Sorry this has taken so long! And sorry it's so short compared to the last one, and that it seems a bit rushed. I'm just excited BECAUSE this is the last chapter!
You're wondering why I'm excited about that, yes?
Well, it's because I'll be starting on the spin-offs very soon! So be on the lookout for those! I'll post an extra chapter giving information on those afterwards!
Also! I hope everyone is staying safe out there! This virus isn't something to play with!
Once Richie calmed down, they sat on the couch for a few minutes, holding onto each other for dear life, laughing about how crazy it felt. After Dustin came back and knocked on the door, letting them know everyone was ready, they made themselves presentable and made their way to the reception hall.
"Please welcome, Mr. and Mr. Tozier-Kaspbrak!" Bev announced into her microphone and the doors opened, and everyone cheered, including Richie, who got a few laughs out of everyone. "Before we get anything started, we have a performance by Mike and El Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair and Max Mayfield!" Bev gave the newly wed couple a huge grin and Dustin led them to their seats, sitting between their moms.
"Richard, I just want you to know that I love you, and if it wasn't for that fact, I would never do this." Mike said into his mic. Richie snickered and leaned forward on the table, resting his chin on his hand.
"We've been practicing this for a month, dude. You better like it." El added, and looked at the rest of Trashmouth, who began playing their instruments.
Mike put the mic to his mouth and began singing, "Birds fly, they don't think twice! They simply spread their wings! The sun shines, it don't ask why! Or what the whole thing means!"
"Oh my God." Richie grinned, leaning back in his chair and clapping as Lucas continued.
"The same applies to you and I! We never question that! So good, it's just understood! Ain't no conjecture! Just a matter of fact!"
The couples started dancing together, just spinning each other around and swaying to the beat as they sang, laughter in their voices as all four of them began singing the chorus.
"Love is a wonderful thing! Make ya smile through the pouring rain! Love is a wonderful thing! I'll say it again and again! Turn your world into one sweet dream! Take your heart and make it sing! Love, love is a wonderful thing!"
They didn't sing the whole song, but the girls got their own solos before the end of it, and by then, the four were all out of breath- as was Richie, from laughing and making Eddie stand up and dance behind their chairs.
"That was fucking amazing!" Richie exclaimed, running around the table just to high five them all.
"Good, glad you enjoyed it." Mike said, leaning forward on his knees. "Cause I'm never doing it again." Richie cackled and clapped him on the back, and they all made their way to their seats.
"Wasn't that a lovely performance everyone? If you're wondering, the song is Love is a Wonderful Thing by Michael Bolton, one of his newer songs, that Richie and Eddie both love." Bev spoke into her mic from the other side of the dance floor, where the performance had taken place. "As you can already tell, this isn't your normal wedding. This isn't your normal couple, honestly. I mean, look at them. Richie is like that adorable, friendly poodle while Eddie is an evil hairless cat." the couple and a few of the guests laughed at that. "But anyways, what I was getting at- we're not starting off with a first dance. We're starting off with speeches, dinner, cake, the first dance, mother-son dances and then we can party for the rest of the night. How's that sound to everyone?" cheers went up and she clapped along with them. "Alrighty! First up is me, because I'm already standing here and Mike and El are still catching their breath." Mike threw up a middle finger and she snickered.
Bev walked closer to the table, standing in front of the newlywed couple.
"I have known you two since the summer of eighty five, and lord have mercy, the awkwardness between you two was nearly unbearable. I mean really, what took you two so damn long?" she asked.
"A clown, mostly." Richie replied and Eddie nodded in agreement.
"Ah, the clown. Yeah, that was a wild summer, huh? It's a long story, you guys don't wanna hear it." she waved at the rest of the guests. "I've known you two for nearly eight years now, although we haven't spent that much time together, due to the fact that I moved here after that summer- you get my point. We've known each other for a long time now- nowhere near as long as Bill's known you, boy do I feel for him."
"Beverly!" Eddie exclaimed. "We are not that bad." he grumbled.
"See? Angry hairless cat over there. Anyways, I love you guys, and I've been waiting for this day to come so that I could tell embarrassing stories about you guys, which is exactly what I'm about to do."
Bev's speech went on for a good twenty minutes, and ended up having the couple in tears, along with herself. After Bev went Bill, who kept it short and sweet, making sure to insult Richie at least three times in the nicest way possible for Stan, since he wouldn't be speaking. Next was Mike, and then finally El, and their speeches were fairly short but had a lot of meaning to them, and a lot of I love you's.
"Well, now that that cry fest is over." Bev spoke into her mic. " It's time for dinner!"
Throughout dinner, family and friends came by to congratulate them, and of course, meet the newest little Wheeler, which the couple were glad to let everyone put their attention on him for a few minutes.
"My my my, Ella, you've made such a beautiful child!" Grandpa exclaimed as he crouched carefully in front of the couple. El was holding Benny so that he was facing the visitors.
"Thanks, Grandpa." Mike deadpanned and Grandpa laughed, patting Mike on the knee.
"He looks like you did when you were a baby, Michael." he said.
"Look at all that hair!" Nana exclaimed, standing beside Grandpa and leaning down to look at Benny.
"He's beautiful, guys!" Aunt Adaline cooed. "The first boy in twenty two years. I still can't get over it."
"I was one hundred percent expecting a girl." Mike chuckled. "I wouldn't have cared, though. As long as he or she was healthy." El nodded in agreement.
"The next one will probably be a little El." Payton grinned over Nana's shoulder.
"I hope so." Mike grinned at El. She grinned back at him, and then looked at their cousin with a raised brow.
"It won't be anytime soon, I know that much. I've already got my little Mikey." she lifted Benny up to kiss his cheek and the girls awed. "He's enough for right now." she joked.
The rest of the family that were able to come to the wedding eventually met the month old baby for a few minutes and then went on their way, thankfully not overwhelming the new parents.
"I think little man has pooed himself." El said, lifting him up to sniff, and the scrunching up her face and holding him away from her a bit. "Yep, he did."
Mike laughed and held his hands out for Benny. "I'll go change him."
"Are you sure? He always pees on you." Mike gave her a deadpan look and she laughed.
"Yeah, I got him." he chuckled and El handed him over. Mike stood and held Benny up on his shoulder and held him with one arm and grabbed his diaper bag, throwing it over his shoulder. "I'll be back in a few minutes." El nodded and gave him a smile.
Dinner was pretty much finished by about seven thirty, and the cake was done by eight, due to Richie and Eddie needing time to clean themselves off after smashing it in each other's faces, of course.
"Now, I would like to welcome Mr. and Mr. Tozier-Kaspbrak to the floor for your first dance!" Bev announced as they came back in from the bathroom. The music to I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing began and the two laughed, walking to the middle of the dance floor as the song continued on.
"This is so weird to me." Richie said, as the two swayed together. Eddie looked up at him with raised eyebrows. "Being married, I mean. I have your last name now, too."
"And I have yours." Eddie grinned at him and Richie grinned back. Eddie tucked a strand of hair behind Richie's ear before they both began belting out together,
"Don't want to close my eyes, I don't want to fall asleep! 'Cause I'd miss you, babe. And I don't want to miss a thing!" Richie threw his head back as he sang at the top of his lungs. "'Cause even when I dream of you! The sweetest dream will never do! I'd still miss you, babe! And I don't want to miss a thing!" Edde laughed and pulled Richie down to kiss him. Richie kissed back and couldn't help but reach down and grab a handful of Eddie's ass, making the shorter man jerk his head back and smack his shoulder repeatedly while he laughed.
"You ass! That is not appropriate in front of our friends and family!" he scolded. Richie gave him a shit eating grin.
"So it is appropriate to do it when we're home? In private?" Richie wiggled his eyebrows for emphasis.
"Shut up."
