This is a very short Plagg centric fic, and it takes place sometime after Despair Bear.
Enjoy!
Dignity
Adrien shot upright with a gasp, unintentionally catapulting a sleeping Plagg across the room. The Kwami stopped just short of slamming into the far wall, and eyed Adrien with displeasure.
The boy remained ignorant of the glare Plagg continued to level at him, as he was too busy panicking.
"I touched Marinette inappropriately!" he exclaimed, clutching the sides of his head as if he could hold in the shattered pieces of his dignity.
Plagg blinked and darted over into Adrien's field of vision.
"No you didn't," Plagg drawled.
Adrien shook his head. "I did! And she probably hates me, but she's too nice to say it to my face!"
Plagg decided that arguing about whether the girl hated him or not would do absolutely no good, so he chose to focus on the more important of the issues.
"I know I nap a lot, but I would've noticed something like that," Plagg said. His squeaky voice rose an octave at the end as he questioned whether it were actually possible to miss Adrien touching Marinette in a way that was more than friendly.
"At Chloe's party," Adrien stage whispered.
He looked incredibly guilty, but Plagg still wasn't convinced that it actually happened.
"So what happened?" Plagg asked.
Adrien pulled his blanket up until only his eyes and the top of his head were visible. Plagg resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the kid's theatrics.
"I had my hands around her waist," Adrien whispered, as if he'd committed a crime of the most grotesque variety.
Plagg groaned.
"You fling me across the room at three in the morning for this?" the Kwami spat.
Adrien looked offended. "Well, excuse me if I couldn't realize that I'm a scoundrel at a more convenient time for you," Adrien retorted.
Plagg rolled his eyes. "There was nothing inappropriate about that. Go to bed."
"I can't go to bed! My conscience is eating me alive," Adrien whined.
"Look," Plagg said. "If Marinette didn't want you to touch her, she would've told you off."
Adrien looked as if he wanted to argue, but then his mouth snapped shut with an audible clack. Plagg mentally rejoiced.
"You're right. She is really tough," Adrien admitted.
Plagg nodded. "See, everything's fine. Go to sleep."
This time, Adrien obeyed his order and slumped down into his fluffy pillow with a sigh. Plagg decided to avoid sleeping on his chest for the remainder of the night, as he had no desire to be flung across the room again should Adrien have another realization in the middle of the night.
Plagg listened to sound of the boy's breathing evening out, and allowed a small smile to tug at his lips.
"Silly kid," he mumbled groggily as he curled up on an unused pillow. Thankfully, Adrien seemed to be finished with his outbursts and Plagg was able to sleep comfortably by his side.
