1.

Before going home one day, Major Nelson stopped at a department store and made a purchase. Then he went home.

Jeannie greeted him with a hug and a kiss.

"I brought something special," he said.

"You did?"

He brought it out. "It's an instant camera!"

"I see."

"I was thinking, after dinner, I'd like to take photos of you—if you don't mind."

She grew sad. "Oh, no, Master! That is one wish I cannot grant you!"

"Why not?"

"Genies cannot be photographed. If you try to, our images will not show up in the photo."

"Nonsense! Please let me take photos of you."

She sighed. "If you wish, Master."

After dinner, he put film in the camera and began taking photos of her. He had her pose in various ways on the couch. In less than five minutes, the roll was finished.

2.

The next day, he left the film at a drug store to be developed. And a day later, he picked it up.

Jeannie was right; she wasn't in any of the photos; they looked like hw was just photographing the furniture.

"I told you, Master! I am sorry."

"Yes, you did, Jeannie. I'm sorry I didn't believe you."

She hugged and kissed him.

3.

Tony came home from work, the next day. He greeted Jeannie.

"Master, I have some wonderful news for you!"

"You do?"

"I went to the Genie's Council, today."

"You did?"

"Yes. And they told me there IS a way a genie can be photographed."

He grew excited. "How?"

"Water!"

"Water?"

"Yes, Master. When a genie is drenched with water, her image WILL appear on film."

"You won't mind getting wet?"

"Not at all, Master."

"That's wonderful, Jeannie!" They hugged.

After dinner, they went into the living room. He put film in the camera. She blinked, and a tub of water appeared. She then slipped her shoes off and got into the tub.

He began taking photos. She stayed in the tub, throughout. This time, he used two rolls of film.

When he finished, she got out of the tub and blinked herself dry.

4,

A few days later, Tony and Roger were looking through the photos. They were in Tony's office.

"That's a particularly good one," said Roger.

"Yes, it is."

"Oh, that one's nice! Say, would you mind if I have copies of these?"

"Let me check with Jeannie, first. If she doesn't mind, then sure."

"OK, thanks. She looks beautiful, dripping wet!"

"Yes, she does!"

"Photos! Can I see?"

Dr Bellows had just entered the room!

"Er. . . sure, go ahead."

He gave them to Dr Bellows.

"That's Jeannie, isn't it?"

"Yes, sir, it is."

"Why is she in a tub of water, with her clothes on?"

He laughed, nervously. "Well, eh. . . You see-"

"-They were being silly," said Roger.

"Oh, I see!" He continued looking through them, then gave them back to Tony. "Nice photos!"

"Thank you, Sir."

Dr Bellows left.
