Enjoyable Lunch

Nick and Catherine stood in line in a fast food burger restaurant. They both were tired and extremely frustrated, they had already put in several overtime hours on their case but it hadn't done any good.

Finally, Nick suggested they take a break and go have some lunch, he was starving and his eyes hurt from staring at his computer screen for so long.

"Hi dude!" An excited little voice said from behind him.

Before Nick even turned around he knew who he would see.

"Hi Davis." Nick greeted Jackie's now former student.

Davis was probably the most entertaining student Jackie had ever had, Nick would miss her Davis' stories every night this upcoming school year and there was no doubt in his mind that Jackie would miss having him in her class.

"Where's Stokes?" the little boy asked, disappointed he didn't see his all-time favorite teacher.

Nick glanced at his watch, Jackie was probably at the park with the kids, she was trying to do as many fun things with the kids as possible these last couple weeks of summer break and she liked to take them to the park earlier in the day before it got so hot.

"She's probably at the park." He answered him with a smile.

"Who is this lady dude? She's quite a looker. I don't think Stokes would like it if she knew you were with her."

Nick had to turn back around from the child and bite lips really hard to keep from bursting out laughing. Catherine also tried not to laugh, she didn't have a clue who this child was but she liked him.

When Nick finally got control of himself he turned back around.

"This is my coworker Catherine. Catherine this is Davis."

"Hi Davis." Catherine greeted him.

"Hi woman." Davis told her with a smile.

This child is too much, I'm going to beg Jackie to flunk him just so he can be in her class again next year, he is too entertaining. Nick thought to himself.

"Davis, come on, you're suppose to be getting ketchup." A woman called from a booth.

Nick turned around and noticed an elderly lady, Davis' grandmother, Nick guessed.

"Sorry grandma, I got dispatched." The child called back.

His grandma laughed.

"You mean you got distracted?" She asked him.

"Yep." Davis answered with a rapid shake of his head.

"Bye dude, tell Stokes I said hi."

"I will." Nick assured him.

"Don't forget." Davis told him as he shook his finger in Nick's face, as if in stern warning.

"I won't forget, I promise."

"Bye." The little boy said as he turned toward Catherine.

"Goodbye." She answered.

After getting their food Nick and Catherine sat down at a table way across from Davis and his grandmother.

"How's your burger dude?" Catherine asked Nick with a grin.

Nick laughed.

"Good, yours?"

"Good."

"Ready to get back to work, or are you quitting your job as a CSI and now becoming a model, since you are quite a looker?" Nick asked teasingly after they had finished eating.

Catherine laughed.

"Right now I'll stick with being a CSI but it's nice to know I have options." She replied.

The two friends then left the restaurant so they could go back to work
