Hello my dears. I would like to thank heyjode, AshleighFenech, Bkworm4life4, Lynmurph3 (Guest), Beepmybanana, Sprig, Guest, Dief09, amywegner16, crossyuuki69 and Max and Fern 4ever for the amazing reviews. I would also like to thank those of you who have favoured and followed since my last update.

So yes I know I have been absent from this story for a very long time, and I don't think I will be updating as regularly as I would like for a while. I am trying to get my other stories finished so I have more time for this one. Plus life is crazy and keeps getting in the way, damn you, life. So anyway I can't grantee when the next update will come, but I hope you like this one. it has been half written on my computer for a while as I am still not 100% sure about it.

Disclaimer: I don't own NCIS: LA.

Callen and Deeks walked out of the back door of the bar, hand in hand, Monty keeping pace at their side. And while it may look to anyone watching them that this was their usual morning walk, it was anything but. Something that was emphasized by the woman waiting for them in the parking lot. Callen nodded as they approached before doing the introductions.

"Marty. This is Dr Jasmine Dale, Jas, Marty Deeks." he said in a pleasant voice, hoping to cut through the air of distrust and tension that surrounded them. Because however much he knew Marty had agreed to meet Jas, he also knew he hadn't agreed to let her help him, not yet. Marty didn't trust Jas, and well in truth Callen couldn't blame him. If the situation was reversed he wouldn't trust some Doc Marty recommended just because either.

"Hey Marty, and I guess this is Monty." Jasmine replied holding her hand out for the dog to sniff, but not trying to stroke him. She knew a trained dog when she saw one, and she knew she would have to get the trust of his human before she tried to do that.

"Yeah." Deeks responded not sure what else to say. I mean they lady seemed nice, and definitely had that put you at ease air he was used to with shrinks, but he still wasn't sure she was the person who could help him, even if G said she could. He knew his boyfriends impressions could well be clouded by his need to help him and the idea of having someone he knew around when he wasn't, so he wouldn't cave, just because Callen said she was good. He wanted to make sure for himself that she was the person he needed right then.

"So why don't we go for a walk on the beach?" Jasmine suggested smiling at the two men in front of her. She could read Marty perfectly well, and she knew he didn't trust her. But that was okay, expected even. But she would do her best to connive him. It was her job after all.

At her words Callen nodded, and as such they all turned towards the cove, Callen holding Marty's hand while Monty kept pace between the former detective and the shrink who had come to help him.

They walked in silence, Jasmine wanting Marty to relax in her company. Wanting him to understand that she knew and understood the need for silence. Understood that sometimes it was better not to talk, but to just feel. They made it all the way to the shadow of the cliffs on the other side of the cove before she finally broke the still rather tense silence. "Let's sit." She suggested, and though her tone was carefully friendly, there was an underlying hint in it that said that it was time for the silence to be over.

"Fine." Deeks agreed. He knew both Callen and the Doc expected him to do the talking now they were coming to the part where he would get a chance to get to know the woman Callen wanted to rummage around in his head.

"You know Marty, I got to give it to you. This place is amazing." Jasmine replied once they were all settled in the sand, though she took note of the fact that Marty still hadn't let go of Callen's hand.

"Yeah it is." Deeks answered, but did not elaborate. He really wasn't in the mood for small talk.

Something Jasmine realised with his three word reply. She needed something more, something that would give Marty a reason to trust her, and she could think of only one thing to say. It was something she had told many of her patients in the past to gain their trust, but this was different to all those situations. As such she started with different words than the ones she usually spoke.

"Tell me, Marty, did Callen tell you know we met?" She asked with a small smile on her lips, even as she noticed the agents head swing her way and his eyes narrow at her words.

"No." Deeks responded, but even though he only spoke one word Jasmine could see the intrigue in his eyes at her question. Yes. Something other than guarded indifference, that was good.

"I was a marine after I finished college. I specialised in languages and as such I was posted to a unit that worked with the local villages to gain intel on the insurgents. My job was to talk to the women. I was good at it. Up until the point that the village we visited was raided and I was taken. I was held and tortured on and off for five days before I was rescued. Not that I knew it was five days until afterwards. I didn't think I was ever going make it out of there alive, and then suddenly the marines were there. I had no idea how they found me, we had been tracking the camp for weeks and never received any actionable intel. It was then that I discovered that a covert operative in the area was the one who had tracked me down and relayed the coordinates at the risk of his own live and operation. It took me two years to find out that operatives name, and another one before I could thank him for saving my life. His response was to shrug and say he was in the area. That sound like anyone you know?" She asked casually purposefully not looking at the man she was talking about and instead watching the one he had asked her here to help.

"That was you?" Deeks asked turning to Callen with wide eyes. I mean sure he knew he had been a spy. Knew he had been in countries and situations that he could never imagine ever being in. But hearing about what he had done for the Doc at his side? That was something else. Hearing how he had saved someone from the victim's own lips, it was different to hearing the stories Kensi and Sam used to share about previous missions they had worked together. He didn't know why, but it was.

"Seemed like the right thing to do." Callen responded with a shrug. He had wished Jas hadn't told that story, but he could understand why she did it. It would get Marty to trust her when she said she understood. But it was also not a time he liked to think about. Because he remembered it well. Remembered gaining the intel that an American was being held by the enemy, and he remembered having to think about whether he could risk his op to get the information to the marines. He didn't hate himself for taking the time to think, even if he knew it delayed her rescue. He had come to terms with that part of his job a long time ago, but still he felt uncomfortable when she spoke about it like that. Felt that he didn't deserve her praise for his actions, because he had so nearly not done them. Had so nearly put the op first. Had come so close to letting the faceless American solider die so he could complete his mission.

"Callen saved my life, but more than that. He gave me a reason to carry on living when I returned. Searching for him gave me a purpose, a reason to not just accept what had happened to me, but learn how to come to terms with it. Finding him gave me a reason to learn the tools I needed to deal with what I had been through so I could complete my self-imposed mission. And once I found him, I decided to put what I learnt into helping others who have been through similar situations. So when I say I know what you are going through, I really mean it." Jas replied seeing Callen wasn't going to say anything more. But then she didn't expect him to. It had taken a long time but she had finally discovered what he had been doing in the area, and she knew what he had risked to the CIA by saving her. She could never tell him how grateful she was that he had done that.

"Okay, I get why you trust him. But why do you trust her?" Deeks asked, his eyes hadn't left G's face throughout all the Doc had said. Because sure saving someone's life, that was a trusting moment. But for G to trust her? She had to have done something in return, and it wasn't just because she was grateful. In fact he was pretty sure Callen would hate that part. He always seemed to slip away when they were dealing with the thanks from the victims of the cases they had taken when he was a member of the team.

"Jas has helped me through someā€¦ stuff." Callen replied. Because as much as he wanted to say that she owed him and that was why he knew she would help Marty, it wasn't the truth. He trusted her with his boyfriend, because he had first trusted her with himself.

"Okay. I'll give you a chance." Deeks responded hearing G's words. I mean how could he not when he realised that G Callen, the most private person he had ever met, trusted this woman to help him? I mean what better recommendation could she get?

At that Jasmine smiled. She knew she had helped Callen cope with different things in the past, but she knew, none of that even compared to what he had done for her. She would always be there for him, because he had saved her life, in more ways than one.

At that Deeks started to talk. His sentences were stilted as he tried to talk through what had happened to him without breaking down as he had all the previous times he had done this, but he finally managed to get them out. Get across the issues he was having, and throughout it all he never once let go of G's hand. Because he needed him there beside him. Needed him to help him through what he was once more reliving. Because Callen was the one person he trusted more than anyone else, and he knew he was the one person who would always be there for him. He needed him, needed the silent support he offered as he spoke of what he had been through.

He didn't go into as many details as he had with Callen when he had broken down, nor did he go into all the emotions he had felt during his capture. Just giving the facts as they were and discussing the surface emotions he had felt. It was all he could do then. All he could trust this woman with, even if she did have Callen's seal of approval. He would need more to give more. Would need to get to know who she was before he completely bared his soul to her.

And Jas sitting there listening knew there were things he wasn't telling her. Things he was bottling up, but she was fine with that. In fact she expected nothing else. But at least he was talking. Just listening to how he described what he had been through was educating to her. There was a vast difference to reading about an event and hearing about it from the person involved, and how they spoke about it told her more than anything else could. Listening to Marty she could hear what he wasn't saying, could sense the issues surrounding his former partner, but more than that. She could hear his guilt for what had happened to Sam while he couldn't help him. And she could hear a guilt about leaving the team, even if it was the best thing for him, it still seemed as if he subconsciously felt like he had let the team down.

And then there was his feelings for Callen. They came through loud and clear as he talked, not taking his hand away from the other mans. She couldn't help but wonder if the only reason they were together was because of what Marty had been through. Couldn't help but wonder if the feelings he thought he had for Callen were a way of dealing with the issues he was having with Kensi and what he had gone through.

Then there was Callen himself. All the time she had known him he had locked any emotional feelings for someone he worked with away. He never got close to anyone, especially not as close as he was with Marty. Was the reason for that due to his guilt at not being there for him? Or perhaps he thinks it should have been him rather than Marty that was tortured, after all Sam is his partner. But those were questions she would not be able to answer in this session, or any session with Marty. And with that thought Jas realised she would need to talk to Callen as well as Marty. Because as much as they seemed to care for each other, seemed to have true feelings that could turn into love, she didn't want them to be based on reasons other than their pure emotions for each other.

Oh yes there was a lot here for her to help them work through, but she was up to the challenge. It was her job, and what she truly felt she was meant to do. Helping Marty and Callen was her reason for doing what she did, and she was glad that the older man had trusted her enough to ask for her help. Because she would help them, she could do nothing less after all.
