Kamen Rider Blade: The Cards of Fate

Chapter 4: Fly, or Drop

It was now lunch break for the students of Homurahara Academy, and Kouji and Shinichi took this chance to discuss things with Jeanne, Rin, and Luvia as they were now on the school roof.

"So what's up? Why did you two calls up here?" Rin asked.

"Okay, I'll just get straight to the point...Why did you three transfer to our school?!" Kouji asked.

"It's a part of our cover." Jeanne said. "Don't forget that we Magus are supposed to be secret from the rest of the world. So we needed to blend in here in this city, and that's by attending this school until our mission to collect the Class Cards is complete."

"Well when you put it like that, I guess that makes sense." Shinichi said in understanding.

"But still why our school of all places?" Kouji asked.

"Well it's mostly because Illya attends the elementary division here. It's best that I'm close to her in case something happens." Rin answered.

"Same with me for Miyu. Especially since she just transferred here." Luvia said.

"Okay...wait Miyu-chan just transferred here?" Kouji asked.

"Yes, is that a problem?" Luvia asked.

"Ummm...no ma'am." Kouji said.

"In any case, like I said before this is only temporary until we collected all of the Class Cards. After that we'll leave and return to the Clock Tower." Jeanne told them.

They then heard the school bell ringing.

"And there's the bell. We should head back to class." Shinichi said and they nodded in agreement as they headed to their classroom.

'Man, this is not how I expected today to turn out.' Kouji thought.

(Round ZERO~BLADE BRAVE by Nanase Aikawa)

The song starts by colored lights shining in a dark room, revealing Kamen Riders Blade, Garren, and Chalice who were kneeling before they stood up.

The setting soon moves into a similar place and all the main characters of the story so far are standing on separate platforms with black suits.

(Tatta hitorikiri kimi no sonzai ga) The camera zooms in on a few of the characters before zooming in on Kouji Kenzaki, who took a bite out of an apple he was holding and smiled. Then it moves to Shinichi Tachibana who was kicking a soccer ball around.

(Itsuka sekai no subete kaeru darou) Then it moved to Illya who was spinning around with Ruby flying around her. Then we see Miyu waving her hand as Sapphire flies onto her shoulder. We then see Luvia doing her laugh which annoys Rin as she growls at her, which made Jeanne sighs seeing those two bickers. Then moves to Shirou doing a spin kick as he lands on his knee and foot before he raises his head up.

(Koko ni aru mo no wa kibou? Zetsubou?) We soon see Blade, Garren, and Chalice driving their bikes through a beach. We soon see Illya and Miyu wearing their magical girl outfits flying in the sky.

(Round Zero hajimatteru) We soon moved back to the Riders room where Blade, Garren, and Chalice were not far from each other and were next to their bikes, before they started practicing their weapons.

(Shiranai to iu tsumi to shirisugiru wana) The three continue practicing their weapons while we move to Illya and Miya doing the same using their Include weapons.

(Ugokenaku naru mae ni ugokidasou) We then move back towards Blade, Garren, and Chalice riding through the beach. Then it moves back to Chalice in the room practicing his weapon.

(Kaze ni mekurareta Card) The three Riders practice their weapons while posing. Blade was swinging his Blay Rouzer, Garren aiming his Garren Rouzer, and Chalice was swinging and spinning with his Chalice Arrow.

(Uranau you ni warau. Mayowanai hazu mo nai sore demo ashita wo sagase) We move to Albino Joker swinging in a separate room swinging his scythe around before he changes into the Kamen Rider Glaive practicing with his Glaive Rouzer as he swings it around.

(Mekurumeku unmei. Koware sou na jidai ni.) We then move back to Blade swinging his Rouzer upward. Then it changes to Blade, Garren, and Chalice riding down the beach.

(Kirifuda wa kimi no naka togisumasareta yuuki ni shite BLADE BRAVE!) Blade stops swinging his sword for a brief moment as he lowers his Rouzer and stands up, before the logo appears as Garren and Chalice walk next to him.

(Later, at night)

After school was over, the Riders, Magus, and Magical Girls met up and waited until nightfall to go to the location where the next Class Card will be.

They soon arrived at the main bridge of Fuyuki City. They were standing by on the waterfront with Rin and Illya and Luvia and Miyu standing in front of each other, with Kouji, Shinichi, and Jeanne standing in the middle.

Kouji saw the look on Illya's face as she was staring at Miyu, and wondered if something happened between them.

"Don't lower your guard, Illya. Be wary of both the enemy and Luvia." Rin told her.

"Uh, um…" Illya mutters.

"We wouldn't want to get caught up in their fight, after all." Ruby said.

"Miyu, strike fast. Close the distance as soon as we start. And do your best to catch Tohsaka Rin in your attack, too." Luvia told her, which causes the Riders to sweatdrop.

"Understood, save the latter part." Miyu said.

"Please refrain from giving instructions to murder." Sapphire said.

"I have to agree with the talking wand there." Shinichi said.

"God, I swear you two...You shouldn't drag these girls into your petty rivalry." Jeanne sighs before she looks at her watch and sees it was almost midnight. "Well anyway, it's almost midnight. Ruby, Sapphire, if you would begin please.

"You got it." Ruby said.

"Understood, ma'am." Sapphire nodded.

Illya and Miyu readies the Kaleidosticks.

"Forming limited-dimension Mirror Road." Both Kaleidosticks said as a magic circle that has a star on them appeared beneath their feet, which surprised the Riders. "Beginning partial inversion of Mirror World Circuits."

"Okay, let me see if I got this straight. Each Class Card is in a separate dimension called the Mirror World, which is technically a version of a part of the city, correct?" Shinichi asked.

"In a way, yes." Rin said. "And believe it or not, Ruby and Sapphire as the power to enter and leave the Mirror World."

"And just when our lives couldn't get any weirder." Shinichi said.

"You know, you don't have to come along. We won't blame you if you decided to stay here." Jeanne told him and Kouji.

"Don't worry, it's fine. We're already here, so we might as well see this through." Shinichi said.

"Yeah, and I want to help collect the Class Cards as soon as I can. Plus, I want to help Illya-chan with this." Kouji said.

"Alright, if that is your wish then." Jeanne said.

"Okay, we're almost ready." Ruby told them.

"Guess, we better prepare then." Shinichi said as he brought out his Buckle and Rouze Card.

"Yeah." Kouji said as he brought out his own Buckle and Card.

They soon inserted the Cards into their respective Buckles, and placed them on their waists.

"Henshin!" They said before they flip on their Buckles.

TURN UP

Kouji transforms into Blade, and Shinichi transforms into Garren.

Soon Illya and Miyu had teleported them into the Mirror World.

"Jump." Both Illya and Miyu said as they teleported to the Mirror World.

(5 minutes later)

The group of Kamen Riders, Magus, and Magical Girls, had teleported out of the Mirror World, and they were slightly beaten up as they were on the ground groaning in pain.

"Oh man…" Blade mutters as he sits up and reverts back into Kouji. "That was certainly a painful first experience…"

"With you on that…" Garren said as he sits up as well before he reverts back into Shinichi.

"My, that was a splendid defeat…" Ruby said as she flew in front of them. "No less than an historical defeat."

"Wh-What was with that enemy?" Rin said as she sat up and placed her hand on her head.

"What is the meaning of this?" Luvia exclaimed as she stretched out Sapphire to punish the Kaleidostick. "I thought Kaleid Liners were supposed to be invincible!"

"Yeah sure take your frustrations out on a talking wand." Kouji said with a narrow look.

"Please stop taking it out on me, Luvia-sama." Sapphire calmly told her.

"Ruby Thumbing!" Ruby said as she slams her bottom end into Luvia's eye.

Luvia was now rolling on the ground with her hands on her eye, as Ruby was in front of her sister sapphire to defend her.

"I won't allow anyone to bully Sapphire-chan!" Ruby told her. "And if you think magical girls are invincible, you're conceited."

"I have to agree with Ruby on that one." Jeanne said as she slowly stood up and dusted off her clothes. "Well, they do have the ability to overwhelm most opponents, but there are still issues of affinity."

"So, the enemy with the worst affinity was that one." Rin said as they remember their one sided fight against the Heroic Spirit they have encountered.

(Flashback)

The group had arrived in the Mirror World, and the Riders were surprised on how distorted it was. There was a thin mist that covered the ground around them and the sky itself changed as well, almost like they were looking at light bouncing off of dozens of glass panels.

"So this place is the Mirror World?" Blade asked.

"Yes, thought I must admit, this is my first time being here as well." Jeanne said.

Garren then notices something in the sky above them.

"Hey, is that normal here?" Garren asked and they all turned to the sky and saw over thousands of purple magic circles above them.

"No it's not. And look!" Jeanne said as she pointed at something else in the sky, and saw the Heroic Spirit.

It was a woman, with long violet hair and wearing a black cloak and hood on her shoulders with a purple dress and shoes, and wielding a staff in her hand.

"What is this?" Illya asked. "There are so many…"

"Hey, Ruby, does this mean…" Rin said.

"Yeah, it would've seemed that she was…" Ruby said before as several red laser pointers from the magical circles had pointed on their bodies. "Fully prepared for us."

With a flick of her staff the Heroic Spirit fired magical beams at them from the magic circles.

"Ruby!" Jeanne said as she clapped her hands.

"On it!" Ruby said as Jeanne slammed her hands on the ground as she created a dome made out of rock from the ground, and Ruby created a magical force field beneath the dome to protect them from the beam attack. "Expend barrier to maximum scale!"

The first wave of beams broke through the earth dome as the second wave hit on the force field as it withstood the attack and the power of the Spirit's attack created a large smoke cloud around them.

The earth dome broke apart and Illya dropped the barrier.

"I-It hurts! And it's hot! What is this?" Illya asked as Rin sits up.

"How is it penetrating an A-rank magical barrier?" Rin said.

"She must have a considerable amount of magic power if she was able to break through it." Jeanne said.

"Then what can we do?" Ruby asked as she placed her wing on her head.

"A long-range fight is fine with me." Luvia said, getting the others attention as they turned to her. "Miyu, take her down!"

Miyu jumps forward.

"Don't forget about me." Garren said as he followed her and brought out Fire and Scope Cards and scanned them on his Rouzer.

FIRE

SCOPE

"Maximum output. Shoot" Miyu said as she and Garren fired an energy shot at the Heroic Spirit, but she blocked their combined attack by using several magical shields.

"No way?" Garren gasped in shock.

"Huh? It deflected those attacks?" Rin gasped in shock.

"That's a mana directional control field? On such a large scale?" Luvia said.

With Scope's power still in effect, Garren noticed the Heroic Spirit was moving lips rapidly.

"Be careful, she's up to something." Garren told them before they saw a tornado appearing around as it entraps them.

"This is not good." Blade said before they saw the Heroic Spirit flying above them and the tornado.

"W-We're in a deadly pinch for sure!" Illya said in fear, as the Heroic Spirit created several layers of magical circles in front of each other each being bigger to smaller.

"This isn't good...We need to fall back!" Jeanne said.

"R-Right! Miyu!" Luvia said, and Miyu was already on it as she readies Sapphire.

"Forming Mirror Road! Beginning partial inversion of Mirror World Circuits!" Miyu said.

"Hurry! Hurry!" Rin and Luvia told her.

The Heroic Spirit channels her magical power through the magical circles and fires a red beam at them...but thankfully they were able to escape in time without suffering critical injuries.

(End of flashback)

"My goodness! That's against the rules!" Luvia stated.

"Jeez, that was well beyond magic, wasn't it? No wonder our barrier wasn't enough to stop it." Ruby said.

"That hurt…" Illya said.

"Well despite the fact we've lost, that encounter gave me a good idea on which class that Heroic Spirit was." Jeanne said, getting the others attention.

"Really?" Kouji asked.

"Yes." Jeanne nodded. "She's most likely Caster of the Magus. Well they may be considered the weakest of all seven Classes, they make up for it by using powerful and ancient magecraft, that were lost to the ages. And by the level of her attacks, she must at least date back to Greek or Norse mythology."

"I agree with Jeanne-sama. Those magic circles and incantations belong to no modern school. In simpler terms, it was magic from the Age of Myth." Sapphire said.

"That mana reflection field is a problem, too. As long as she has that, none of our attacks will hit." Rin said.

"Not only that, her attack circles and reflection field were both fixed-coordinate types. We need to find a way to get past those magic circles." Jeanne said.

"And it's not just her artillery fire either. There's also the fact she has air superiority, and sadly none of us has the means to fly." Shinichi told him.

"Well, it's funny that you should mention that. Because, these two were capable of flying with Ruby and Sapphire before they broke their contract with them." Jeanne stated as she turned to Rin and Luvia, and Illya overheard her which caused her to smile.

"Wait, really?" Kouji asked.

"Yes…" Jeanne sighs as she mends her temple. "And if they had learned to keep their temper in check, they would've used Ruby and Sapphire to defeat that Spirit with ease."

"You're...still not going to let that go are you?" Rin asked.

"Yes." Jeanne said which made Rin and Luvia look down in shame.

"In that case, can't we teach Illya-chan and Miyu-chan to fly. That would be a great help against that Spirit." Kouji suggested.

"I'm afraid it's not that simple. Even if we do start teaching them, it will take us weeks maybe even months for them to fly in the sky. And sadly we don't have that kind of time." Jeanne told the Riders.

"Well so much for that idea then." Kouji said as he rubs the back of his head.

"Umm...excuse me?" Illya called out to them.

"What is it, Illya-chan…" Kouji said as he and the others turned to her, but blinked when they saw Illya was now gone.

"Up here." They look up and to their surprise they see Illya floating about 10 feet in the air.

"Illya-chan?! You're floating?! I mean you're flying?!" Kouji said in shock.

"But how is that possible?! It took me and Luvia at least a month to fly about 5 feet in the air?! Just what did you do to reach that height?!" Rin asked loudly.

"Isn't flying a natural trait for Magical Girls?" Illya asked.

They sweat drop when she says that.

"Well I guess that's the mind of a 10 year old for you…" Kouji said as he scratched his finger on his cheek.

"With you on that." Shinichi nodded in agreement.

"It seems like my Magical Girl is better than yours." Rin stated, with a cheeky grin as she looked at Luvia with a victorious look in her eyes.

"W-Well if Illyasviel can do it, then so can Miyu!" Luvia stated before she turned to Miyu. "Miyu! You fly as well!"

The others turned to Miyu, and the latter showed them a straight emotionless face.

"People can't fly." Miyu stated directly, which stunned Luvia, and Rin chuckles in a teasing tone, and the others wonder what kind of childhood she has.

"Wh-What a dreamless child!" Luvia said before she grabs onto Miyu by her cape and begins to drag her away. "You'll never fly, thinking that way. Come! We'll train you to fly by tomorrow!"

The others watch them leave as Illya lands back to the ground.

"I swear that girl…" Jeanne sighs as she pinches her nose.

"Good grief, then that's it for tonight." Rin said as she rubs the side of her head before she turns to the others. "I'll try to work out a few strategies, too."

"Can we actually beat that thing?" Illya asked.

"We will! No matter what it takes!" Rin said.

"You're better not think of this as a competition between you and Luvia." Jeanne said.

(Meanwhile)

Unknown to the Riders and their friends, is that the hooded man has been watching them on top of a rooftop.

"Hmm...so they were defeated by the Heroic Spirit. No doubt, they're going to train and prepare themselves for their next battle." He said before he thought on how he was going to make his move. "The only question now is, how am I going to make my move?"

He thought about it for a while before he made his decision.

"The master did say I'm free to do whatever I want, and he told me to keep an eye on those two girls, so maybe just this once I'll do them a favor. And to help spice things up for them and for me as well." He said as he leaves as well to prepare for tomorrow.

(Next day)

While Illya, Miyu, Luvia, Rin, and Jeanne were planning, preparing, and training for their rematch against Caster, Kouji and Shinichi decided to train as well.

They were in a ruined building that was abandoned, and they were in their respective Kamen Rider forms as they were in front of each other.

Blade soon charges at Garren and punches at him, and Garren dodges and parries punches before he counters by kicking at Blade and the latter blocks his kick by using his arms and when his kick makes contact Blade is sent skidding backwards.

Blade soon stops skidding as he charges at Garren once again to kick at him a few times, and Garren dodges his kicks before he dodges his next kick by spinning backwards. As he was spinning Garren soon drew out his gun and fired at Blade, but Blade soon pulled out his sword to deflect his gunfire.

Blade opens up his Rouzer's card storage and pulls out the Mach Card and scans it on his weapon.

MACH

Blade absorbs Mach's power as he dashes at Garren high speed, as Garren fires at Blade but uses his enhanced speed to dodge his gunfire as he keeps moving towards Garren.

Blade then moves to Garren's back and slashes at and Garren spins around and aimed his gun at him as Blade stops his attack with his sword closed to Garren's neck.

"Looks like this is a draw." Blade said.

"Seems so." Garren said in agreement before they lowered their weapons.

They soon heard a door opening and saw Jeanne walking through a doorway as she entered the building.

"Hello you two. I'm here to discuss our plans-!" Jeanne started before she almost tripped on herself due to the rocks on the floor as she steadied herself, before she looked around in shock that she's now in a ruined building. "What the...What is this?"

"Oh sorry about that." Garren said as he brought out a handheld device with several buttons and pressed on the large one in the center, which turned the ruined building they were into the family dojo of the Tachibana house.

"Well this is a surprise. Did you make this Shinichi?" Jeanne asked as she looked around.

"More or less. I reconfigure the dojo to a training facility using the latest of AR simulations and hard light technology. All provided by BOARD." Garren said as he pressed on the other buttons on the device in his hand, which changes the dojo into a park, he then pressed on other buttons which made a virtual copy of the Locust Undead to appear. "Amazing, I know. We don't know when the next Undead will appear, so I figure this would be the best way to keep our skills sharp."

"But still this is amazing." Jeanne said as she walks to the VC of the Locust Undead and touches it. "And it almost feels real."

Garren then presses the button to change the dojo back to normal before he and Blade change back into their civilian forms.

"Well anyway, you said you're here to discuss your plans, right?" Shinichi asked.

"Oh yes of course." Jeanne said before she spoke with Shinichi about the strategy against Caster, as they were talking Kouji wonders how Illya and Miyu are doing.

(Meanwhile)

After Illya had met with Miyu during her practice and found Miyu in a carter after Luvia pushed her off a helicopter.

Illya then offered to help Miyu to fly and she accepted, but still had trouble flying like she does. After Sapphire explains the basics of learning to fly, Illya then has a somewhat perfect example for her.

Illya soon brought Miyu to her home, where they watch her DVDs of her favorite magical girl anime, where they watch the main character flying in the sky which stunned Miyu as she watches.

"Th-This…" Miyu said.

"Yes…" Illya said as she was a little embarrassed to show Miyu. "It's one of the main sources of my image of magical girls...Though it's embarrassing to admit."

"This absurd act ignores aerodynamics. Not to mention gravity, inertia, and the third law of motion." Miyu said.

"Well, it's anime, so you shouldn't think so hard about it." Illya told her.

"I wonder if Miyu-sama could fly if she were to watch all of this anime." Sapphire said as she flew to her side, and Miyu lowered her head.

"No, it's probably impossible…" Miyu said as she clenched her hand. "Even watching this, I don't understand the principles behind her flight. It doesn't give me a concrete image. She doesn't appear to use buoyancy, as a blimp does. So I can only imagine it falls under the laws of flight pertaining to airplanes that center around lift. But if so, then the formula for lift…"

As she went on, Illya was further stunned by her words as she held her head as she started to become dizzy.

"Ruby Forehead Smack!" Ruby said as she punched Miyu's forehead to make her stop as she fell to the floor.

"Wh-What are you…" Miyu said as she sat up and Ruby placed her wings on her hips.

"Jeez, Miyu-san, your base ability is incredible. However, using your head like that is no good for a magical girl." Ruby said before she pointed at Illya. "Look at Illya-san...She's ignoring the logic and processes, but imagining the results. That kind of mindless optimism is ideal for a magical girl!"

"But it sounds like you're really insulting me!" Illya said as she was offended by the Kaliedostick's compliment.

"Well…" Ruby said as she placed her wings on her 'chin' and 'hip'. "I'll leave you these words, Miyu-san. 'Everything that humans can imagine is made possible through magic'. It's a quotation by the sorcerer who created us!"

"Not through physics?" Miyu asked.

"It's all the same!" Ruby told her.

"Well, in other words, isn't it like this?" Illya said, getting their attention. "Don't think! Imagine!"

Miyu's eyebrow twitches to hear that.

"Though, uh, it doesn't seem like you accept that…" Illya said, and Miyu sighs before she stands up.

"I kind of understand how you think." Miyu said, which made Illya smile to hear that.

"R-Right!" Illya nodded. "You'll be fine, Miyu-san...Good luck!"

Miyu and Sapphire take their leave as Miyu opens the door, not before turning to Illya before she and Sapphire leave as she closes the door behind her.

"Later, then." Miyu said as she closed the door.

"She's gone." Ruby said.

"Considering she said I shouldn't fight yesterday, I think we've made progress." Illya said.

"Now if only you two could work together as a team, things would be perfect, but…" Ruby said.

"Yeah." Illya nodded. "You're right."

(Later)

It was closed to midnight, the Riders and their allies were by the bridge as they were ready for their rematch against Caster.

As Rin gives Illya and Miyu their roles, Illya turns to Miyu and wonders if she managed to learn how to fly now, and Kouji notices that.

"Hey, Illya-chan, did something between you and Miyu-chan?" Kouji asked.

"Oh no, it's nothing like that. Earlier, I tried to help her to figure out how to fly." Illya told him.

"Really? Well ain't that nice of you." Kouji smiled as he patted her on the head.

"K-Kouji-san…" Illya said as she was a little embarrassed by what he was doing.

"Hey, you two, are you listening?" Rin asked, which made Kouji stop as he and Illya turned back to her.

"Oh sorry about that." Kouji said.

"And don't worry, I pretty much got it." Illya said.

"Now, then! Time for our rematch! We won't let another loss slide. Let's go." Rin told them, and they nodded in agreement.

They were about to enter Mirror World, but they soon heard cracking sounds behind them. They turned around and to their shock large cracks started to appear in front of them.

"What on earth?" Jeanne said.

"Ruby? What's going on?" Illya asked.

"This is just a guess. But I think someone might have beaten us to it." Ruby said.

It shattered into pieces and in its place was a man wearing a dark hood.

He then turns to the group and smiles at them.

"It's about time you show up. I was starting to get bored of waiting." He told them.

"Who are you? And where did you just come from?" Jeanne asked.

"I think that should be pretty obvious." He said as he showed them two Class Cards to their shock it was the Card of Caster from yesterday and the Card of Saber.

"Wait there were two Cards in there?" Kouji asked in shock.

"I think that should be the least of our worries. How on earth did you get those?" Shinichi asked.

"Sorry, but I don't have time to waste on answering pointless questions. But I do want something from you guys." He said before he reached out his hand. "Your Class Cards, hand them over to me."

"And why should we do that? If anything, we should ask you to hand those Cards to us." Luvia stated.

"Yeah, what she said." Rin said in agreement.

"I see if that's the case…" He said as he brought out a Buckle and Rouze Card.

The Buckle was colored black and silver, with a red circle on the front, and the Rouze Card was a Category Ace Change Card with the picture of cerberus on it.

Seeing those items in his hands surprised them.

"Wait, those are…" Shinichi mutters in shock.

"I'll have to take them by force." He said as he inserted the Card into the Buckle, and placed it on his waist, and a red belt appeared around him to secure it. "Henshin!"

He then flips on his Buckle to open it up, to reveal the letter 'A' on it that was colored yellow.

OPEN UP

A golden holographic card appears from his Buckle, before it went through the hooded man to change him into a Kamen Rider.

He was now wearing a black bodysuit with golden armor reminiscent of the letter 'A' in the center of his chest and was flanked with silver shoulder armor. On his wrists were metal guards, while the black shin guards were on his feet. His helmet was also in the shape of the letter 'A' and had a red crystal in the middle.

This is Kamen Rider Glaive.

This further shocked them as they saw him transformed in front of them.

"A Kamen Rider?" Kouji said in shock.

"No way…" Shinichi mutters in shock.

Glaive slowly walks to them as he brings out a black and gold version of Kouji's Blay Rouzer. Glaive soon runs at them and attacks to battle them.
