Lullaby
It was night in the town of Santa Cecilia, and Miguel Rivera was asleep in his room, when he was awoken by noise. He slowly sat up, and rubbed his eyes, as he heard crying coming from another room.
Getting out of bed, he walked to the source of the noise. His baby sister, Socorro was crying, and his parents were trying to get her to go back to sleep. "Come on, mija, it's okay." said Luisa, bouncing the baby a little.
"Socorro, it's 1:00, por favor, go back to sleep." said Enrique. But Socorro kept crying. Then Miguel had an idea on how to get her to stop crying and go to sleep. Hurrying back to his room, he grabbed guitar and went back to the nursery.
Looking back inside, he saw his sister was still crying, and his parents were looking really tired. "Mama, Papa, I can put Socorro to sleep." he offered. "Do you really think you can?" asked Enrique.
"Si." Miguel answered. "Gracias, mijo, it'll be a big help." said Luisa, handing the baby to her son. "If you need help just call." she said, and the two left.
Socorro continued to cry. "Shh, it's okay." Said Miguel. He put her back in her crib, and he sat in a chair with his guitar. He began playing a familiar tune, which caused Socorro's crying to quiet down a little.
Then Miguel began singing a very special song.
"Remember me, though I have to say goodbye, remember me, don't let it make you cry."
Socorro's crying then stopped and she began cooing.
"For even if I'm far away I hold you in my heart, I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart."
Then Miguel began rocking the crib with his foot, and Socorro's eyes began dropping.
"Remember me, though I have to travel far, remember me. Each time you hear a sad guitar, know that I'm with you the only way I can be. Until you're in my arms again, remember me."
When he finished playing, he saw that his baby sister was fast asleep.
"Buenos noches, Socorro." Miguel whispered. He then gently kissed her forehead, and left the room.
