Hi! How's everybody handling quarantine and social distancing? I'm dealing better now, but I spent weeks isolated due to potential symptoms and away from my computer, and let me tell you, that was NOT fun. Fortunately, nothing too serious happened and I was eventually released by the doctor to the rest of the house after all the safety times had passed. Without being tested, of course, because they only test people who's sick enough to be admitted to a hospital.
But now I'm back!
For anyone who is interested, applications are open for the Romance Dawn Zine! You can find them at: romancedawn-zine dot tumblr dot com/post/616476382520868864/apps-period-extended
And now I leave you with some prison assault shenanigans. Enjoy!
The Freezing Hell, Part II
Whitebeard laughed, moving to lean against the wall next to Rayleigh now that the guards were thoroughly distracted by the kids.
"It's good to see them having fun," Rayleigh said. He snorted when Luffy catapulted himself between two guards and swept an entire group into the air on his way down. Ace roasted the group before Luffy could land another blow on them and they were off arguing while they tried to beat each other's count of defeated enemies.
Shit, Roger would've been so fucking proud of his kid.
Don't think about that.
"Do we get started?" Rayleigh asked.
He didn't bother to check their surroundings. They were far from the cell area, where there was little more than half-frozen trees to be seen as far as sight could reach.
"Any idea where the guard room might be?" Whitebeard asked distractedly, busy watching Marco run around the area as he kicked guards down.
Rayleigh shrugged.
"We could ask."
"Oh?"
Rayleigh gestured pointedly to a group of downed guards, one of which was merely feigning unconsciousness.
An amused smirk crossed Whitebeard's face, and he was off trudging towards that guard in a heartbeat. Rayleigh settled back against the wall and watched with some glee as the guard pissed himself when he realized exactly who had called his bluff.
A minute later Whitebeard was back and the guard had passed out for real this time.
"Shall we?" Rayleigh asked, and gestured for Whitebeard to lead the way.
Luffy streaked by, his arms stretching longer as he moved far from where his hands clung to a tree. He jumped and swept back in a circle, spiraling around the tree quickly and repeatedly, sweeping guards off the ground.
"Damn it, Luffy!" Ace yelled from where he had been forced to duck.
Luffy just laughed and landed on his feet next to where Jinbe was firing at whatever guards remained.
"Thirty four!" Luffy yelled, and laughed when the other kids groaned. He had clearly won this round.
Shaking his head with a grin, Whitebeard turned and began to lead the way. Rayleigh followed him, and shortly they had reached a wall. The door there was blocked by a contingent of trembling and terrified guards. They were so clearly scared that even their rifles shook.
Rayleigh didn't bother to wait for whatever statements they might dare make. He simply unleashed a small wave of haoshoku haki —he didn't want to affect any other enemies, or the kids would be pissed— and knocked them out.
Whitebeard obligingly removed the door from its hinges to reveal a control room holding merely four more guards.
They both grinned at the same time.
It was Rayleigh's turn to be threatening, though.
"Hello there. We have a few questions. Depending on your answers, you might survive the day."
