Chapter 2

*Rays POV*

I don't know how long I've been here. It's seemed like hours since that nerve-wrecking moment of me seeing her bloodied and broken. What mattered now though was her waking up, and I was hopeful that she would soon. I will wait here until she does, I am determined to see her through the whole healing process now, whether she likes it or slow beeping of the machines pull me out of my trance, and I finally get a good look at her laying in the bed. In this moment she doesn't look like the rebel that would argue with anyone over anything she didn't agree with, she just looked like a normal teen. I wonder what she will think of me being here once she wakes up. It worries me. I am going to work hard to prove her I can be more than just some jock asshole that insults her everytime we see each other. That Ray is gone. Stuck in my thoughts once again I am pulled out of them by the door opening suddenly. In rush the Lemon Heads finally-which I am probably gonna have to stop calling them but thats besides the point right now. They were finally here. Olivia White, Wen Gifford. Mo Banjaree, Charlie Delgado, and my long lost best friend, Scott Pickett. I guess at some point I forgot about him, and didn't even think to text him on the ambulance ride over. I was still trying to get over the fact that he chose to leave our band. I guess that will be a part of my redemption plan as well, make amends with Scott, and stop acting like a child when they all come around me.

Stellas friends were quick to bombard me with questions and ask me things like "What are you doing here?" "What do you want?" "WHY are you here?" It kinda hurt but I shook it off and just answered the questions they were throwing at me with ease/

"I can answer all your questions, maybe, but one at a time please." I addressed the concerned bandmates.

"What happened? Why did no one call us?" Mo asked.

"I don't know if you noticed Banjaree, but we're not the closest friends. Where did you get the information from anyways."

"Patty." They all chimed in at once. I could feel my face heat up with anger. I will address her later when Stella starts to get better.

"Okay. So I was on my way to class when I saw a bunch of commotion and heard sirens and saw a big crowd. My body took over before I could react and I ran over and saw Stella all beaten up and hurt. They say she had the right of way but someone was texting and not paying attention and didn't stop in time. She hit Stella and kept going. They did find her a little ways down the street though from what I heard in the ambulance."

"They let you ride in the ambulance?" Charlie asked. I could tell he wasn't fond of me, which I didn't blame him for. I've been a jerk to them for a long time.

"I was the only one there. I figured if she woke up, she wouldn't want to be alone."

"Well you're not wrong about that. She's not fond of hospitals." Olivia told me.

"Look. I am not here for any drama or anything of that nature. She needed someone, and I decided to be the one to help her. Be mad at me for being here, but I was just trying to do the right thing for once in my life."

"Ray, dude theres no way we could be mad at you. It's okay, you did do the right thing man. Her parents are on the way too. Apparently your mom got a hold of them somehow?" Scott finally spoke to me.

"Thanks man. Yes my mother is apparently friends with Stella's parents, which I was unaware of. Hopefully they show up soon."

Right after I said that, the doors swung open again and it was a whole new set of commotion, because finally the Yamada parents had entered the room.

"My baby! How could this have happened to her?!" Her mother cried, I was unsure of the names of her parents, we had obviously never met, ever.

"You. Ray, right?" The man addressed me.

"Uh..yes sir?"

"Thank you." He came over with his hand outstretched as if to give me a handshake, but grabbed me and pulled me into a hug. "Thank you for being here for her."

" I-uh, it's no problem at all."

Her mother was currently fussing over Stella, making sure her pillows were fluffed and making sure she was as comfortable as could be. I went over and sat back down in my corner of the room, kind of away from everyone else, as to not disturb anyone and just sat in silence as everyone fussed over Stella, stopping when the doctors and nurses came in to check on her. Still no signs of her waking up, but they said she was improving, so there was that. As the day went off, people started to slowly leave. Her parents were the last ones there at the end of they day. They were hesitant to leave, but tomorrow was Saturday, so I offered to spend the night in case anything happened overnight or in the morning. I had texted my mom to bring me some clothes and other things, because I was planning on staying over the weekend too if she needed it. Her parents finally left and I finally talked them into it, ensuring she was definitely in good hands between myself and the doctors. I moved over the one of the couches close to her bed and slowly drifted off to sleep, hoping that she didn;t wake up as soon as I finally got some rest.
