Chapter 22.
Yondu felt nervous as the Eccletor left the Teegarden planet, something about that Centaurian merchant seemed strange. From what he knew Centaurians would
never leave Centauri IV unless they were to be used as a battle slave, sex slave or used for scientific research which they never survived. Walking quickly to the
bridge Yondu saw Meredith and taking her by the arm he said "get Pearle and Peter and make sure you bring them to the bridge".
"Is everything alright Yondu?" asked Meredith with her brow furrowed in worry.
Yondu shook his head and replied "just gotta bad feelin that somethin ain't right. That Centaurian shouldn't have been there, I think we've been set up".
Meredith nodded her head and taking a deep breath she said "well we're in this together..". The emergency alarm rang out cutting Meredith off from finishing her
sentence. Herself and Yondu ran the rest of the way to the bridge.
Oblo and Tulk looked out at the Kree Mothership that had jumped to their location. It had fired a warning blast and was waiting for their transmission to be received
by the captain. Tulk was about to receive the transmission when Yondu entered with Meredith in step with him. Sitting at his seat Yondu ordered "Tulk, Oblo to get
the crew to the hangar bay and to prepare for battle.
Meredith watched as they left the room and sitting in a seat she asked "are you going out there Yondu?"
Yondu stood up and placing his hand on Meredith's shoulder he replied "yeah. Gotta lead my crew. Stay here and make sure Pearle and Peter don't go out there".
Meredith watched him leave the bridge and taking a deep breath she went to find Peter and Pearle who were no doubt in the break room playing that video game they
had become obsessed with whenever they had time. As soon as she entered the break room and seeing it empty she ran to their quarters which were empty also.
Hitting the com link in her ear she called for them but receiving no answer she ran to the Hanger Bay and when she reached it she let out a horrified gasp because the
M'Crafts belonging to Peter and Pearle were not there. Taking a few deep breaths Meredith ran back to the bridge and sitting in front of the monitor she watched the
Ravagers battle the Kree and there in the middle of the battle was her children's M'Crafts.
Using her com link to contact Yondu Meredith said "Yondu Peter and Pearle are out there with ye"
Yondu who had just finished destroying a Kree aircraft heard Meredith's message and gritting his teeth he scanned the battle field and seeing two familiar M'Crafts
fighting side by side he flew to join them in their fight mentally telling himself that when this was over he was going to kill them.
Pearle who noticed Yondu's ship join them she smirked before muttering "shit I'm in trouble" under her breath. Peter wasn't fazed by Yondu joining them and
continued fighting the Kree knowing he'd be able to talk his way out of whatever punishment Yondu had planned for him.
The battle waged on with losses on both sides. Noticing another Kree battle ships appear Yondu gritted his teeth and was aabout to order Peter and Pearle back to the
Ecclector when a bright golden light filled the emptiness of space and when the light faded a woman in red, blue and gold was flying around the battle destroying all
the Kree battle ships. Yondu shook his head in shock and ordered all the remaining Ravagers to return to the Ecclector.
Meredith who had watched the battle from the Bridge saw the young woman destroying the Kree battle ships and seeing the Ravagers return to Ecclector with their
fallen comrades she rushed to the Hanger Bay to not only greet her children but tell them off. Upon entering the Hanger Bay she saw Peter and Pearle speaking with
Yondu about the battle when the young woman came through the open Hangar Bay doors.
Yondu ordered the doors to be closed and whistling sharply his Yaka arrow shot out of it's holster and hovered in front of the strange woman's face.
"Look lady we thank you for what ya did but judging by your uniform you're just as bad as the Kree ya destroyed" said Yondu in a cruel voice.
The woman smirked and looking at the arrow and then at Yondu she said "I mean you no harm Yondu Udonta, I just happened to be in the right place at the right
time. The Kree must be stopped after all that they have done".
Meredith watched them converse before coming forward and asking "are you from Terra?".
"Yes I am and my name is Carol Danvers" replied Miss Marvel.
"I don't think she's a threat Yondu. She aided us out there and the least thing we can do is hear her side of the story" said Peter as he approached Yondu.
Yondu looked at Peter and said "if ya keep thinkin like that boy ya'll get killed".
"Can we at least hear her story Pops. After all she doesn't wear the Kree colours" said Pearle as she approached Yondu.
Yondu looked at Pearle and giving a sharp whistle to return his arrow he said "okay Danvers we'll spare your life but one attack from ya and my Ravagers will kill ya
understood?"
"Of course" said Miss Marvel as she looked over at the Terran woman who greeted the Centaurian. Judging by the look in her eyes she loved the Ravager but was
careful at hiding it. As the Ravagers left the Hanger Bay she approached the woman whom Yondu Udonta had called Mer she said "hi".
Meredith smiled at Carol and said "hello Carol welcome to the Ecclector. Thank you for what you did out there. My name's Meredith or Mer if you'd prefer".
Carol smiled and said "you're welcome Meredith. So if your Captain wants to hear my story then best get it over with as I have other obligations like destroying a Kree
empire".
Meredith nodded her head and said "of course. Peter and Pearle will take you to Yondu". Seeing her children approach she added "but that doesn't let you too off with
disobeying orders".
Peter and Pearle gave each other a worried look before watching their Mother leave the Hanger Bay. Beckoning Carol to follow them the conversed with her about
what adventures she'd had in space. Carol answered their questions wondering how too Terran children and their Mother ended up on a Ravager ship. Maybe Meredith
could answer these questions and if they were taken by force Yondu Udonta would have questions to answer.
