Unknown Location (Night)
Sitting in a dark room filled with monitors and medical equipment sat a man who once had all of Japan in the palm of his hands manipulating its population through the shadows. A man who was there at the beginning when quirks had first manifested into the world. A man whose quirk allowed him to steal and distribute quirks at his leisure amassing a stockpile of quirks. A man who has lived for so long that his true name has been forgotten by many but still feared and respected by those who know of his existence.
A man whose arrogance of his own power coupled alongside a pity for his younger brother's sense of justice to stop him led to the creation of a quirk that would ultimately become his downfall.
A man who's power and future potential to surpass his limits had become stagnant due to his injuries from his fight with his ultimate antithesis All Might.
A man who had scoured all of Japan's population to search for quirks that could restore him to his former glory as well as to acquire quirks to not only empower his loyal followers but to create an army of powerful creatures.
A man who had given up hope to recover what he had lost, seeking to raise the child of a former enemy that would one day bring down not only All Might, but society's infatuation and blind reverence to its heroes.
A man who at this very moment had his ambitions reignited after learning of someone who had the power to free him from his shackles causing the burning passion within his soul to burn as intensely as it once did during the start of his reign.
"Izuku Midoriya" All for One had stated outwardly in a calm and collected tone while internally was feeling urges to acquire the boy's quirk by any means necessary.
All For One was receiving his usually medical treatments with the assistance of his faithful servant and scientist Daruma Ujiko while at the same time going over his plans, future projects, and ambitions for the League of Villains and his successor Tomura Shigaraki, when all of a sudden receives an emergency call from Kurogiri.
All For One was rather surprised by this as he knew the type of person Kurogiri was. Being one of his most trusted and loyal subordinates in his inner circle, Kurogiri knew more about All For One than most and would never contact All For One on his emergency line unless it was of the upmost importance.
All For One filled with a sense of intrigue for this unexpected interruption presses a button on the console in front of him as the main screen shows one of his most trusted subordinates on it.
"Kurogiri is something wrong, it is quite unlike you to contact me through my emergency line and not to mention during one of my treatments." All For One replied.
"A thousand apologies sir, but I would not have called you at this time if it was not a matter of grave importance." Kurogiri replied with a seriousness in his voice.
"Go on." All For One replied.
"I just got off the phone with Giran a few minutes ago, who offered information that he deemed to be beneficial to our cause." Kurogiri replied.
"And what exactly did this information entail?" All For One asked.
"Information involving the quirk of one Izuku Midoriya" Kurogiri replied.
The very mention of Midoriya's name had piqued the interest of not only All For One but also that of the scientist Daruma.
Izuku Midoriya was a name that All For One still had fresh in his mind despite the number of months that had passed since the boy's debut. The awakening of such an impressive fire quirk capable of generating an enormous amount of flames, as well as being able to dictate what those flames could and could not burn made him want to add Midoriya's quirk to his arsenal. Sure, there were other individuals possessing powerful fire or incendiary quirks that All For One had considered adding to his personal collection with Endeavor's own Hellfire quirk up for consideration. But deep down in his bones he knew that Midoriya's quirk was special, something that was truly unique in this world even by quirks standards.
All For One was absolutely ecstatic when he heard from his subordinate about the healing properties of Midoriya's Phoenix Flames and how they could heal those with life threatening injuries and regenerate lost limbs and organs. All For One had scoured Japan population for years in search of healing and regenerative quirks since his battle with All Might left his body in tatters. Unfortunately, healing quirks that could rectify the damage done to his body were virtually non-existent and All For One was unable to acquire the necessary regenerative quirks in time to regenerate the injuries that were inflicted upon him.
All For One was smiling manically as drool began to drip from the side of his mouth as he began craving the tender morsel that was Midoriya's quirk wanting it more than ever before, now that he knew what is was really capable of, and the name Phoenix Flames did nothing to alleviate the situation but rather intensified his hunger of acquiring the quirk worthy of the legendary creature's name.
All For One was not the only one ecstatic about what was said from Kurogiri's briefing as Daruma who was still in the room wanted nothing more than to strap the young green haired boy onto an operating table and dissect him for everything he's worth. Daruma believed that Midoriya's body could contain vital information toward his theory of quirk singularity. Daruma believed that quirks would become more and more powerful with each generation but in turn would cause a greater and greater strain on the body until it eventually reached a point where the body could no longer control it causing it to become unstable. When Daruma had first proposed the theory of quirk singularity no one took him seriously except for his master All For One.
What he saw the video of Midoriya awakening to his quirk he was speechless at the sight of those flames that it caused him to rethink parts of his own theory believing Midoriya's quirk to hold secrets that he deemed vital to his research.
Most children would obtain their quirks by the time they were four usually manifesting in a weaken state to allow the body to become accustomed to his or her quirk. Then if the individual would train and hone their quirk over a period of time, the quirk in turn would become more powerful as well as develop new applications or properties that could be utilized. However, if the quirk in question was exerted passed its normal thresholds two possibilities tended to occur.
The first and commonly known side effect of exerting a quirk passed its normal limits was quirk exhaustion, similar to that of a car engine overheating without being given a chance to stop or cool down the quirk would begin to damage the user's body affecting their overall health and well-being until they collapsed from exhaustion. Often times the person would recovery over time but would still have some scars or physical damage that would build up over time, but in worst cases scenarios this could result in a person's quirk factor being damaged beyond repair or even result in the death of the quirk's user.
The second possibility of exerting a quirk past its normal limits was quirk awakening, where under the right conditions can trigger a dramatic change in a person's quirk causing it to evolve beyond what it was originally capable of. In his research Daruma discovered that the conditions involving a quirk awakening tended to happen during moments of mass stress, where the most instances of quirk awakening happened during life-or-death situations.
From what he understood of the situation Midoriya seemed to have experienced the latter. The boy who went in trying to save his fellow classmate when the other heroes dared not approach. His rescue attempt ended in failure as the villain assimilated Midoriya into his body slowly suffocating the boy as the light began to fade from his eyes looking at the camera with an expression of loss and hopelessness. A look he knew all too well from his time on experimenting on patients as he saw the look in the boy's eyes and limited movements telling him that he was on death's door.
But, then a miracle, the boy had awoken with new vigor in his eyes that was soon followed by his body illuminating the surroundings in a bright golden light followed by a torrent of flames accompanied by the burning screams of the villain who did not even finish his sentence.
Daruma scientific mind couldn't process this scenario playing out in real life given the circumstances even though he was seeing it with his own eyes.
Even if Midoriya did possess a quirk beforehand and then experienced a quirk awakening in the thralls of death the result would not be the massive wildfire worth of golden flames on the scale that he had seen. Kids his age who did develop quirks would most likely train their quirks to a certain extent in their feeble attempts to become licensed heroes, but due to Japan's quirk restriction laws where and how they could train their quirks were very limited. And even if a child did manage to climb atop the mountain of bodies to secure a place in a top ranked hero school, they would still need years of training, combat, and experience to even reach something even remotely similar to the power Midoriya's quirk had released that day.
To explain this from a mathematical perspective if experiencing a quirk awakening increased a person's power ten-fold with individual A having a quirk power level of 1000 while individual B has a quirk power level of 2000 the disparity between them would only increase significantly after the power boost.
The numbers just didn't add up in Midoriya's case and the science along with Daruma's knowledge in the field of quirks just couldn't explain it. In his mind everything could be explained with science and there had to be something that someone had missed or glossed over.
Looking for answers Daruma using his credentials in the medical field went to look up all of Midoriya's medical records that he was able to get his hands on making sure to cover his tracks to verify for any inconsistencies and was stunned at what he discovered in the documents he acquired. On one of the documents dated almost ten years ago was of Midoriya's medical and quirk evaluation form that had a signature of the doctor who performed the medical evaluation.
It was his signature; he was the one who had diagnosed Izuku Midoriya as quirkless.
Astonished at this realization Daruma began to comb through his computer's data storage of videos of his interactions with patients that he secretly recorded until he found the video of his interaction with the boy dated nearly ten years ago. He watched the entire length of the interaction going through the documentation he gathered while the video went on until he reached the end.
Daruma's public persona was that of a man who was the founder and CEO of the Jakku General Hospital who upheld the idea of "quirk-based community healthcare" who through his philanthropic works had set up orphanages and nursing homes, as well as partnering up with several private clinics. But in actuality this was nothing more than a cover Daruma utilized to not only gather and replicate quirks from unsuspecting victims but to also provided him with the necessary specimens to transform into Nomus.
It was also through his method of partnering up with private clinics that resulted in the events of his medical evaluation of Midoriya. Although at the time he had gone to perform the procedure under the guise of man simple known as .
He had diagnosed Midoriya as quirkless that very day. He had tested for Midoriya's quirk factor only for the results to show that his quirk factor could not be found. He performed an X-ray of the boy's feet showing that he possessed the additional toe joint that most experts in the field of quirks determined that those who possessed the additional toe joint were almost always quirkless. Even after performing some additional tests the results ending up stating that the boy was quirkless.
Daruma at the time had simple wrote off Izuku as quirkless and a complete waste of his time and energy that could have gone to working on his experiments.
But looking at it now he wondered how it was possible for Izuku Midoriya to have develop a quirk ten years after he himself had said that there was no chance of him developing a quirk and the fact that his master All For One had specifically stated that he had not given Midoriya a quirk at any point in his life left him at a dead end.
Having found no clear answer for this predicament in a fit of frustration, he yelled out to himself "What secrets is your body hiding from me my little green child!" quickly coming into a state of shock when he realized something in his statement that sparked a moment of clarity.
"His body … his body … could that have been the factor that I was glossing over" Daruma stated while pondering through his mind on the scientific possibilities of this new realization.
Perhaps Midoriya did have some sort of hidden quirk that went undetected resulting in his own body failing to even realize that it had a quirk in the first place and instead went into a state of dormancy. What if the quirk not yet able to come out on its own instead began to gradual refine the body without the body itself noticing where over a long period of time would strengthen and reinforce the vessel to accommodate for the immense power it would one day receive . At the same time causing the quirk to enter a sort of incubative state becoming more and more powerful until it eventually reached a critical point requiring a catalyst to become fully integrated with the vessel. The catalyst in this case being the physical and mental trauma brought about from a near death experience caused during the sludge villain incident.
If this theory held weight, then Midoriya's body could perhaps contain the secret to stabilizing quirks within a person's body while at the same time preventing the disastrous fate that would befall upon the world when quirk singularity came in full swing.
But more importantly if he could take the knowledge contained within Midoriya's body and apply it to his creations, he could potentially create the ultimate being. A being that could contain as many quirks as possible without any repercussions.
And now standing in the room alongside his master hearing Kurogiri give a detailed explanation of the boy's quirk gave this theory even more sustenance. The healing and regenerative properties of the boy's Phoenix Flames quirk could perhaps indeed allow for the internal refinement and improvement of his body in order to accommodate for the quirk's immense power.
A dark smile formed on his face accompanied by a hungry expression as droll slid from his lips in a similar fashion that his master had shown. He thought to himself "Phoenix Flames. What an appropriate name for such a rare and powerful quirk. A quirk that once extracted and replicated will allow me to perfect and evolve my creations by leaps and bounds."
Daruma thoughts were interrupted when All For One had begun to speak filling the room with his dark intent.
"Once Izuku Midoriya's Phoenix Flames quirk is in my possession I will be freed from this eternal torment and heal my body back to its rightful power and status restoring my rule over Japan through the in the shadows once more." All For One said raising his fist in front of him with a sense of renewed purpose following through him. "Then All Might will suffer for what he …" All For One had stated but had cut himself off before finishing his sentence.
"All Might" All For One said trading his ravenous expression for that of a dissatisfied one when he quickly realized something. "All Might" he said once more in a softer tone.
"Master is everything all right" Daruma said when he saw something was wrong with All For One's tone of voice slowly backing away in case a fit of unbridled rage followed suit.
"All Might" All For One stated again with his bloodlust permeating from his body as Daruma stood there immobilized from terror when he himself realized why his master was in such a foul mood.
"All Might has been healed from the injuries I inflicted upon him all those years ago thanks to that boy's quirk!" All For One furiously said as he raised a fist high into the air and smashed a tray of medical equipment beside him embedding it deep into the floor.
All For One sat there brooding as he thought to himself of all his future plans and long-term goals being complete smashed thanks to All Might's recovery. He sat there thinking to himself of how this would impede Shigaraki's progress and development, not to mention of how Shigaraki's plan to attack U.A. would only result in utter failure thanks to All Might no longer being in a weaken state.
However, being the calm and charismatic individual that he was All For One quickly simmered down returning to an calm state of mind as the bloodlust permeating the room began to recede into his body with his servant Daruma collapsing to his knees breathing heavily.
Taking some time to collect himself along with giving Daruma a chance to get up off the floor still slightly shaken All For One placed his elbow on his chair with his fist supporting his head as he spoke "This will most certain delay my plans for longer than I originally expected. Taking the direct approach would be too risky in my current state especially if All Might has indeed made a complete recovery. The Nomu we had prepared to face off against All Might during Tomura's raid of U.A. stands no chance against him now, and the High-End Nomu still need more time to develop and even then, there's no guarantee that they would do much better."
All For One in the middle of his self-reflection was interrupted when he and Daruma suddenly hear a series of sarcastic claps coming from the obscure hallway connecting the room in which they current reside. Both of them raising their guard turn to face the dark filled hallway whose shadows seem to be in a constant state of flux as a mysterious figure emerges from the darkness revealing himself to them as he ceases his sarcastic clapping.
The mysterious figure is revealed to be a tall blond-haired man in a dark gray trench coat and a silver eye mask whose most notable features are the black and white checkered patterns incorporating some of his clothing and the captivating iron hat.
Before either All For One and Daruma can respond the man in the iron hat moves his left arm behind his back pulling out a cane with an alluring bright blue jewel on its handle from seemingly nowhere before placing the cane on the floor beside him facing All For One with a sly grin.
Hey, everyone I'm back to present you all with another chapter for Phoenix Hero Reborn.
When thinking of characters from the world of Katekyo Hitman Reborn to introduce to this story I thought why not add the man behind the creation of all the Arcobaleno, watching everything from afar to be the one to deal with the main antagonist of the My Hero Academia series All For One. Kawahira or as he is currently being introduced right now as Checker Face has plans for All For One and spoiler alert he is not trying to create the Arcobaleno again. Just putting that out there.
In case you're wondering why it's been so long since I have produced another chapter is because of a mixture of my frustration of trying to figure out how to proceed with the story, requiring more information for characters, settings, and backgrounds by waiting for more chapters of My Hero Academia to be released, going through the anime and manga of Katekyo Hitman Reborn and just feeling burnt out. I have created and scraped dozens of scenarios of how I wanted this story to proceed which may or may not be scrapped somewhere down the line. I also have this urge to try and make sure that everything is perfect, and it feels exhausting.
But I want you all to know that I am thankful for the support you have shown for this story, from following and favoriting this story to the comments you make for each chapter is what inspires me to try and produce more chapters.
Don't forget to comment, follow, and favorite this story if you like it, and please don't forget to go and read and comment on "Renew" on Archive of Your Own as much of my inspiration to writing this comes from this, as like many of you with this fic hope to see more chapters be released. Thank you for all of your support.
