Hey, guys! BD and GOTA, here, with another installment of "Shouto For The Weekend." In this chapter, Tenya and Ochako try once again to find ways to make Izuku's date with Shouto successful. Later, his mother Inko decides to give him more sound advice. What crazy and out-of-character events will occur? Read and find out! Enjoy!
It was a quarter before ten in the evening as Izuku and the gang were lying under the kotatsu watching Logan's Run. Tenya was tossing a tennis ball in the air while Ochako was looking at her cell phone on Facebook. However, Izuku was staring into a paradigm in which there was no place and time.
His heart was beating irregularly, sweat was creating a tiny reservoir underneath his head, and surprisingly he was aroused. Unsure it was out of fear, lying on the floor for too long, or still imagining Shouto's striped panties as she left him, either way, it went, the emerald-haired teen was at a standstill.
Is this a date or is it not a date?
Later that evening, Shouto sent him a text questioning their style of dress. She wanted to know what he was wearing to the theatres. Seeking answers, he had Tenya take over to make a suggestion. Tenya noted that it should be simple - a polo shirt and khaki jeans with a blazer. In response, the red-silver headed teen liked the idea. She told him that her form of wear would be a surprise. Later in the text, she wondered if they were eating afterward. Ochako took over and suggested going to a drink bar. An opportunity to enjoy a live band, sing karaoke and blend in with the crowd without being awkward.
Izuku appreciated the help of his dear friends. However, it didn't feel genuine. Even as the date drew near, what has he done to prepare himself for this date?
Or was it a hangout?
We are just watching movies, that's all! Lion King and that's it. Wait a minute? What about that song, "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" That was basically a G-rated love scene.
This is Shouto. The Iwa no Hana. She is a beauty, a gem, a hard rock diamond in the rough. Maybe she was feeling sorry for me and wanted to give the ticket to me. Like it was obligatory chocolate on Valentine's Day.
Oh, God! Is it true? Is she really doing that?
'So, Deku! What plans do you and Shouto have this weekend?'
Dread draped upon the tensed Izuku when remembering the incident between Bakugo and Kirishima. It was obvious that the duo was responsible for the whiteboard incident. It could be told by the kanji, mismatched characters, and spelling errors from the duo. Snickering and jeering filled the classroom throughout the entire day. Girls would giggle as he walked by. The other boys would make kissing noises and taunt him on his potential failure to launch.
It didn't help when Kayama-sensei substituted their Biology class and be fate or an unfortunate coincidence, the subject of today's lessons were focused on mitosis and meiosis. And it was Kayama-sensei that chose Izuku to stand and explain the process.
'Knowing for Deku, he will probably blow it.'
'Are you talking about the date or his pants?'
'What's the difference?'
I still see the shadows in my room. Can't take back the love that I gave you.
This is Don Lemon and you're watching CNN.
I did not have any sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky. But I am wearing her underwear.
"Izuku!" Izuku stared blankly into the concerned eyes on the brunette as she was using her flashlight app on her cell phone. "Are you okay? You were staring into space again."
Izuku nodded, rubbing his eyes as he tried gaining his composure. "Sorry! Just a lot on my mind."
Tenya took off his glasses as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. He could honestly understand Izuku's frustration. It was good enough that neither him nor Ochako have dating experience. It definitely didn't help when consulting Minoru for advice on dating videos. "Listen, Midoriya. I am sorry for allowing my judgement to override Minoru's 'self-help tapes.'"
Ochako clicked her tongue. "Angry Beavers, Booty Talk 11, and Quiero Chingar 9 are further from anything about relationships. If anything, being listed with Weinstein and Cosby."
Tenya nodded his head in disagreement. "Surprised Ohio State didn't recruit Minoru for University."
Izuku reached for his half-filled water bottle as he ingested the liquids. "Maybe I have bad luck. Maybe it is hard for me to have this perfect thing with Shouto."
Ochako reached her hand to console her best friend. "Sweetie, it's okay. I don't think Shouto is the kind to judge."
"Of all of the guys at this school, you made the cut. Congrats," said Tenya.
Ochako frowned. "Your tone sounded like a backhanded compliment."
Iida rubbed the back of his shoulder with his awkward smile. "No! It wasn't. I mean Shouto got what she got. Some want filet mignon, others want pot roast."
"Hate the game, not the player, Iida," retorted Ochako.
"I wasn't hating, I swear," retorted Iida defensively. "Just saying that some others want Audis, and there are those who want Hondas."
Izuku interjected. "Quit with the metaphors, Iida." He used the remote to turn off the television. "I know that dating me is like a public tragedy."
"Don't be too hard, sweetie," said Ochako. "At least you had the balls to accept her invitation." She lowered her eyes toward Tenya. "No offense!"
"None taken, D-Uracell!" Tenya clicked his tongue. "Maybe we are taking this too seriously." He sat up against the couch. "We're sixteen. You two are just going to the movies."
"This is serious, Iida," interjected Ochako while placing her hands on her hips. Her eyes drifted back to Izuku. "Sixteen is a critical age for any Japanese teenager if he plans to score."
"Plan to score," questioned Izuku.
"Like yeah," replied Ochako. She snapped her fingers. "If you see any dramas or reading manga, sixteen is that age in which we take it all the way." She pursed her lip. "Nine times out of ten, you and the girl tend to score."
Tenya sighed heavily. "True, but that still remains a stereotype."
"C'mon, Iida," interjected Ochako. "There wouldn't be love hotels on every block like churches in the American South. It is obvious that it is appealing to the popular demographic."
"That we are perverts and they are religious zealots?"
Ochako nodded approvingly. "Exactly! So, therefore, we must prepare for the unexpected. If Izuku is going to a movie, more than likely he is going to probably score."
"Quite atypical of you to care about such a subject, Uraraka," said Tenya.
"Izuku will probably be the first in this group to lose his virginity," retorted Ochako. "Our group has been herbivores for quite too long. Our class vice president, Yaoyorozu has scored. Jirou and Kaminari have done. Even Tsunotori and Monoma have done it. Rotors and plastic can do so much, Iida." Her eyes were wide as saucers. Izuku and Tenya could tell that this upcoming event was very important, especially how she was passionately speaking. "If Midoriya scores, then we are no longer the lame kids. Plus, this is Shouto, one of the most popular girls in school! And the fact we are Izuku's friends gets us a step up in the food chain. So, yes, I am hoping that this will be good. For all of us. It isn't just Izuku getting his cherry popped, but the fact we are part of this group is like we all got our cherry popped." She pointed at Izuku. "Ask not what we can do for you, but ask what you can do for us, Izuku. It's a rite of passage!"
Izuku decided to interject. "What does scoring have to do with this so-called rite of passage?" He took steady breaths. "What makes you think that Shouto is going to allow me to do this to her?" He extended his arms. "What am I? The kind of person who forces himself onto her with the hopes that she would eventually like it? Better yet, she thinks that she would be okay if I get on my knees and apologize afterward because I can't control my own penis?"
Tenya stared blankly momentarily before lowering his head. "Listen, Midoriya, you are correct. But, unfortunately, this kind of stance wouldn't survive in one of these stories. I get where you are coming from, but let's not get too political."
Izuku leaned his head back. "In other words, if we are going to make this happen, the only objective is to get through this." He slapped his thigh. "This kissing and maybe scoring is the last thing on my mind. What makes you think my intent is to score? Can I have a good time with a girl? This is Shouto Todoroki! This is my crush and not some damn piece of meat."
"We get it! We get it," retorted Ochako. "Sorry!" She pinched the bridge of her nose. "It isn't every day that we hear this. The entire school is always talking about losing their virginity or trying to score with the next girl." She placed her hand gently on Izuku's shoulder. "Now, you have Todoroki who asks you out on a date. It is like going from a tricycle to a Mercedes. Then, you have people like Bakugo and Kirishima on you with the hopes that you fail."
Tenya intervened. "What Uraraka is saying is that this is important. For us. You going out with Todoroki is like we have all won the prize. It gets tiresome when others look at us as the misfits because we are these so-called herbivores."
"Here is the thing," replied Izuku. "I am not everybody else. I can speak for one person. And that is Izuku Midoriya." He sat back down. "Like I can't speak for you or Ochako." He pursed his lips as he tried to not further deviate from the matter at hand. "Seeing those tapes won't help me and needs to be placed in the furthest pit in hell. Secondly, we still haven't come up with a game plan on how to make this a successful date."
"I thought this was a hangout thing," questioned Ochako with a sly look followed by a Cheshire grin.
Izuku turned beet red from the response. "I mean, hangout." He sighed under his breath. "What have we accomplished so far."
Tenya decided to speak. "Besides being Lucy'd by Kodai and stopping by the store to buy bleach on the way home, absolutely nothing."
The trio was interrupted when they heard Izuku's mother entering the living room.
"Hey, kiddos," said the happy-go-lucky mother. "Iida and Uraraka, your parents called me to let you know that it is time to head home."
Izuku's best friends nodded in compliance. Tenya turned to Izuku while gathering his things. "Let's try again another time, Izuku." He gave the peace sign. "See you at school tomorrow."
Izuku nodded while returning the peace sign to Tenya. Ochako rushed to embrace her best friend. "Don't think too hard about it. Hopefully, a solution can come." She pecked him on the cheek. "Good Night!"
Inko watched as Tenya and Ochako walked to the front door. Once the door was closed, she turned her sights on her only son. "Surprised that you had your friends up this late on a school night."
Izuku sat up to sit on the couch. "They were helping me...on some advice."
Inko became flushed. She leaned her head against the wall when hearing the concern in his voice. "Is this over Shouto Todoroki."
Izuku immediately turned red in the face. It didn't go unnoticed as the happy-go-lucky portly mother produced a burst of boastful laughter. "Oh, Icchan! You reminded me of your father when I asked him out back when we were college students."
He awkwardly turned to his mother. "How did you know?"
She produced a smile. "Must you forget that a silver-headed mother and I attend the same Homeowners Association Meetings?" She walked over and made herself comfortable beside Izuku. "Your Auntie Rei told me everything about your date with her daughter."
"It's a hangout thing," interjected Izuku while murmuring.
She flicked his forehead. "Hangout, dating, it's all the same. It's a boy and girl going out." She narrowed her eyes. "Unsupervised anyway."
Izuku tucked his knees into his chest. The desire for spontaneous combusting was on his mind.
She delicately placed her arm around his tensed shoulders. "Goodness, dear. Learn to relax. This isn't a death sentence."
"Not according to Iida and Uraraka," he groaned. "Especially Kacchan and the others."
Inko pursed her lips. It appeared that she was unmoved by his overwhelmed teenage emotions. In a way, she found it cute. It indicated that her son really cared about Todoroki, especially when certain people were making him feel uncomfortable.
"Don't worry about the others, Icchan," she said calmly. "I don't keep up with the times, but I remember the saying that haters gonna hate."
The comment gave Izuku a brief chuckle.
"I know that Shouto means a lot to you. Not a day went by without you mentioning her name, sweetie."
He turned his head. "I never really mentioned my likeness of Shouto to you."
"In a way, you did. I can tell by your writings in your journal, certain things she likes you would do." She lowered her head. "At night time when I hear you call her name…."
He placed his hands over his mother's mouth. "Okay, Mom! Yes, I do like her. I like her a lot. She is the Iwa no Hana. She is the damsel of my dreams. The snow day to my Pro Hero exam. The broth in my katsudon. The sweet glaze on my cinnamon roll." Inko nudged his nose with her finger. "So, Pinocchio isn't here this time." She giggled. "Listen, baby, here is something that is going to help you succeed in this date."
"It's a hangout thing."
"Hangout thing, right," interjected Inko. "I know that seeking advice is helpful...in the right hands." She raised her hand, inciting silence. "And you are not going to find it with cheap counseling and tapes that are worse than your father's personal tapes. The fact I allowed this while I was home, I should ground you, but I will charge it to the game."
"Mom?"
"Kodai's mother is part of the committee and the theme of our meeting was New Orleans." She covered her mouth, trying to keep her composure. "Icchan, two things - be yourself and never fool with anyone from 63rd!"
"Mom?!"
"I am kidding, sweetie," she interjected. "Learn to laugh a little. Be yourself and be kind."
"What if I am a spaz," said Izuku. "What if she doesn't like me?"
"Sweetie, speculating is just another device planted by Satan to give you doubt," answered Inko. "If Shouto asked you out, she must have some kind of interest in you. And no one is going to give you a "spare" ticket to a Lion King movie." She momentarily frowned. "Tickets are currently back-ordered for me and your father."
"I am afraid, Mom. This is my first date."
"I thought this was a hangout thing?"
"Yeah, that. I have no experience. I've never kissed a girl." He turned to his mother. "What if she asks for a kiss. What if she wants to hold hands." He swallowed a lump in his throat. "What if she wants to...wants to…"
Inko placed her hands on each side of Izuku's face. "Icchan, breathe baby. You're overthinking. Like I've said to you, be yourself and be kind. You're a Midoriya! You have overcome obstacles way worse than dating. You were born quirkless, persevered with the bullying of others, and got accepted into a school where you didn't have the qualifications." She kissed him on the cheek. "You have wonderful friends and a certain best friend that turned your nickname into a term of endearment. I think going out with Shouto is a bit easier than your past obstacles. And don't worry about Kacchan, I will speak with his mother."
He groaned. "I don't want him to think I am a snitch."
"Should have thought about that before messing with my son. Plus, a certain blonde owes me $50. To think of my son couldn't get a date. Think again, Mitsuki!"
"What?"
She stood up. "It's late. Bath up and get some sleep. Tomorrow after school, we go by the mall and find you something to wear."
"Okay, Mom."
She kissed him on his forehead. "Good Night, Icchan. And baby, don't overthink and overlook the others. You are an awesome wonder as it is and having Shouto seeing that is finally being recognized. You're a shooting star!" She walked away before closing the door to her room.
Later that night….
Izuku was crawling into bed as the midnight hour was approaching. School was to be attended and in came another day of jeering and taunting about his upcoming date with Shouto.
After speaking with his mother, he tried not to let it bother him.
"Haters gonna hate," he said to himself as he used his hands to clap out the lights.
As the room turned to darkness, he nestled underneath his quilt. Staring at the ceiling, his thoughts were primarily on Shouto.
As he turned over to his side, he heard his text notification going off on his cell phone. Turning back to the other side, he picked it up. He presumed it to be another jeering text from Katsuki or Eijiro. Or maybe from Tenya or Ochako.
It was Shouto.
Sorry to disturb you this late, Izuku, but I couldn't help but think about what I am going to show you what I am wearing this weekend when we get together.
Attached to the text was an image.
It was Shouto taking a selfie in the dress that she was going to wear. It was a simple orange sundress with a silver necklace.
She sent another text.
I know I wanted it to be a surprise, but I couldn't help it. Forgive me! I look forward to going out with you this weekend. It's gonna be a blast. I hope you didn't lose my address. If you did, that's okay, I will text it to you. We are gonna have fun. See you Saturday at my place.
Izuku's heart skipped a beat. He decided not to respond to the text, concluding that if she were to ask, then he was asleep. Nervousness was brewing in his mind. A friend wouldn't text him this late into the night unless it was an emergency or a late-night rendezvous.
Izuku didn't have to debate any further about this. Turning back to his side, he decided to count his rapid heartbeats before falling asleep.
"This is so a date!"
To be continued….
