Missing scene from The Chamber of Secrets, depicting Harry, Ron, and Hermione talking with Professor McGonagall. If possible, read The Rogue Bludger from The Chamber of Secrets before reading this.
Professor Minerva McGonagall's POV
Having witnessed the events on the Quidditch pitch earlier, I realized I must visit Potter, as he was one of my students. As I walked towards the hospital wing, I passed Lockhart and was going to ignore him, but then he spoke.
"Minerva, I was wondering, would it be allowed for me to visit Harry. I do feel for him and I want to wish him my best." He spoke in a sincere tone, but I couldn't help but scoff.
I couldn't believe what he was asking me. He severely injures my Seeker and then expects me to allow him to visit him? However, no matter how much I wanted to scoff, I held my tongue.
"I shall ask him if he is ready for visitors," I replied, briskly. I turned on the spot and did not look back.
As I entered the hospital wing, I was not surprised to see three of my students; Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger or, as the staff had christened them, the Golden Trio. Potter was laying in bed, looking at the ceiling, wincing, and rubbing his arm, Weasley was sitting in a nearby chair, levitating a Chocolate Frog from Potter's bedside table, and Granger was sitting on the edge of the bed reading and stroking Potter's uninjured arm.
I approached the foot of the bed, Weasley stopped playing with his wand, Granger looked up from her book, and Potter looked down from the ceiling at me and gave me a weak smile. Having never taken Skele-Gro before, I was unsure of how it felt, but from the way Potter was acting, it must have been painful, as it took quite a lot of pain to stop Potter.
"Hello, Professor," said Granger.
"Good afternoon," I said. "The three of you will be pleased to know that the bludger has been disenchanted and set back to normal for the next match. And, Potter," I continued, "Professor Lockhart wishes to see you and wish you his -er- best." I was not surprised to see Potter's face lose some color and see him shake his head.
"I do not want to see him," Potter said forcefully. I nodded, trying to suppress a grin.
"Does he even want to apologize?" asked Weasley, coming to Potter's defense.
"It seems not," I replied and both Weasley and Granger looked almost murderous.
"I don't want to see him," Potter said again.
"Very well, I shall tell him he can see you tomorrow in class, shall I?" Potter nodded and I continued, "How are you feeling?"
"I've . . . been better, Professor," he replied.
"Yes, I'm sure. Professor Dumbledore sends his regards, and I shall see you tomorrow in class, as well."
"Yeah, thanks, Professor."
"You are welcome, Potter."
"Granger, Weasley," I said turning to them and pointing at Potter, "watch him. Make sure he does what he's supposed to." They both grinned, and I turned to walk out but remembered something.
"Oh, and Potter." I turned back to him. "I wanted to say that your catch of the Golden Snitch was quite impressive." I couldn't help but let a small smile out and was pleased to see Potter grin back.
As I left the hospital wing, smiling at Poppy as I left, I realized I was quite glad Potter was one of my Gryffindors.
