Hi, so, ummmm, it has been years since I've written anything. I might be really rusty. I did re-read through this fanfic and my first fanfic Where's Home Now? I noticed a loooot of typing errors. And one thing I should have changed but didn't.

That error was Crocus and Rayleighs ages. So I don't think it was noticed by anyone but I described them as their older selves. I forgot that one detail. I should have made them younger. But it's too late to change that now. I just hope the details I described doesn't give off that old-old vibe. And that it doesn't ruin anything for later chapters.

Okay! Enough Ranting! We should move onto this chapter!

Chapter Six

Layla's P.O.V

That night at dinner I was sitting next to Shanks as we ate, he was rambunctiously talking to other people sitting at the table too, I thought I saw the Clown-nosed guy at our table but he was hidden by a big man. I also couldn't understand much of what Shanks was talking about. Something about Marines and a battle for something called a devil fruit?

Shanks was interrupted by the main door of the room slamming open and silencing everyone.

It was Roger, he had Rayleigh right behind him.

The two started to walk into the room and didn't say anything as they walked to an empty table that had cushioned chair tucked into it. It was the only chair like that in this room, all the other seats in here were benches. Once Rodger and Rayleigh sat down someone who looked like a chef came and dropped a couple plates of food in front of them.

Everyone stayed quiet.

I heard someone clear their throat somewhere behind me.

Roger lifted his head from looking at his food, he had a fork full and was just about to take a bite, he kind of had a look on his face like he didn't notice everyone was here, or just that he was surprised at how quiet it was and he didn't notice until now.

"Oh," Roger started, "Right. I guess most of you want to know about the new guest we have aboard our Jolly Roger."

He stood up to ensure everyone could see him, clearing his throat, he continued, "Her name is Layla, she will be staying with us for the time being. We are going to help get her home because she is very, very far away from it. If anyone has any objections take it up with Rayleigh."

I could have sworn I saw a slight smirk on Rogers face as he sat down but his mustache masked it. Looking at Rayleigh I saw a small, barely noticeable scowl pointed at the captain.

It would have been funny, if the whole crew didn't turn their attention to me.

Someone a couple tables away spoke up, "Can we ask her some questions, Captian?"

Roger looked up again, this time he had a mouth full of food. He looked like a chipmunk who got caught with their cheeks full of peanuts. I watched as he swallowed it whole then responded, "Go ahead. But don't overwhelm the little lass."

Then most of the crew stood up to surround the table I was at. I coward a little closer to Shanks in an attempt to hide. It seemed like they all came to a silent agreement because one by one almost all of them slowly raised their hands. Nervously, I pointed to each of them and answered their questions, as I spoke more I got more comfortable with talking to them. They asked about my world, how I was raised, if pirates were real in my world, what my keys were for-that lead to explaining what magic was and a bunch of other random questions.

I didn't realize it had gotten so late until I saw some of the crew starting to yawn, which broke my confidence, "I'm sorry, I guess it is getting late..."

I got a whole bunch of replies, they all blended together so it was hard to understand what they were all saying. Finally, Rayleigh stood from his seat next to Rodger, "Okay, men. Take your plates and help the cooks clean up, then off to bed for most of you, for those who are assigned watch for the first half of tonight give your plates to someone and get to your posts."

Once he finished what he was saying everything went into motion, they all started to grab their plates and stuff and they all lined up with their dirty dishes leading into an attached room, which I assumed is the kitchen, as they walked out empty handed a couple of men started to stack the benches on top of each other by the walls, while others grabbed rags for the tables or brooms and mops for the floors.

I didn't know much of what was going on so I copied whatever Shanks was doing. I had followed him to give my dishes to some cooks at a big sink with a couple faucets, I saw some other cooks cleaning the counters and stoves and all the other appliances in the kitchen, I also followed Shanks in grabbing a mop and copied as he dunked it into a bucket of water, then rung it out and went to a part of the room that no ones gotten to and started to mop the floor alongside him.

I did get a couple of comments from many of the crew that I was a guest and didn't need to do anything but I didn't want to seem like I was mooching off of everyone or like I was an invalid. I was going to help pull my weight as much as I can while I'm here. Out of the corner of my eye I watched as Rodger left, he was discussing some things over some papers with some other crew members as he walked out of the room.

Once everything seemed to be clean, the crew put all the benches back and Rayleigh walked around checking everything, I watched as he looked at all of us and the room then nodded and with that everyone started to leave.

"C'mon," Shanks lightly tapped my arm with a small smile, "I'll show you back to your room."

I followed him across the deck and down below until we reached the room I had woken up to this morning. I was about to open the door when Shanks spoke up, "I can probably go look and ask around for any smaller clothes that can fit you better, the ones you have on right now were what I found in a hurry, so they are my old ones I don't fit very well anymore. I also left you an old pair of sleep clothes on top of a storage box. And tomorrow we can arrange to have the bathroom emptied out for you to shower and all that."

"Thank you." I reply earnestly, "I am great full that your crew seems to have excepted me staying here for now."

Shanks gives me a bright small but it got cut off by a yawn, "Anytime. Goodnight, Layla. I'll see you in the morning."

"Goodnight." I respond quietly.

Opening the door to the room I step inside and close it behind me. Looking around I find the clothes Shanks told me about and then change into them, walking to the bed I lift the blanket and curl up under it.

I must have been pretty exhausted because I fell asleep soon after getting comfortable.

Okay, I'm going to stop this chapter here. I'll try to get the next one up as soon as I can!
