"She's not coming." He sighed deeply as he rested his elbow on the opened window of the car door. He tilted his head downward so his eyes could meet the narrowed ones inside the car.

"How dare you." Veronica hissed out.

"How dare I? How dare you!" Jughead hissed right back. "How dare you make it where she had to break her date with me ... so she could out with you." His anger grew hotter. "How dare you dare try to steal Betty from me."

Veronica took a deep breath. "I'm not trying to steal Betty from you Jughead ... I'm just trying to spend time with my best friend is all." Her face softened. "I miss her is all."

"She's not the guilty party here being too busy for your friendship; after all Veronica; not only are you fully busy with Archie; but you have the Pussycats and you are always with Cheryl these days." Jughead's temper rose. "You left Betty in the dust when you decided that you no longer wanted her always by your side. When you grew tired of her."

Steel entered her eyes. But before she opened her mouth to speak; what Jughead was actually saying came home deep within her soul. Her eyes lowered. "I'm more angry at myself then I am with you Jughead." She spoke in a low voice. "I'm sorry for trying to steal Betty's time with you." Her eyes lifted. "it won't happen again."

Jughead sighed. "I'm not trying to make an enemy with you Veronica; I was just trying to get you to fully admit what you were running away from." He lost the stiff anger that had coarsed through his veins.

"Do you need a lift?" Veronica offered.

Jughead nodded. He stood straight and made his way over to the passenger side. "Betty expect both of us at Pops." He buckled his seat belt and watched as Veronica stiffened up. "Stop running from this Veronica. Betty misses you. She wants us three to honesty sit at the same booth and try to become better friends."

Veronica started the car. She twisted her head towards the back; and carefully backed out of the space.
