"Where is she?" Opie asked as he walked up to Jax just outside the clubhouse. Failing to get back in the house and find his keys, he'd been in the dirt when Happy arrived with his spare set from the clubhouse. "Did she see the body?"
"Yeah, for a split second," Jax breathed, his lips pursed around his cigarette. "She's more upset with you than with the fact there's a corpse in her car. Dude, why were you such a dick? You've been fucking around with her for months. You know my family's track record, and you know your own. Why'd you blow up at her like that?"
Opie shook his head, huffing out a puff of warm breath into the cool evening air. "Man, I didn't expect it. We just got back. We're dealing with all this shit with Hale." He crossed his arms over his chest. "I just wanted to come home and relax with my wife. I didn't mean to get that mad at her. She didn't plan for any of this either." He watched as Jax snuffed out his smoke, twisting the sole of his shoe into the pavement where the two met. "How mad is she?"
Jax smirked, clapping Opie's shoulder in brother-like fashion. "Oh, she's ready to kill you." He pulled him forward, walking with him into the clubhouse. "But, let's get this over with."
Opie looked up to see Clay, Gemma, and Delta gathered just inside the clubhouse. Clay stood in the corner with a beer in his hands while Gemma and Delta sat on the leather couch and chair. The moment he met eyes with Delta, he reached towards her. "Delta-"
"Save it." Delta held up her hand, silencing him. He frowned at her, halting in his spot. "Go ahead. Get mad again. I'm only carrying your child."
"I wasn't expecting it." Opie tried to defend himself through a frustrated sigh. It took everything in him not to grit his teeth together. His wife could be the most infuriating person on the planet despite his constant desire to be with her.
Delta scoffed. "I wasn't expecting to find a dead body in my car. You don't see me accusing you of having affairs or not wanting to be married to me anymore."
"Hey!" Clay barked at both of them. "You two have shit to sort out, but you've got time. We don't have much time before Delta starts showing and Hale comes to our fucking doorstep with intentions to take her. We can't find the asshole, and he's on our own damn property to dispose a body and plant a tracking device. Why haven't we found him?!"
Jax's jaw clenched, standing beside Gemma while shaking his head. "He knows us too well. Our patterns. Our way of dealing with problems. Now that the one person who was protect him is gone, he isn't going to parade himself around here like he has. And, he's the person who killed her."
Opie nodded. "He can't be far though. He wouldn't risk traveling far with a dead ATF agent in his car. If he's really clever about it, he would've brought her on foot." He scratched his chin through his beard. "But, there are two problems. How did he know the car was moved to the house, and how did he get inside the car without setting off the horn?"
Delta felt the tension in the room build on that, setting off warning signs everywhere. She wanted to throw up thinking one of their members, their family could turn her into someone like Hale after knowing what he did to her. The room was too small, the truth couldn't fit inside it. Not that she could pinpoint even if it was wrapped around her finger like her wedding ring. "Why did he come back now? He could've kidnapped me back when I was fifteen when he got that new job. He could've been back in the last three years at any point. Why does he come back now?"
"You're legal now." Gemma murmured, staring at her hands in her lap.
"Our family don't give a shit about what the law says." Clay countered with a shake of his head.
"But, Unser does." Jax blurted out, catching the eyes of each of them. "He would have the power to bring back Hale too."
Delta swallowed hard. "Did Unser know I was pregnant before?"
Gemma nodded her head, closing her eyes as if in agony. "He only found out when you were in the hospital. When Maverick died, that's when he found out." She shook her head. "No use telling someone they've got a dead kid back home." She looked over to Clay, seeing his jaw working. "He would also have the information about Daddy to give to Hale. We tell him everything, Clay."
"He's hiding out at Unser's." Opie stated, pushing off against the wall behind him. "That's the only place he could be. We wouldn't ever look for him there. Everybody else we trust lives here." He glanced between Clay and Jax. "We could go there now."
Delta shook her head. "He'll be guarded there, prepared for us. We need to catch him off guard." She ran her hand down her throat, trying to soothe her racing heart. "He wants to find me. Let him find me. I want to end this once and for all."
Jax leaned down on the counter, gazing at his sister as she nursed a glass of juice she had annoyingly accepted instead of liquor. He glanced up though when Opie walked in. "Are they on board with it?"
"Took some convincing, but they are more than happy with their end." Opie stated before meeting Delta's eyes. "We've got your back, baby. With everything." He leaned down and kissed her forehead, happy that she didn't push him away. He felt relief wash over him when she gave him a small smile. "I put the tracker back in the car. We should head out now to pick a spot to set this up though. I don't want to leave anything to chance."
"Yeah," Jax agreed, standing up and patting Opie's back. "I'll meet you two out there. I think there's a spot about ten miles out that would be good."
Delta nodded, silently thanking her brother before he left the room and gave her time alone with her husband. "This will end tomorrow, Ope. We don't have to worry about this again when everything is said and done."
"What about us?" Opie asked, brushing back her brown hair. "Where will we be after all is said in done?"
Delta peered up at him under her lashes, running her own hand through her hair. "That depends. I know where I stand, but you seem to be on a completely different page."
Opie moved his hands under her arms, lifting her from the barstool up onto the counter and stepping into her space. He rested his hands on her stomach. "You were right back at the house. I want you to have something outside the club. If you want to go in the fall or wait a year, I will be there with you every step of the way. I'll pull all nighters with you if that's what it takes." He smiled getting her to chuckle. He leaned up, pecking her lips. "As for the little troublemaker inside you, there's not a chance I wouldn't want him or her. I've got the next nine months with you all to myself, give or take how far along you are. I would've raised Maverick with you. I want nothing more than to raise a kid with you." He wrapped his arms around her waist, pressing his forehead to hers. "I want to be with you. No matter what the circumstances are, I've always wanted to be with you. That isn't going to change."
"Good," Delta smiled, kissing his eyelids, "I love you, Opie."
"I love you too." Opie grinned. He stood with her a moment longer before lifting her back up and setting her on her feet. "Now, let's go prepare for a murder."
