Keith's arms wrap around her tight as she collides with him and they go tumbling. He briefly assesses her face and seems satisfied by what he sees before he is up and charging the enemy. Pidge quickly follows suit, sparing a brief thought of how it always seems Keith catches her.
Later, after the battle is over and they have returned home, Pidge is sitting on the floor in one of the spare rooms, gaze focused on the screen as she goes about annihilating her enemies.
There is a knock at the entrance of the room, and Pidge grunts in acknowledgment. She launches a cool super-attack and can't help but smirk in satisfaction.
"You okay? I didn't get a chance to speak to you earlier."
Judging from the voice it was Keith.
"I'm fine," she says as she glances over at him and holy fuckballs she was not prepared for him to be half-naked! When did he get so….muscularly defined? The man must have also just gotten out of the shower because his hair was wet and she could track a water droplet making its way down his left pectoral. The pectoral which was steadily getting closer. Why was it getting closer?
Keith walked over and pressed the start button on her controller, pausing the game.
"Huh?"
"It's not like you to let yourself get killed in your game. You sure you're okay?"
A calloused hand gently takes her chin and he tilts her head back and forth, examining her eyes carefully.
Pidge gulps. Keith is handsome, worried about her, and his half-nakedness is right in her face and just ugh. Hormones are hitting her hard right now. She misses the days of being immune to the attractiveness of people.
Right. Better respond.
"I'm fine Keith. Just got a bit distracted."
"If you're sure…" Keith shrugs and lets his hand drop. She misses its warmth immediately. Quiznak.
"All good," she grins, hoping it will reassure him.
"Good. Have fun decimating the…" he looks at the screen, "bebobees? Why are bebobees the enemy?"
"It's an old Galran game."
"Ah, got it."
She pretty much expects him to leave at this point, which will be good for her to get some control over herself.
"Can I play?"
It's unexpected, and throws her for a loop. Keith has never shown much interest in video games before.
"Sure."
Her awkwardness fades away as she teaches Keith to play the game. They laugh together and share in their mutual dismay as the Galran 'hero' gets decimated by the bebobees.
"You suck!" Pidge laughs and doubles over.
Keith looks a bit petulant, "It wasn't that funny."
"Was too," she argues.
Keith huffs, then admits, "Okay, maybe it was."
She smiles, satisfied. Keith hands over the controller.
"I'm going to head for bed."
Her heart feels heavy at that and she realizes it's disappointment.
"Okay," she smiles weakly.
He moves to go, but then he hesitates at the door.
"Do you wanna hangout like this again, sometime?"
His dark eyes look so earnest, and her face breaks into a huge smile.
"Yeah!"
Notes: I wanted to write something for Kidge, a pairing I have always liked but recently been reading more of. I hope you enjoyed. Please feel free to leave a comment! Also, as far as time line goes: heck if I know.
