eddie teaches venom about daylight savings

It was another quiet night in San Francisco, California. The weather was beginning to get colder, and the days were getting shorter. And when the alien within him noticed these changes, naturally it had many questions.

"EDDIE. IT'S ONLY 6:30 AND THE SUN IS GONE. WHY IS IT DOING THAT?" Venom asked. They were sitting on a couch in their studio apartment, Eddie with a beer in hand watching the news when Venom noticed the time and the way it looked outside. It took him some time to learn the way humans measured and kept track of everything but he knew something was off about things lately.

"It's called daylight savings. Basically means the seasons are changing and it's not gonna be so bright and sunny all the time. And it gets darker earlier." Eddie answered. He felt Venom's confusion as the symbiotic went quiet for a moment.

"BUT I LIKE WHEN IT'S SUNNY. IT FEELS WARM. NOT SO MUCH THE BRIGHTNESS, THOUGH."

"And why is that?"

"MAKES IT HARDER TO SNEAK AROUND. AND EAT PEOPLE."

"Of course that's what your main priority is." Eddie rolled his eyes, and he felt Venom's prickling annoyance, tensing up his whole body.

"THIS IS NOT A JOKE. YOU NEED TO FEED ME MORE OTHERWISE I'M GOING TO STARVE TO DEATH. AND THEN I'LL CONSUME YOUR ORGANS."

"It'll be easier now that it's getting dark earlier. More time to grab maybe three snacks for you if we're lucky. And we both know you don't mean that."

"YES I DO."

"No, you don't."

"YES THE FUCK I DO. REMEMBER EDDIE, I AM NOT THE PUSSY IN THIS RELATIONSHIP."

"Ha ha. Very funny. Any other questions?"

"WHAT ARE SEASONS? AND WHY DOES THE TIME CHANGE?"

"Earth's rotation or revolution, some shit like that. I'm pretty sure it keeps everything in balance. Also something about it being at an axis at certain points. We'll watch a documentary or something on it soon."

"HOW MANY ARE THERE?"

"How many what?"

"SEASONS."

"Oh, yeah. There's four. Spring, summer, fall, and winter. Winter's the coldest and summer's the hottest. We just finished fall and now we're moving into winter. Depending on where you are on the planet it can either be way colder or way hotter though."

"HMM. INTERESTING. AND THE TIME CHANGES BECAUSE OF THIS?"

"The amount of hours of daylight, yeah. The time, technically no. We still have 24 hours in a day, it's just that depending on the season it gets dark earlier or later. Same with the mornings too."

Venom stayed quiet for a minute, soaking in all the information. Eddie could practically feel all the gears turning in their brain as he continued to watch tv.

"YOUR PLANET IS STUPID AND VASTLY COMPLICATED. THE FACT THAT YOUR SPECIES SPENDS THOUSANDS OF YEARS SIMPLY TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THE ROCK THEY LIVE ON IS PATHETIC ENOUGH."

"Love you too, V." Eddie rolled his eyes once again, but this time smirking at the symbiote's commentary.

"BUT... I MUST ADMIT, IT IS KIND OF FASCINATING. LEARNING ALL THAT KNOWLEDGE AND AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE. PERHAPS YOUR KIND IS NOT AS STUPID AS I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT."

"Told ya."

"WHATEVER. YOU'RE STILL A LOSER, EDDIE."

"Got it. Any more questions? We've got all night."

"... YES."
