
Izuku's heart rate increases tenfold and the breakfast he just ate feels like it's going to come back up. Not again. Please not again. It took forever for the media to stop hounding him when the article in Quirk came out two years ago. Those photos of Izuku and Katsuki having a tickle fight haunted him for months and they caused unbelievable tension between him and Eijiro. Is this why Eijiro's been acting off?
"Okay… can I um, see it?" Izuku asks.
Saki nods before handing Izuku her tablet. The video starts out a little blurry at first, whoever took it must have been far away because the voice you hear in the background is rather faint.
"WHERE THE HELL IS THE AMBULANCE!?"
Izuku would recognize that voice anywhere. Katsuki sounds both angry and panicked. Seconds after you hear Katsuki, the person recording starts to travel at what seems like top speed towards the screaming because the next thing you see is a very clear image of Ground Zero.
And he's crying.
"Damnit, Deku! Y-you're not allowed to die! Not before… be-before I get to… f-fuck."
What Katsuki does next makes Izuku's heart skip a beat. Izuku's body is brought to Katsuki's chest in a tight hug. Whoever is filming must have a good camera because they zoom in at that moment, just in time to see a tear run down Katsuki's cheek.
"I need you to live, Shitty Deku. I'll, I'll never forgive myself if you die."
The hand not trying to cover the wound on Izuku's side comes up to his head to brush Izuku's hair away from his face. Almost as if they knew something big would happen, the camera zooms in once more and Izuku watches as Katsuki lightly presses his lips to Izuku's forehead. Izuku's mouth falls open, because holy shit! Katsuki just kissed him. Katsuki kissed him. Not only did he kiss him, but it was captured on film!
One would think the video would end there, but no. Not only did they capture Katsuki having a very private moment, but they also captured the ambulance coming. And everyone gets to see how Katsuki practically acted like a feral cat trying to protect its young. He did not want to hand Izuku over to the paramedics. It took two police officers and Ochako to hold him back when Izuku's body was placed onto the stretcher and he was told he couldn't ride with them.
When the video ends, Izuku's in shock. Total and complete shock.
"H-Holy shit." Izuku whispers. "I can't… I don't, when did?... oh my god."
Tissue is gently placed into Izuku's hand. Looking down at it Izuku feels confused for a moment but then quickly realizes that it was handed to him because he's crying. Tears are streaming down his face and dropping onto the blanket in his lap. Bringing the tissue to his face Izuku wipes his eyes and blows his nose. This all feels so unreal. This cannot be happening.
The silence is broken in the room after a few moments by Eijiro.
"Do you w-want your water?"
Water? Does he want water? What the fuck kind of question is that? He just watched his childhood friend/ex-lover cradle him in his arms and kiss his forehead. No, he doesn't want water! Izuku closes his eyes and takes in a deep breath, which causes him to realize that his mouth is dry. But really? That's all his boyfriend has to say right now?
Izuku nods his head, not trusting himself to speak and takes the water from Eijiro's hand. After taking a few large gulps of water he places the glass down on the tray beside him.
"Has e-everyone seen this?" Izuku asks.
"Yeah," Saki says slowly nodding her head. "The person who shot it sold it to the media the very next day. It's been playing nonstop on all the news stations and gossip shows."
Izuku brings his thumb and index finger to the bridge of his nose. This cannot be happening.
"So.. so now what. Do I need to make a statement? Or did you already do that? I mean," Izuku clicks his tongue, "It seems like you've made all my other decisions for me. Why did you guys keep this from me?"
Eijiro's hand reaches over to grab onto Izuku's but stops. His boyfriend looks scared, and like he's about to cry himself.
"We um, we… We didn't want this news to bring up your stress levels and um, make it harder for you to recover." Eijiro licks his lips, "The doctor told us we needed you to remain calm… added stress might make you fall into a coma or something…"
Izuku blinks his eyes a few times.
"A coma?"
Saki and Eijiro share a frantic look before Saki cuts in.
"Maybe not a coma… but we didn't want you to have anything else to worry about. You've already gone through so much, and we knew that hearing this would just make you freak out, and you might try to break out of the hospital to hurry on home to try to do damage control."
Izuku swallows. That makes some sense. Although he has grown up over these past few years part of him knows he'd want to try to fix things. Or at the very least try to talk things out with Katsuki to make sure that he's OK. Katsuki is probably livid right now. And it explains why he hasn't called or come to visit at all. The media is probably swarming the hospital and the outside of Katsuki's building just waiting to get a statement from him or to see him walking over to the hospital.
"So how are we going to fix this? Or are we just going to let it take its course? I'm probably not going to be able to go back to work anytime soon, so I guess that's one 'good' thing. I won't have to try to fight the media while I'm on patrol."
"Yes, you're right." Saki agrees, "by the way, about that, the doctors and the agency are recommending you take at least six weeks off to fully recover. The knife that stabbed you hit almost all of your internal organs. It's honestly a miracle you're alive."
Izuku lets out a heavy sigh. At least they didn't recommend he be off for six months. That would be awful. His ranking would drop like a lead hammer to the bottom of the list if he just stopped working. And the lower his ranking, the less he gets paid. He's going to need to keep his ranking high if he's ever going to pay off these medical bills.
"Okay, fine. But what are we going to do about Kacchan? I'm sure the entire country thinks I'm having some type of affair and that Kacchan is a homewrecker! I need to set the record straight. I'm not cheating on Eijiro!"
Eijiro's hand grasps his tightly this time and his lips touch his temple.
"Well, heh, that's good. But ah, that video actually hasn't hurt Kat's reputation at all," Eijiro tells him, "the media loves him right now. They got to see a side of him that no one has really ever seen. It's made him appear more human."
Izuku groans. Of course, everyone would love it. Katsuki was soft as hell in that video. He's probably super pissed that he was shown like that. He likely thinks that it makes him look weak and frail. Katsuki's had a "bad boy" reputation ever since he got captured by the league when he was fifteen. He's probably majorly freaking out right now.
"Okay, but what about Shindo? How is he taking all of this? Isn't he Kacchan's boyfriend?"
Saki and Eijiro both softly chuckle as if Izuku told a bad joke.
"Quake has never been very subtle about the other people he's slept with. He was also very quick to tell KO Magazine that he and Ground Zero are not dating." Saki looks down shaking her head.
"He also said something along the lines of 'Ground Zero is not my 'ball and chain.' he can do whatever he wants! '" Saki clears her throat. "It almost sounded like he thought Bakugou-san liked you or something with how supportive he sounded."
Eijiro raises his brows and runs his tongue over his teeth, looking rather annoyed as he adds to what Saki had to say.
"Yeah, supportive. I guess that's one way to put it. He made some rather asshole-like comments about how 'it's about time' Bakugou stopped moping and 'got his man.' It pissed me off if I'm being honest."
"Gosh" Izuku nervously chuckles, "Sounds like a PR nightmare."
Saki starts to laugh. "Oh, Midoriya, you don't even know the half of it. Miruko almost fired him for that comment. She and her agency have been playing damage control all week."
Izuku narrows his eyes and cocks his head. Saki responds before he's able to ask.
"I've been having meetings with Quake and Ground Zero's managers. Quake's manager told me."
Izuku merely nods his head. Of course, she's been meeting with them. They need to get their stories straight. Izuku wants to curl into himself. He feels like he's made a mess out of everything. If he would have waited until Katsuki arrived before he went into the mall things may have ended very differently. But he just had to try to save everyone and takedown Sleeper and The Magician himself. It was stupid. So, so, stupid. It's his fault that he's in this position. And Katsuki's probably on the verge of a breakdown from how fucked up everything is.
Why would Shindo say something like that? Did he want to try to make Katsuki look like he's in love with Izuku? Does he want Izuku to look like a cheater? He does realize that Izuku's been in a committed relationship for the last year and a half, right? Izuku isn't Katsuki's man. He's barely even his friend. The only people who know that they used to have a thing with each other are the people in his old class and lord knows none of them would spread that around to the media. Not even Mineta would be that stupid.
Unless Katsuki told Shindo about their history. But either way, Katsuki can't like him like that, he just can't. It would be absolutely foolish if Katsuki still had feelings for him, and Katsuki is not foolish. He's smart, and he's level-headed. He wouldn't allow himself to have a pointless crush on Izuku. It would be a waste of his time, and Katsuki never wastes his time. At least not like that.
Right?
Izuku tries to shake the thought out of his head. It's a dumb thought anyway. Izuku has a boyfriend. Who he likes. At least he thinks he does, he wants to, so he does… just because things have been less than ideal and he's been jealous as hell about him and Hitoshi doesn't mean he doesn't like him. And Eijiro clearly likes him. He wouldn't be here if he didn't. But Izuku's not stupid. He knows that he's upset by all this. Izuku knows there are hundreds of words being left unsaid over this situation. Eijiro is biting his tongue because Saki is here and because Inko might come back. He's probably filled to the brim with thoughts and worries.
Ugh. Why? Why is this happening to me?
"Midoriya-san?" Saki says. "Are you alright? You've been rather lost in thought."
Warmth washes over Izuku's face as he gives her a shaky smile. Hopefully, he wasn't mumbling.
"Ah, heh, yeah. It's just a lot to take in, y'know?"
Saki knowingly nods and shifts her gaze over to Eijiro for a brief moment before connecting back with Izuku.
"Midoriya, dear, um," Saki says rather slowly, "would it be okay if we spoke privately for a few moments?"
Izuku scrunches his brows because aren't they already speaking privately? It's not until he watches her gaze travel back over to Eijiro and Izuku's mind seems to click. She wants Eijiro to step out.
"Uh, yeah, sure. Th-that's fine… right, Eiji?"
Eijiro bites his bottom lip before putting on a bit of a wobbly smile and nods his head.
"Yeah, that's fine. I've been wanting to head back to my hotel to shower and change anyway… I'll be back in a few hours, okay?"
Izuku feels kinda bugged that he's going back to his hotel. But he can't blame him for wanting to bathe and have some alone time. He's barely spent any time at it since he's got here. He's allowed to be alone, it just feels like poor timing is all. Eijiro leans down to press a kiss on Izuku's temple after he gathers his things. Once he shuts the door behind him, Saki waits a few moments almost as if to make sure he's far enough away before she speaks.
"Look, Midoriya, I'm just going to cut to the chase. As your manager, it's my job to know what's going on with you so I can help you make the best out of any situation. It's what you pay me for. So I'm going to ask, are you telling me the truth about you and Ground Zero? Are you two seeing each other?"
Izuku practically chokes on his spit. Not that he didn't know this was coming, but he did. But because no, no absolutely not. They're not even what he would consider friends at this time. So no. He's not.
"No. Kacchan and I only talk when we need to, and when I woke up from my surgery that was the first time I had seen him outside of work in over a year. I have no idea why he acted that way in that video" Izuku cracks.
No, stop it, you are not going to cry!
"That video was a lot to take in. Why did he act like that?." Izuku says starting to raise his voice. "He doesn't like me. He, he can't."
The tears he doesn't want to shed start to wet his checks as his volume raises even higher. His next words practically come out at a shout.
"I won't accept it!"
Boiling hot tears start cascading out of his eyes. Who is he yelling at? Himself? Saki? He doesn't know. This is all just too much.
"Why did he do that? And why did everyone hide it from me? Kacchan doesn't care about me anymore! He can't, he can't like me, Saki. I can't handle that."
The box of tissues is placed in Izuku's lap. Grabbing a few in his hand Izuku tries to calm himself down. He's become hysterical, and it's embarrassing. Completely and utterly embarrassing. After he's finally able to catch his breath and stop his tears Saki gives him a small smile before she starts to speak.
"Forgive me, Midoriya. I am not a relationship expert, but I don't need to be one to know that you still have feelings for him."
Izuku swallows hard about to say something before he's cut off.
"I'm not judging you. You told me about your history with him a long time ago. And I can tell that those feelings have never quite gone away by the way you always fondly talk about him, and by how much you try to protect him."
Saki presses her lips together for a moment before she continues.
"I can also tell that there is something going on between you and Kirishima-kun."
Izuku blinks a few times but doesn't make an attempt to speak. Is it that obvious? Have other people noticed?
"I've been managing heroes for a long time. And I have eyes everywhere. Before I started working for Fly I developed a network of people to help me provide the best service possible. Something is going on between you two."
Izuku takes in a few deep breaths determined not to cry again. "Is he… cheating on me with Shinso?"
"No." She quickly responds. "At least we don't think so. But you guys should talk. This is a lot for a young couple to deal with."
"I know," Izuku says. "And I will."
"Good," Saki says lightly touching Izuku's forearm. "Just promise me that if things change, that you'll tell me, okay? I don't want to be the last person to know that you're single. I want to help you get to the top like you want. So if anything changes. Please tell me, okay?"
Izuku agrees and shortly after they say their goodbyes and Saki heads out. Once he's alone Izuku slumps down onto the bed and closes his eyes. Even though he just woke up a mere two hours ago, he already wants to go back to sleep. He needs time to think. Time to breathe. He's starting to think that Eijiro deciding to head back to his hotel was a good idea. He has way too many raw emotions swimming around in his head. He needs to figure out what he's going to do next. And how he plans to tell Eijiro that he doesn't want him to stay with him when he recovers at home. He needs to be with someone who won't insist on giving him their opinion about his situation. So having a nurse come by a few times a day seems to be his best option.
As he tries to calm his nerves, Izuku drifts off to sleep. Hopefully, his mind will be clearer when he wakes up.
