GAME OF SOULS
chapter one — what a pity
"Long live the king! Long live the king!" screamed a young boy, no older than either. "King Aizen Lannister is a blessing!" he added, his tattered trousers and muddied face showing stark irony to his words.
"Tch." In the corner of the market stood a tall, well-built man with crossed arms. His hair was a deep cerulean that matched the blue of his eyes. He wore a hood, but he could not hide the unkempt locks poking out from under it. His visage was one of contempt and condemnation. He watched as the royal guards—of course, not the kingsguard—handed out small loaves of bread to a long, winding line of poor folk. "Buying the love of the people with bread? You cunning fuck."
Grimmjow could not fault the King too much, however. If the people were dumb enough to fall into the snake's mouth, was it really a shock to anyone that the serpent would clamp down?
Shrugging from the wall, Grimmjow moseyed through the crowd, shoved past the line, and headed toward the more vacuous parts of the city. His sword was heavy at his side, and it was the only thing that provided him comfort these days. Soon, he would make his way to Winterfell and shove that very blade in every Stark's neck. It would be a slaughter that finally would permit him to sleep at night. Until then, his eyes refused to close.
Rukia was technically next in line to lead Winterfell. With her brother-in-law, Byakuya, already the Lord, much responsibility fell on the heiress. Byakuya's wife and child had died during childbirth, and she did not think he would ever marry again. He would never bear an heir. For that reason, Rukia was constantly surrounded by escorts and guards. But Rukia had other plans than living her entire life in the frozen tundra.
She wanted to mend the broken bridge between her family and the South. Byakuya, cold and obstinate as he was, would never entertain the idea. And so, she picked a night where most of the men rode out toward the Wall, and she escaped on horseback.
She rode slowly at first, afraid someone would see her. But after she was out of earshot of the gatekeepers, she kicked her horse and rode as quickly as she could. She rode for hours until her horse became tired. Stopping to allow the destrier some rest, food, and water, she decided to set up a makeshift camp in the woods. In her dress was a serrated blade that would cut through most materials and slip in between chainmail. It would protect her, she told herself to feel safe.
The path to and from Winterfell was a long one. She had not made it very far.
But Grimmjow had. In just a number of days, he was only hours outside of Winterfell. As he rode his horse slowly through the increasing snowy terrain, he stopped at the sight of fire, a horse, and a sleeping woman.
A/N: I decided to do something whacky and make a cross-over of Bleach and Game of Thrones. I am using the GoT universe and structure but not all of the events or cultures. For instance, I obviously cannot stick to the hair color conventions in GoT. The names sound odd as a mix of Japanese and English, but just try and look past that.
Main Characters: Grimmjow Clegane, Rukia Stark, Ichigo Baratheon, Toshiro Targaryen, Aizen Lannister, Soifon Arry, Rangiku Lannister, and Gin Targaryen
Side Characters: several; almost the entire Bleach cast
Do you have any characters you want included? Which house would you like them in? Would you like any pairings? For the record, I have not decided any pairings of the main characters other than Gin and Rangiku.
