A Memory of Stars
In my dreams I see a ship,
It angles overhead.
Memory or apparition,
The image fills my head.
...
I see a solid galleon,
See its sails catch solar wind.
I see the Jolly Roger fly,
Symbol of debauchery and sin.
...
I see the Royal Navy near,
Different flags upon their masts.
I see the ship of pirates turn,
Cries of "stand to, avast."
...
I see lasers fill the void of space,
Like stars of different light.
Cannon fire to the cutlass,
I see the firefight.
...
But then a start, a shock, a jolt,
I wake, let out a groan.
The sun is blazing in my eyes,
I'm in my bed, at home.
...
Cut off from the stars above,
From dream that's barely started.
No tales now to fill the void,
From father, long departed.
...
Stuck here, on terra firma.
World of gravity 1g.
World of the waking and forgotten,
Where only joy's in memory.
