Write About a Tragic Parting

Summary: What if only Annabeth fell into Tartarus?

My Submission to the September 1-15th prompts for the Camp Half-Blood Forum.

"Annabeth!" Percy screamed as he grabbed her hand, his other hand grabbing a large rock, stopping her from falling into the endless void leading to who knows where.

He was losing his grip as tears streamed down his face, he couldn't lose her again.

He tried to call for the others to help him, but he couldn't find his voice. All he could do was gasp in pain as he felt his skin ripping from where his other hand was holding onto the rough surface of the rock and feeling like he was playing a game of tug a war, except that he was the rope.

"Percy…" Annabeth felt tears in the corner of her eyes as she looked into her boyfriend's sea green eyes full of sadness. "Let me go… If you don't we would both fall in…please." She asked with pleading eyes.

"Wise girl…" He looked back at his other friends who were trying their best to get to them but were fighting Arachne's children, those who were angry about them being ripped apart from their mother.

He looked back at his girlfriend, the daughter of Athena, the one he oh so wishes to spend his entire life with. He was the only one keeping her from falling into the hole. His hand tightened around hers, he didn't want to give her up.

"Let go," Annabeth growled, she wasn't just going to let Percy fall in with her, he had so much more to live for, his mom wants to see him again, she made him cookies, Grover wants to hug his best friend again too, the whole camp just wants to see him safe at camp, where he belongs. "I'll meet you at the end." They looked into each other's eyes for the last time.

"I love you." Annabeth dug her nails into the son of Poseidon's hand hard enough to draw blood as he opens his hand in pain causing her to fall into the darkness. "NO!"
