My favorite part of videogames are the stories they tell. Today's games have such beautiful stories and emotional attachment, but games like Tetris, Pong, and of course Minesweeper don't have those stories.
Here is my attempt at a little context, at least.

The ringing finally stopped. Little flakes of plaster fell to the ground like snow. But this wasn't snow.

You wished it were. Here, in this barren, desolate wasteland. The sky is grey and humid, teasing you yet withholding rain. Taunting you.

Someone like you had lost. Their squadron would press f to pay their respects, grateful for people like you to take the hit for them. Your job was to clear the fields before they crossed. Someone like you had failed.

Someone like you.

A shout from your commanding officer pulls you back to here. Here, in the middle of a minefield.

They're relying on you.
