Disclaimer: I do not own Spyro the Dragon, except for my OC characters
Hello everyone, here is the 7th chapter. I know that I promised this chapter would be the actual battle for Warfang, but I decided to save it for the 8th chapter. Anyway, for this chapter: Terrador will introduce Spyro and Cynder to Kael and his hand picked strike team. However...a member of Kael's team will harbor a deep grudge against Cynder for something that she had done in the past while she was Malefor's slave and puppet.

The Legend of Spyro: A New Threat
Chapter 7: Calm Before the Storm
~Warfang, nearing dawn~
Spyro was sleeping peacefully in his personal residence with the sun's rays shining through the curtains blocking the balcony in his bedroom, until he heard a familiar voice, which belong to Ignitus calling out to him in his dreams.
'Spyro. Spyro can you hear me?' The new Chronicler called out, asking the young purple dragon if he had heard him and he slowly began to wake up.
'What...Ignitus? Where are you?' The young dragon asked as he opened his eyes and stared shocked to see that he was currently in his mentor/father figure's personal chamber on the White Isle!
'I'm right here young dragon.' Ignitus answered, as he was standing right beside him with a warm smile on his face.
'Ignitus...is this a dream? How did I...' Spyro began to ask, curious to how he ended up in his mentor/father figure's chambers on the White Isle...but then knew the answer, as he remembered how the previous Chronicler had sent him to the training area in his dreams in order to awaken his dormant Elemental powers after his battle with Cynder before he freed her from Malefor's evil clutches in Convexity.
'You transported me here in my dreams.' He stated with a smile on his face, as he instantly realized how the former Fire Guardian had summoned to the While Isle.
'You are indeed correct, Spyro. I truly wish I could say that I summoned you to my chambers for a personal visit, but I'm afraid that I have troubling news that you, Terrador and the others need to know.' Ignitus stated with a proud smile, showing he was glad to see that his pupil's extraordinary insight hadn't rusted...but somberly revealed the reason why he contacted the young purple dragon was because he had valuable information for his fellow Guardians and friends.
'Onyx and the Dark Armies are about to begin their attack on Warfang, aren't they?' The young dragon asked, as he knew what it was his mentor and father figure was referring to: the Dark Master's last surviving general leading the remaining forces of Malefor's nightmarish abominations to attack their city home.
'Indeed. They will launch their assault on Warfang at dawn.' The newly promoted Chronicler answered, confirming Spyro's suspicions and revealing that the evil shadow dragoness and her forces would arrive to wage their assault on the Dragon City when the sun began to rise up.
'But Spyro...you, Cynder, along with your new friends need to be extra careful once Onyx and her forces arrive. The Dark Armies are much stronger and more ruthless than they were before during the previous siege.' Ignitus added, warning the young purple that the Dark Armies had grown much durable and agile from the previous battle for the Dragon City.
'Don't worry Ignitus. We'll be careful. We survived and won the previous attack on Warfang. We'll survive and win this one as well.' Spyro stated with soft grin, reassuring his mentor/father figure that he and his friends would be alright and pointed out how they had survived the Dark Armies previous full scale assault on their city home...even though it was nearly destroyed by the Golem once Malefor summoned the ancient destructive beast.
'Hmm, indeed you shall young dragon.' The new Chronicler stated while chuckling amused and proud of his student's fighting spirit...and sensed how it was time for the young purple dragon to wake.
'It's time to go Spyro.' He added with a small frown, showing he wished to spend a bit more time with the young dragon whom was like a son to him but knew he could always contact either Spyro or Cynder in their dreams when he had invaluable information for them.
'Good bye Ignitus. It was nice to see you.' The purple dragon stated with a soft grin, showing he understood how they ran out of time, especially as he was about to wake up and was glad to see/talk to Ignitus before his mentor and his chamber on the White Isle slowly began to fade away.
Spyro had groaned softly, as the sun's insanely bright rays continued to shine on his face and eventually forced him to wake up. Once he was fully awake, the young purple dragon had remembered his conversation with Ignitus in his dreams.
'It's already morning. I've got to tell Terrador, Cyril and Volteer so we can prepare our defenses.' He mentally said to himself after remembering how his mentor/father figure told him how the Dark Armies would be arriving to attack their city home and were no doubtingly already on their way.
After he climbed off his bed and exited his house through the balcony, the young purple dragon had flown straight towards Terrador's residence, hoping the Earth Guardian was home and luckily for him, he had just exited his house.
"Terrador! Do you a have moment?" Spyro called out, as he slowly descended and landed safely on his feet while approaching the elderly Earth dragon and asked if they could talk for a brief moment.
"Of course Spyro. What is it?" Terrador stated with a kind smile and was curious to what it was the young dragon needed to tell him...and would be deeply surprised by the answer.
"Ignitus just contacted me through my dreams. He told me that the Dark Armies are on their way to attack Warfang." He answered truthfully, revealing that the former Fire Guardian had reached out and informed him that Onyx and her forces were on their way to launch their full-scale assault on the Dragon City.
"The Well of Souls is miles away...so we still have plenty of time to prepare." The veteran Earth Guardian stated, showing he was grateful towards his fellow Guardian and brother for the information, which bought them the necessary time to prepare their defenses before the evil shadow dragoness and her armies arrived to attack and destroy their city home.
"Find Cynder and come meet me, Cyril and Volteer at the city plaza. There's someone I'd like you both to meet before the battle starts." He added in an authoritative tone, ordering Spyro to find the black dragoness and to meet him and the other Guardians at the plaza in order to introduce someone to the two young dragons, which was answered by a firm and simple nod.
"Alright, I'll grab Cynder and we'll come find you and the other Guardians." The purple dragon answered, before turning around and taking to the air once again while heading towards his best friend and partner's residence which wasn't too far from where he resided.
After landing outside the black dragoness' house, Spyro had noticed that the front door was closed, which suggested that Cynder was still sleeping and softly knocked on the door.
"Cynder! Are you up?" He called out while hoping that he hadn't woken the black dragoness up at a bad time, especially since she had made it a habit of sleeping in and missing several training sessions when they used to live in the Temple before she ran away on the Night of Eternal Darkness, due to the immense guilt she felt while being controlled by Malefor's evil influence.
"Yeah, I'm up." Cynder answered back while yawning softly as she approached and opened the door to great her friend.
"What is it?" She asked while bringing her left paw up to rub her eye, showing she was still slightly exhausted from from helping Mason and his construction crew repairing the destroyed city streets alongside Spyro, Ember and Leon yesterday.
"Cynder...it's time. Onyx and the Dark Armies are on there their way." The purple dragon answered, informing the black dragoness that the moment they had been waiting for had finally arrived to attack and destroy Warfang.
"They are already on their way here?" His friend and partner asked, as she was more awake after hearing that Malefor's last surviving general and the remnants of his army would be arriving to attack their city home!
"Yeah and Terrador asked us to meet him, Cyril and Volteer at the plaza. He said he wanted to introduce us to someone." Spyro answered while nodding, confirming that the evil shadow dragoness and her forces would be arriving soon and stated how the Earth Guardian wanted to introduce them to somebody who would be assisting them in defending the Dragon City.
"We'd better get going then. We won't have much time to come up with a plan before the Dark Armies finally arrive." Cynder stated as she knew that even though Onyx and her armies were still miles away from Warfang, they would arrive much sooner than expected and immediately started flapping her wings before taking to the air with her friend and partner right behind her.
It hadn't the two young dragons long to locate the plaza and once they had landed on the soft grass covered soil, Spyro and Cynder were rather surprised to see their new friends, Leon and Ember standing beside Cyril and Volteer...along with six other dragons they had never seen before standing a few feet behind Terrador.
'These dragons must be who Terrador wanted to introduce me and Cynder to.' The young purple dragon mentally stated, after seeing who it was the veteran Earth Guardian wished to introduce to him and the black dragoness.
"Ah Spyro, Cynder. Thank you for joining us." Cyril stated casually with a kind grin while greeting the two young dragons the moment they arrived and landed in the plaza.
"Good morning Cyril. Volteer." Cynder answered back with a soft grin, greeting both the Ice and Electric Guardians while acknowledging the gold dragon and pink dragon.
"Morning Leon. Ember." She added while turning to her new friends...and blushed softly, as Ember had turned to greet her back in return.
"Morning Cynder. It's nice to see you here." The pink dragoness stated with a warmhearted and kind smile, which earned a soft coo from the black dragoness as their beautiful baby blue and emerald eyes met.
'My god...is she so...so beautiful. Especially with the sun radiating over her lovely pink scales.' Cynder mentally stated, complimenting on how the sun's rays shining over her new friend's scales made her look extraordinary beautiful...much to her deep surprise.
'Wait...what? Why would I think that? I just met her yesterday!' She mentally added, surprised by what she though of the pink dragoness...which increased the blush further before turning away to hide it before anyone noticed!
"Morning Spyro. How are you doing?" Leon stated casually, greeting the purple dragon with a soft smile which his friend naturally returned.
"Morning Leon." Spyro replied back, greeting his new friend with a soft grin which earned a feint blush from the gold dragon.
'He looks so adorable when he blushes.' He mentally stated, complimenting on how cute his new friend looked while blushing...which deeply surprised the young purple dragon.
'Wait...what? Why would I even think that?' He added, surprised by what he thought of the gold dragon while glancing away in order to hide small blush threatening to show on his face!
Fortunately for Spyro and Cynder...Terrador had thankfully came to their rescue as he turned their attention to the six dragons whom would be fighting beside them to protect Warfang from Onyx and her army of nightmarish creatures.
"Spyro, Cynder...I would like to introduce you two young dragons to a new friend of ours and more importantly, my new lieutenant during the battle against Onyx and the Dark Armies: Kael." The veteran Earth Guardian stated professionally, introducing his newly promoted second in command to the purple dragon and black dragoness.
"Hello. It's a great honor to meet you both." The red/blue scaled dragon stated humbly while bowing his head in respect towards the two young dragons who saved their city home and world from Malefor's demented and genocidal plans.
"Thank you. It's nice to meet you as well Kael." Spyro stated as he and Cynder nodded back in return, showing they were glad to make his acquaintance.
"Who are these dragons with you?" The black dragoness asked, as they turned their attention to the five dragons with him.
"I'd like to introduce you both, along with your new friends to my strike team. Meet Pyre, Quake, Tundra, Zephyr and Neo." Kael answered while introducing the dragons he handpicked to be part of his team to help defend their city from Onyx and her armies.
Pyre was an adult Fire dragon with surprising bodily features that made him look almost identical to Ignitus, much to Spyro's complete surprise: scarlet eyes, orange-yellow spiral horns, bright red scales and an orange-yellow underbelly. His wings were also bright red with scarlet membranes. The only two differences between Pyre and the former Fire Guardian: the bright red spines running down his back were five inches apart and had a flame shaped like fin at the end of his tail.
Quake was an adult Earth dragon with bodily features equal to Terrador's: a muscular body with shamrock green scales, hickory brown eyes and underbelly...along with moss covered plates over his shoulders and a spiked mace like tip at the end of his tail. His wings were also shamrock green with light brown membranes, that weren't that battered like Terrador's. The two main differences between the two was that Quake didn't have a goatee underneath his chin and had bison like horns instead of ram like horns the veteran Earth Guardian's.
Zephyr was an adult Wind dragon with emerald scales, teal blue eyes and underbelly, along with golden brown spiral horns matching Spyro's, Leon's and Ember's. His wings were also emerald green with white membranes that were slightly torn. He also had emerald green like frills on the left/right sides of his neck and teal blue colored spines running down his back, along with a teal blue spade like fin at the end of his tail. The only feature that surprised Spyro, along with Cynder, Ember and Leon was the healed scar running down the left side of Zephyr's face...as it ran down his left eye straight to his jawline, but fortunately didn't leave the Wind dragon blind as both his eyes were in perfect condition.
Tundra was an adult Ice dragon with bodily features similar to Cyril's: as he had crystal blue scales, jagged icicle shaped like horns, magenta eyes and a lilac underbelly. His wings were also crystal blue with lilac membranes, lilac spines running down his back and a jagged club like tip at the end of his tail. The only differences between the two of them, was that Tundra didn't sport the same frills on the sides of his neck or white spot like pattern running down his body like the Ice Guardian. Although he did sport a unique snow flake like pattern covering his entire body down to his tail.
Neo was an adult Electric dragon with bodily features similar to Volteer's: as he had bright yellow scales, amber eyes, light brown spines running down his spine and a lighting bolt shaped like tip at the end of his tail. His wings were also yellow, just the rest of his body with one slight difference: the membrane were light brown while the Electric Guardian's were grayish-blue. The other bodily that Neo had, which Volteer did not was a light bolt shaped like horn above his snout.
"Cynder...do you see what I see?" Spyro whispered while turning to his best friend and partner, asking if she noticed the same thing as he did...which she answered with a soft nod.
"You mean...how these four dragons practically look like younger versions of the Guardians?" The black dragoness whispered back softly while pointing out the obvious fact that four of the five dragons on Kael's team resembled a younger Ignitus, Terrador, Cyril and Volteer!
"So, these are the famous young dragons that confronted and defeated the Dark Master in battle?" The Ice dragon, Tundra asked in a somewhat arrogant tone, suggesting that he wasn't the slightest impressed by the sight of the young purple dragon and black dragoness.
"Hey, watch your tone. They both saved our world from being destroyed from Malefor's madness." The Fire dragon, Pyre stated in a more civilized tone while glaring in disgust at Tundra's arrogant personality as he had the nerve to insult the saviors of their city home and world from complete annihilation.
"You mean the young purple dragon saved our world...not her." The Wind dragon, Zephyr stated coldly while correcting his teammate: acknowledging Spyro as a hero...and glared daggers at the black dragoness, which she instantly mirrored.
"Excuse me?" Cynder asked while feeling highly offended at the Wind dragon had the nerve of calling her a villain after she helped her best friend in defeating the Dark Master!
"You don't even remember me...do you?" He asked coldly while cryptically stating that they had met before...much to the young dragoness's deep surprise.
"What?" She asked deeply confused after hearing Zephyr claim that they somehow knew each other or crossed paths before!
"You must have her confused with someone..." Spyro stated, thinking that the Wind dragon on Kael's team had Cynder confused with someone else, as he could tell from the surprised look on his friend's face that she didn't recognize him.
"Oh, that's where your wrong, boy. You see...I know your so your called 'partner' very well...especially since she destroyed my home village three years ago, during the war against the Dark Master's Ape forces and did this to me before I barely escaped with my life!" Zephyr angrily rebuffed while revealing to the young purple dragon and the Guardians how he and the black dragoness knew each other: as Cynder had destroyed his village three years ago, while serving as Malefor's general and leading his Apes forces and more shockingly, stated that it was she who had given him the scar that ran down the left side of his face!
While Spyro, Ember, Leon and the Guardians stared stunned and speechless from the shocking revelation...Cynder had a look of horror on her face after hearing the Wind dragon explain how they knew one another: how she supposedly destroyed his home village when she had been possessed/corrupted by the Dark Master's corrupting influence before her friend and partner freed her and given Zephyr the nasty scar that nearly blinded him in his left eye!
'I...I did that? I...I gave him that scar?' She mentally asked herself while bringing up and glancing at the scythe-like blade at the end of her tail...that she had used allegedly used to leave that nasty scar on the Wind dragon's face!
"...Cynder? Is what he..." Leon asked softly, wondering if what Zephyr was saying was true or not: if she had truly destroyed his home village when she was under Malefor's warped and twisted influence before Spyro freed and rescued her three years ago.
"No! I mean...I-I don't think...I can't remember." The black dragoness cried out, naturally denying the accusation...but was greatly overwhelmed by intense guilt and stated that she couldn't even remember attacking the Wind dragon's home village.
"Isn't that convenient?" Zephyr scoffed angrily, disgusted that she didn't even remember attacking and destroying his home when she had served as the Dark Master's general while being controlled by his corrupt dark magic.
"Zephyr...take it easy." The Earth dragon, Quake stated, ordering his friend and teammate to back off the black dragoness, as he could tell that she had no memory of destroying his home village...which unfortunately fell on deaf ears.
"No Quake! This dragoness destroyed my home and killed everyone I cared about: my parents, my friends! She's not a hero and if any one of you think differently, than you're damned fools! She's...AHHH!" He angrily spat, disgusted that his teammate would defend her and stated that Cynder had murdered everyone he cared about when she destroyed his home village: his parents and friends and claiming that she was not a hero...and cried out in surprise as a fire ball had unexpectedly struck him in his face!
Kael and the rest of his team, along with the Guardians, Spyro, Leon and Cynder stared completely stunned and speechless as they saw the fire ball hitting Zephyr in his face, along with soft growling...and the black dragoness slowly turned to see that the fire ball had come from Ember, who glared angrily at the adult Wind dragon!
"You owe my friend an apology." The pink dragoness growled angrily at Zephyr, whom had the nerve to insult her friend and calling her a murderer/monster for something that she never wanted to do, especially since she was being controlled against her will by Malefor's dark magic!
Even though Spyro and Leon were shocked from what they just witnessed, along with the Guardians, Kael and the rest of his team...Cynder stared completely stunned and speechless by how angry Ember was as the Wind dragon insulting and labeling her as a monster and outcast who didn't belong on their side...and blushed softly at how she defended and stood up for her.
"Why you little...Hey!" Zephyr growled while glaring at the pink dragoness who had the nerve to singe his face...and cried out in pain, as Kael had landed a swift and powerful blow with his tail, striking him in his still burning face that knocked him to the ground and was pinned down as he had brought his right paw down on his throat!
"Get the hell off me Kael!" The Wind dragon barked out while glaring at his team leader, demanding that he removed his paw off his throat which only forced him to keep his paw pressed down to his neck!
"Not until you calm the hell down Zephyr! I'm sorry about what happened to your home village and family, I really am. But this dragoness is not our enemy!" Kael snapped back while glaring back at the Wind dragon, stating that he was truly sorry about the destruction of his teammate's home and family...but defended Cynder as well, as he could tell by the saddened and guilt ridden look in her eyes that she truly had no memory of attacking/destroying Zephyr's home village when she had served as Malefor's general before Spyro faced and defeated her in battle three years ago.
"This isn't the time or place for your personal grudge Zephyr! The Dark Armies are bound to show up in any moment!" The Fire dragon, Pyre added after his team leader while glaring angrily at Zephyr, equally disgusted that his teammate would insult the young black dragoness, who helped Spyro save their race and world from complete annihilation by defeating Malefor in combat, which made her a hero by his standards.
"...Fine..." The Wind dragon muttered, while scoffing in disgust that his teammates would defend the dragoness that took everything from him, even though she was merely a puppet being controlled by the Dark Master's evil influence and corrupting dark magic.
Even though he was extremely pissed that both the young pink dragoness and his own team leader would defend the dragoness that destroyed his home and slaughtered his family and friends, Zephyr had begrudgingly cast his ire towards Cynder aside and stood back up on his four legs after Kael had removed his paw from his throat. Once Zephyr was back on his feet, Terrador had cleared his throat which earned everyone's attention as they turned towards him.
"As we all know: the moment we've prepared for has finally arrived...Onyx and the remnants of Malefor's armies are on their way and thanks to Ignitus contacting Spyro, we have the necessary time to form a plan of action." The veteran Earth dragon stated, informing his friends and fellow Guardians that the moment they had trained and prepared for had finally come: how the evil shadow dragoness was leading the remaining forces of her master's armies to attack/destroy their city and thanks to Ignitus contacting the young purple through his dreams, they had the time they needed to prepare their defenses and form a plan of attack.
"So, what do you recommend for our plan of action Terrador?" Cyril asked casually, showing he wished to get straight to the point after hearing that Onyx and her armies were no doubtingly moments away from reaching Warfang.
"We'll split into teams of three. Cyril, you and Volteer are with me, we'll be leading the offensive outside the city gates. Kael: you and your team will be in charge of our aerial assault, taking those sickening creatures off guard by the air." He answered calmly while assigning the teams and giving them their assignments: how he, Cyril and Volteer would be leading their forces on the battlefield outside the main gates while his lieutenant and his team would be their aerial support, attacking the Dark Armies from the sky while the Guardians led their forces on the ground.
"Terrador...what about me, Cynder, Ember and Leon?" Spyro asked, as he was curious to what sort of assignment the Earth Guardian had in mind for him, the black dragoness and their new friends.
"Spyro: you and your team will be in charge of defending the ramparts. We'll need someone to defend our catapults, especially if the Dark Armies will be using bringing their battering rams...just as before." Terrador answered plain and simple, placing the young purple dragon and his newly assigned team in charge of protecting the ramparts, as their catapults were the only weapons powerful enough to bring down the Dark Armies living 'battering rams'.
"My own team? Terrador...I've never led a squad before!" The young dragon asked with widened eyes, deeply surprised that the veteran Earth dragon had given him his very own team and stated that he had no experience in leading a team before until today!
"Nervous about leading a team of your own for the first time, Spyro?" Cyril asked, as he, Volteer and Terrador could tell that the young purple dragon was caught completely off guard that he would be leading his own team for the first time!
"...Yeah." He answered with a soft nod, confirming that he was indeed nervous about leading his very own team, which was met with understanding eyes from the Guardians and his friends.
"It's natural for all warriors to feel nervous, especially if they've been given a great responsibility, Spyro. But, Volteer and Cyril and I deeply believe that you're ready to lead your own team. You're a natural born warrior with excellent instincts, all you need to do is trust them." Terrador stated softly while placing a gentle paw on Spyro's shoulder, reassuring him that it was natural for all warriors to feel anxious after being asked to carry a burden they weren't prepared for and stated that he, Cyril and Volteer felt that the young purple dragon was more than ready to lead a team of his own.
"But, still..." Spyro replied softly, even though he was surprised and awed by the reason why the Guardians had made given him his own squad: how they believed in him and claiming that he had skills and potential of a natural born leader!
"Terrador, Volteer and Cyril are right Spyro. You can do this, I believe in you." Cynder stated, showing she completely agreed with the Guardians reasons for appointing her best friend and partner as the leader of their group to defend the ramparts and believed in him for making the right judgment calls once the battle for their city home began, along with Ember and Leon nodding in agreement.
"I'll do my best." The purple dragon stated humbly, showing he would do his best to lead his friends while protecting the ramparts once Onyx and her armies had arrived to attack Warfang.
"Good, that's all we can ask." Terrador stated with a soft grin, showing he was proud of the young dragon he helped train and raise for stepping up and accepting the role of a leader, along with Cyril and Volteer.
"Terrador, does Hunter and his village know about the upcoming attack? We're going to need their help." Cynder asked, wondering if their Cheetah allies knew about the Dark Armies upcoming siege on Warfang and pointed out how they would need the extra help...especially if the Grublins and Orcs had managed to get past their main defenses, just as before.
"We've already sent a messenger to inform Hunter and his people of the upcoming battle for Warfang, Cynder. They'll be here." Cyril replied while answering for the Earth Guardian, informing the black dragoness that he, Terrador and Volteer had sent a volunteer to pass word about the Dark Armies full scale assault on their city and how their Cheetah friends/allies would surely be on their way to assist them.
"Master Terrador!" A male voice called out which caused the Guardians, Spyro, Cynder, Ember, Leon, Kael and his team to glance up towards the sky and spotted a lime green/cyan Earth dragon flying above the plaza before descending and landing safely on the ground.
"What is it Geo? Do you have anything to report?" Terrador asked while acknowledging the lime green/cyan scaled dragon who volunteered to inform Hunter and his fellow Cheetah warriors of the upcoming assault on the Dragon City... and suspected that he must've seen something during the flight back, from the troubled look on his face.
"I relayed the message to our Cheetah allies Master Terrador. Hunter and his people will arrive shortly to assist us in protecting Warfang. But...I'm afraid that I have troubling news: the Dark Armies are nearly here. I spotted them four miles back while returning from the Valley of Avalar." The Earth dragon, Geo answered while bowing his head down in respect, informing the Guardians that he had conveyed the message of the upcoming siege on their city home to Hunter and how their Cheetah allies were more than happy to fight beside them again...and revealed that Onyx and her armies were dangerously close to approaching Warfang, due to spotting the evil shadow dragoness and remnant's of Malefor's nightmarish/hellish creatures whist flying back from Hunter's village.
'Oh, thank you Hunter.' Spyro and Cynder mentally stated, thanking their friend and ally for convincing his fellow warriors to assist them in defending the Dragon City once again.
"Excuse me, Master Terrador, but...do you either you or Masters Cyril and Volteer have any useful advice for us before the battle for the city begins." Leon asked softly, wondering if the elderly Earth, Ice or Electric Guardians had any useful advice they felt he, Ember, Spyro and Cynder should know.
"As a matter of fact...there is, young Leon and it is rather important." Volteer answered, claiming that he and his fellow Guardians indeed had an important piece of advice that Spyro and his team would need to know before the 2nd battle for their city home started.
"What is it?" Cynder asked as she, Spyro and their new friends were deeply curious to what it was the Guardians wished to tell them before Onyx and her forces eventually arrived.
"Look out for each other, at all times. The most important rule of being a team, is for all team members to help keep one another alive. Is that understood?" Terrador answered plain and simple, informing the four young dragons that if they wished to survive mission/battle and return home alive, that they needed to work in perfect harmony while asking if they understood, which was answered by firm nods.
"We understand perfectly." The young purple answered for his friends and teammates, showing they understood that they needed to count and rely on each other in order to survive, especially after Ignitus had warned them that the Dark Armies were much faster and stronger ever since their previous full scale attack on Warfang.
"We should probably take out positions up in the ramparts. We'll have a perfect bird's-eye view of the battlefield outside the main gate from there." Spyro stated softly while turning to Cynder, Ember and Leon, suggesting that they get to the ramparts so they could protect the Moles manning the catapults, with his friends/team nodding in agreement.
"Lead the way, Spyro." Leon stated with a warm smile, which earned a small grin from the purple dragon in return before taking to the air and they flew towards the ramparts.
"Leon...I want you and Ember to stay close to me and Cynder. The Dark Armies are not to be underestimated, especially the Trolls and their Elites." He replied softly, while instructing the gold dragon and pink dragoness to stay close to him and the black dragoness, due to them not having any experience in battling the sickening abominations that Malefor created through his powers over darkness and more importantly: they had grown much stronger after the defeat and death of their master.
"And most of their standard solders are difficult to defeat, one on one. Trust us, Spyro and I learned that the hard when we battled that Troll." The black dragoness added, while revealing to their new friends that even the common foot soldiers in the Dark Armies were difficult to defeat, due to them preferring to ganging up on their targets and how abnormally strong the Trolls were.
"Alright. We'll stay close to you guys." The gold dragon replied with a soft smile as he and Ember appreciated their friends looking out for them, especially since they never faced off against Grublins, Orcs, Trolls or Wyverns before in their lives.
"Oh, and Ember? Thanks for backing me up earlier, when Zephyr..." Cynder stated softly, while thanking the pink dragoness for defending her when Zephyr revealed that she had supposedly destroyed his home village and slaughtered his family/friends when she had served as Malefor's general against her will...and how she had no memories of that day.
"Yeah, well...he had no right to call you a murderer or monster, Cynder. Spyro, Leon, the Guardians and I know that you never wanted to hurt anyone. What you did in the past...that wasn't you, that was the Dark Master controlling you. You practically made up for it by helping Spyro save our world." Ember replied with a soft smile, stating that the Wind dragon had no right to bring up the horrible things her friend did in the past and pointed out how the black dragoness had redeemed herself by protecting the Dragon City from the Dark Armies previous assault and saving their world from complete destruction, with Leon nodding in agreement.
"Thanks Ember...that means a lot." The black dragoness replied with a soft grin, as she felt truly fortunate to find and have another friend who wasn't afraid of her or judged her for what she did in past while being possessed and controlled as a puppet by Malefor's corrupting influence over dark magic.
"Any time Cynder." She stated while mirroring the smile, showing she would always be there to comfort for her friend if someone had the nerve to hurt her by bringing up her past.
After the short flight, Spyro and his team had landed on the ramparts which faced the wide field that was directly outside the main city gate...and knew the only thing they could do was simply wait for Onyx and her forces to arrive. The moment they had prepared for had finally arrived: the second battle for Warfang would soon begin.
A/N: I would like to deeply apologize to my fellow fanfic authors and loyal reviews for the 3 month wait to finally update this chapter. I meant to have it posted by last weekend, but I had a serious writer's block the last couple of weeks and had incredibly busy workloads the past couple of days at the hospital where I work. The 8th chapter will be up and about by next weekend, I swear.
