DISCLAIMER; I never would have thought up that ending!

A Pair

Viola's humming filled her silent bedroom, bouncing off the walls and forming a strange tune that intertwined with the rainfall echoing off the roof. The rain outside was falling in time with her stitches, as though encouraging her to finish quickly.

"Ow," she winced, pain jolting her from her thoughts. Her green eyes watched as a drop of blood sprang up from her finger, though it quickly faded into the tiny crimson dress she was creating.

'I'm still no good at this...,' she sighed, setting down the needle in thought. 'Making these is a lot harder than just mending clothes... Alright! Let's do this! I'm sure Ellen will be happy, and it'll be a good surprise since I can't come today!'

Viola spared her window a glance, sticking her tongue out at the offending weather before a determined smile came across her lips as she turned back towards her project.

Frowning, Viola realized her needle was almost out of thread. A tad upset with the small setback, she reached for her sewing kit, only to realize she was completely out of red thread, the closest color to it being a dark pink.

Setting down the tackle box (it was her father's old one before the lock broke), Viola stood up from her bed, knocking off a few stuffed animals with her sudden movement.

Paying no mind to the toys, Viola stretched, trying to remember if there was anymore thread to be found in her house. "Ah! The storeroom should have some," she exclaimed out loud in her excitement.

'Just you wait Ellen! I'm sure you'll love my surprise, even if it is a few days late,' she thought, already rushing now that she held a destination in mind, blonde braids flying out behind her.

The small blonde wandered into her bedroom, a steaming cup of milk cupped in her hands and a quilt drapped lovingly over her hunched shoulders.

As soon as she closed the door behind her, she shrugged off the quilt, letting the object fall to the floor around her bare feet. Her traumatized expression quickly morphed into a curious one as her eyes scanned the room.

A teddy bear and bunny were perched precariously on her bed, the sheets and blanket the stuffed animals were seated on a plain white.

A full length mirror stood beside the bed, a sky blue nightgown carelessly tossed over the wooden frame. 'I was probably in a hurry to visit Ellen,' the girl realizes, her lips twitching into a smile at the thought.

There was a nightstand next to the bed, though only a partially used candlestick and an old tackle box sat atop it. The only drawer had been left open, and the blonde wandered over to it, unable to hold in her curiosity as she peered inside.

Sitting inside were a pair of dolls, both handmade. One was unfinished, but the single completed doll was enough for the girl's brilliant emerald eyes to widen in pleasant surprise.

The finished doll had long, purple hair held back by a crimson colored bow and bright golden buttons for eyes. The dress matched what the younger girl wore exactly, though there was a slightly darker shade of red on the edge of the carefully crafted dress.

"Blood," the blonde realized, lips curving into a smile as she let out a sweet giggle. "How fitting."

The other doll only had it's body finished, the green button eyes striking the girl as lonely with it being left incomplete. Her hand reached inside to grab it, though the girl paused briefly to admire her sun kissed skin.

"I'll finish you, little Viola."

I...have nothing to say, actually. I got the idea and went with it. Oh well, hope you enjoyed this chappy!
