Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of The Dragon and her rook. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth do.

(Atlas Memorial Hospital 'Sparks'.)

"Winter, you want her found, we do this a certain way. I want you to get the Ace-Ops to look into this… AND tell Ruby and the others, we aren't having more people kept in the dark about anything. I'm coming back to base and putting the mission together… General Ironwood gave us free reign on how to deal with the convoy issues." Skyler ordered over his scroll, knowing that there was going to be issues.

It bothered Skyler more then anything how many hoops he had to jump to simply to get more security set up. Ironwood wanted results? Capturing Robyn after an attack on a convoy was more then going towards things returning to normal.

Another bigger reason was Skyler wanted answers, and considering he wasn't going to get direct ones simply asking Robyn? He was going to ger more direct on how he approached the issue.

Skyler sighed and then heard the sound of footsteps.

"An Atlesian in the hospital, huh… And what are you doing here 'Colonel Cloud?'" Skyler turned to see the woman who he had just said he'd order the investigation of.

Robyn Hill, the woman who was both running a group of nonmilitary Huntresses, and the person who opposed his uncle.

"Looking after my Fiancée after a bad mission, Ms. Hill." Skyler didn't put any fire in his words despite being annoyed.

Yang was hurt and because he asked for her help investigating the plans his uncle put together… because of him. he didn't have the fire to put the energy into hating someone.

Skyler was still questioning where the battle lines were and who was on his side and who wasn't. he looked at Yang, the last time she had been in a hospital…

"The General's Nephew got engaged? Hmm." Skyler frowned, but said nothing.

"I'm not here to fight… I was actually able to put a mission together to go after you for a talk." Skyler stated, Robyn raised an eyebrow before Skyler sighed.

He had enough on his mind. His uncle didn't seem to see or care that Merlot had already gotten forces inside Atlas, something that bothered him as the kingdom was locked down.

"The type that involves handcuffs? I'm surprised the Ms. approved." Skyler heard from Robyn, he grits his teeth, still biting his tongue.

Two of the most powerful people in Atlas… 3 if he counted Jacques who he had been told to give a wide birth by his uncle and Winter.

And they scrabbled like children over a council seat while there was a war going on. Skyler wanted to put his fist through the wall. He barely had much experience leading and it seemed he had to lead the country basically himself.

"Why are you and my uncle fighting? You've never been a fan of the military, but trying to raid a military convoy hasn't been your style." Skyler stated, trying to see what response he got.

Robyn responded with the typical eyeroll, but it was clear she was reading him as well. she noted the sudden glances at Yang and clenching and unclenching of his fingers in worry. His eyes blinked a bit more.

"Your Uncle didn't tell you?" Robyn put her hands on her hips as Skyler blinked.

A shake of his head, Robyn hummed, wondering why not even his nephew seemed to be a part of his plans. Skyler's eyes narrowed, his tone more with a bite.

"I came back from a dead Vale Scientist cutting a path of destruction from the lip of Mantle all the way to here. I find out my uncle isn't telling me anything and now your busy kicking the Atlas military around… with all due respect, Robyn? You want to tell me what the hell is going on?" Skyler whispered, not wanting to bother anyone… he did want Robyn to know she thoroughly was treading on a line that she didn't want to cross.

Skyler sighed and backed into Yang's room. She had been passed out for more then a day, how the hell was something powerful enough to take down Yang?

"Why wouldn't he tell you?" Robyn watched as Skyler pulled up a seat next to the bed and reached for Yang's hands.

"I don't know… I was hoping the person he's so keen on chasing down would tell me how my home went from being a struggling, but ok kingdom to riots, assaults on military personal and everyone seeming to want to kill each other." Skyler held Yang's biotic arm.

So, like his, and yet so unlike it… steel was supposed to feel cold, her fingers were still warm.

"It's a lot more complicated than that, Colonel." Robyn stated, she watched Skyler snort, as if he didn't hear that before.

Robyn extended her hand, Skyler turned to her with anger and grunted.

"I'm not lying. I don't know." Skyler put his hand on her arm and she asked.

"Do you know enough not to lie about her?" Skyler grunted once more.

"Yes, she's my fiancée, and I don't know." the aura turned from lilac to green. Skyler pulled his hand from his grasp and turned back to Yang.

She watched him with the woman. If they were faking? Skyler was putting a lot of effort into it.

"Everything is complicated, Robyn… I don't know what caused you and my uncle to start going to war with each other, but I have bigger issues to worry about and this isn't making it any easier." Skyler looked at Robyn who sighed.

She couldn't get any answers from Skyler, and it was clear if she stayed, they'd have issues. She was more curious why Ironwood wouldn't tell his nephew anything.

"I'm sorry she got hurt… tell her to call me when she wakes up." Robyn left a card on the nightstand and left.

Skyler hummed, too mad to respond. He wanted to shout after her, drag her back for answers and demand she tell him why his home had become a warzone.

He had a feeling she didn't even know. she and his uncle were so busy trying to cut each other down and play chess both were hurting the kingdom in different ways.

Robyn was strangling the kingdom by fighting the military, his uncle was busy tightening his fist on Atlas.

Skyler felt something warm flowing down his cheek, ah, tears. He wanted to scream.

He refused to pick sides. The war was against Merlot and the target hadn't changed, just the way the war was waged.

Skyler sighed and brushed Yang's hair back before bringing up his scroll.

He was getting answers… now.
