Hey ya'll! Hope you're doing well. I reread the previous chapters and inspiration struck, I'm really liking this modern AU I started some time ago. I've got somewhat of a plot, but mostly it just explores the sister's relationship and my OTP. KRISTANNA for life!

"Anna! Could you get the door? I just wanna check on my brownies."

"Yeah, sure!" The redhead bookmarked the page in the book she had been reading and got up from the couch. "It's probably Elsa, anyway."

Anna half skipped half walked to the door and peeped through the peephole. Yeap, that's Elsa alright. She stood before their door holding a plastic bag at her side. Probably the Chinese she had wanted to get them. Anna grinned suddenly, an urge forming that she just could not deny. Elsa glanced down the hall.

"Anna, what are you –?" Rapunzel was cut off by a frantic wave of her roommate's arm. Anna didn't move away from looking through the peephole. Rapunzel lifted an eyebrow as Anna practically vibrated with potential energy, like a Jack-in-the-box ready to pop.

Anna's grin grew as she watched Elsa shift her weight from foot to foot. Wouldn't be long now. Elsa glanced down the hall again and raised her hand to knock.

Before her hand could connect with the wood, Anna yanked the door open and lunged forward, "WAH!"

Elsa let out a shrill shriek, and jumped, literally jumped into the air. The shock in her sister's face was enough to double Anna over in side splitting laughter.

"Anna!" the eldest swatted at her hysterical sister, heart in her throat. She shoved her sister inside before closing the door behind her. "You almost gave me a heart attack!"

Anna couldn't respond, her stomach cramped with mirth. She took a deep breath and looked at Elsa, tears in her eyes. And then promptly burst out in laughter again, "You should've – should've seen your face!"

Elsa scoffed, her heart still racing and made her way to a giggling Rapunzel who stood in the kitchen, watching. At east she had the decency to hide her laughter behind her hand. Elsa smiled as her heart settled back into its proper place again. She placed the plastic bags on the counter.

"Hello Rapunzel," Elsa greeted, pointedly ignoring her sister's titters behind her, "How're you doing?"

"Made some brownies, so it's going great" Rapunzel smirked.

"Oh, yum!" Elsa looked at the slightly steaming brownies that were placed on top of the stove to cool.

"How're you?"

"Oh, you know. Doing as well as I can with a constant pain in my neck," Elsa shot her giggling sister a glance, before turning back to smile at the blonde.

"I know exactly what you mean. Maybe you should have it checked out?"

"No need. If I ignore it, it usually goes away."

Rapunzel retrieved two plate and a bowl from the cupboard as Elsa took the containers with Chinese food out one by one. Anna, still giggling, made her way over to her sister and hugged her from behind, cheek against her back.

"I'm –" a wayward giggle interrupted, "I'm sorry. I just had to."

"That pain in my neck is back. Maybe I should have it check out…"

"Oh, come on!" Anna stepped away and threw her hands in the air, still grinning, "It was a joke!"

"It's okay. I'll just have to get you back, you know? Make things even Steven again."

Rapunzel giggled when Anna's grin fell from her face faster than you could say, "Oh crap".

The young artist had heard of the prank war that has been going on between the sisters for a while now. Anna once came back from visiting her sister like she normally did. But, when Anna had finished her shower a blood curling scream had sounded. Anna had appeared from the bathroom, wrapped in a towel and dripping wet. Almost her whole face, parts of her chest and shoulders where the brightest shade of blue Rapunzel had ever seen. Even her hair had been blue! It honestly looked like a Smurf had exploded in her face. Turns out it had been a type of disappearing ink that only showed itself when water came into contact with it. Elsa had "accidentally" spilled something on her that day, but Anna hadn't thought twice about it because her sister's shock had been so genuine. The ink only disappeared later that night after Anna had been assured by a laughing Elsa that it wasn't permanent or lethal.

Rapunzel still had the pictures she took of that night and of course had sent them to Elsa, too.

Elsa smirked, handing Rapunzel her food container, "Pork Wontons with Hazelnut Soup," she said and turned to face her sister holding a plate out to her, "and Chicken Chow Mein with sweet chilli sauce for you."

Anna grimaced. Elsa had the most nonchalant facial expression ever, but she knew the cogs were turning inside her head. Anna was already dreading what Elsa would do to get her back, but took the plate of food from her. She still had time to prepare, and maybe she could plan something too? It was no use. As Anna watched her sister saunter away with her own plate of food, she knew whatever Elsa had in store for her would be big. Very big.

Rapunzel giggled coming up beside her roommate, "You kinda asked for that."

"No, I didn't!" Anna said following Rapunzel to the sitting room where Elsa had gone. "I was impulsive!"

Elsa shrugged from her seat on the fluffy grey carpet before the low wooden coffee table. Having been here quite a few times before, Elsa had grown comfortable enough to let her guard down. It made Anna smile. They always ate at the coffee table, because they didn't have a proper dining room table but it was fun to sit on the carpet and chat.

Elsa still wore that pesky smirk on her face, "You'll just have to deal with the consequences of your actions, little sister."

Rapunzel and Anna joined her; the latter grabbed a cushion off the nearest couch to sit on. The redhead was really unnerved by the glint she could see in her sister's eye. Yeap, she'll definitely have to be on her guard for the rest of the month, at least. Elsa giggled, and broke her chop sticks apart before rubbing them against each other.

Anna looked down at her sister's plate and grimaced, "Ew…how could you eat that stuff?"

Elsa expertly positioned the chop sticks in her hand and picked up a California roll, "Like this," she popped it into her mouth and hummed.

"It's really good, "Rapunzel piped up next to Anna, "you should try it."

Anna pulled a face and stabbed her fork into her noodles, "I'm good thanks."

The three friends ate in companionable silence for a while. Mmm's of delight drifted around them every once and a while. Elsa picked up another piece of sushi and dipped it into her soy sauce.

"So," Rapunzel said when her bowl was almost done, "I was thinking we could plan the reception layout and stuff tonight. How's that sound?"

Anna hummed, her mouth too full to speak as Elsa nodded.

"Great, cuz I've got a few ideas but need some help fleshing them out."

Rapunzel shot up from her seat and ran to her room, leaving the two sister's behind in her wake. They continued eating, like nothing had happened.

"Nice weather," Anna commented idly.

Elsa giggled in response. Rapunzel returned just as she wanted to make a quip, but she got distracted. Rapunzel had placed her sketchbook on the table as she settled back into her seat.

Elsa took it, flipping through the pages slowly. She knew Rapunzel was a good artist, but she was always full of awe when she saw her sketches. Elsa could draw too, but her sketched were more controlled, precise. Her sketched had to be. She was an architect, after all. Rapunzel's sketches were more like illustrations, caught between reality and the freedom fantasy could give. So…. expressive.

She paged past some sketches of Rapunzel in various wedding dresses, some with different table decorating ideas, and cake designs too.

"Wow…" Elsa breathed, lingering at a random sketch of who she assumed was Rapunzel's fiancé. "Is this him?"

"Oh yeah, you haven't met yet… That's him." Rapunzel seemed to melt next to Anna. The redhead rolled her eyes. Eugene was handsome but definitely not her type.

"Hmm…he's kindof cute."

Anna nearly choked on her food. Had Elsa really just said that? The redhead tried not to, but she coughed and was forced to take a swig of her water.

"What?" Elsa asked innocently.

"You think he's cute?"

Elsa shrugged, "Sure."

"Huh, that's a first."

The eldest just smiled shyly and turned the page.

"Well he is cute." Rapunzel said and sighed dreamily.

"Course you think he is Rapz," Anna gestured to her sister, "but have you ever heard Elsa say someone is cute?"

"It's just cuz your type is big burly blonds, lately." Rapunzel quipped.

Elsa looked up in time to see a slight blush creep into her sister's face.

"N-no. It's not like that." Anna knew she didn't sound convincing, especially when Rapunzel's smile turned into a smirk

"Didn't you visit him today?" Rapunzel asked.

"Yeah…but it was super chilled."

Rapunzel just looked at her with a knowing smile, waiting for her to continue. Anna glanced at her sister and licked her lips.

"We just hung out…he showed me this little reindeer he saved from a trap. He was so cute – not him, I'm talking about the baby reindeer – his name is Sven. And his dog is huge too. His name is Ryder – after Eugene's ego he said. I didn't know they were friends. He said he named his dog Ryder because it's so big, wait I already said that – heh – yeah, he has a way with animals. I swear if he could he'd have his whole house filled with stray animals. He's really committed to them and a good person. And…yeah."

Anna shoved the last of her food into her mouth to stop herself from rambling. Rapunzel was giggling beside her, Anna felt like she had just proven the opposite of what she intended to prove. Kristoff really was nice, and she had to admit that he was very handsome. She couldn't admit that to her sister and roommate though, they'd have a field day. Elsa smiled at her and turned the page to where Rapunzel had started playing around with reception layout ideas.

"Which one do you like the most?" Elsa asked, placing the book on the table before Anna and Rapunzel.

Anna glanced at her sister, grateful for the change in subject. It's not that Anna didn't think about Kristoff that way. She didn't want to though. Or did she? It was because some part of her thought of him that way that she had to stop herself from thinking about him that way… Anna frowned. It didn't really make sense. But in some way, it did? She didn't know for sure. It's just that she had broken up with Hans like…three weeks ago. It was too soon to think of being in another relationship.

Luckily Kristoff was the easy-going type. He had said he wanted to take her out on a real date, back when they met the first time, but he hasn't asked her yet. She kinda hoped he would wait a bit longer. Or maybe forget about it completely…? Anna needed to find her feet first before she'd even consider being in a relationship with him. She needed to be able to stand without depending on someone for once. Besides, she wants to get to know him first, be his friend before anything else happened. That's to say if she wanted anything to happen. Her disaster of a relationship with Hans made her, if she were honest with herself, somewhat cynical.

"What do you think, Anna?"

"Hmm?" Anna looked up, having been staring at the sketchbook blankly as her sister and roommate had talked. "What was that?"

Rapunzel smirked and wanted to say something, probably tease her about daydreaming, but Elsa was faster. Thank the gods that Elsa was here. Rapunzel would've teased her relentlessly. She'd have to talk to her friend about that…Anna suppressed a grimace at the thought.

"We asked if having the reception in the forest would be a good idea or not," Elsa asked in her gentle way.

"Oh, uh, yeah, that sounds nice. Do you have a place in mind?"

"Eugene and I went for a walk the other day and came across a clearing close to the city that would work perfectly." She said, getting excited, "well, it's sort of a clearing. It's still in the forest but less dense. So, the trees would still cover the area but be open enough for a lot of tables. And its close enough that it won't be hard to get everything there."

"I thought you were going to have the reception at the chapel?" Anna asked, "To save money?"

Rapunzel rubbed a hand through her short brown hair, she was probably regretting having it cut so short by now. "Yeah…but dad called the other day. He said that there was more money available – but I don't want to push it. I still want to be smart about everything. Eugene and I would rather go to Europe for our honeymoon than have a big wedding."

Anna nodded, thinking. The forest was beautiful. And seeing as the wedding will take place in spring, it would be warm enough for people to be out there and enjoy it too. It sounded like it would be the perfect place.

"I think it's a good idea," she said with a nod of approval.

"Great!" Rapunzel pulled her sketchbook closer, "I was thinking of using this seating arrangement."

The three friends lapsed into conversation; throwing ideas around. Their food was finished long ago, the plates were placed out of the way so that they could talk about the plans in the sketchbook and add to them.

After a while Elsa suggested making tea, and Rapunzel jumped at the opportunity to have coffee. Anna asked for some hot chocolate as Elsa stood. The blonde winked at her sister, gathered up the plates and made her way to the kitchen.

Anna bit her lip. Now was the perfect time to talk to Rapunzel about how she felt. But she hated, hated, hated confrontation. She had been roommates with Rapunzel for a year now, and they'd been friends long before that too. Anna knew that Rapunzel was the most reasonable and kind person she's ever met. And still she hesitated, staring at the patterns in the wooden coffee table instead.

"Hey, Anna? You okay?"

Anna looked up into concerned green eyes. Drat. She had forgotten that Rapunzel could read her so easily. Even Elsa had started reading her expressions like an open book. She cursed her inability to hide her feelings and took a deep breath, "I, uh, I wanted to talk to you about something…"

Rapunzel became serious immediately. She sat straighter, but placed her hand over Anna's gently, urging her on.

"I…I know you mean well and everything…but. I –" she sighed, frowning. Rapunzel waited patiently. Anna could hear the mugs clink in the kitchen, the kettle being turned on. "The thing with Kristoff… I…I don't really want to think about him that way you know? Not yet anyway," the dam broke, "I mean, I just broke up with Hans the other day and you know how that went and I just want to be able to enjoy being single for a while, you know? I know you're happy with Eugene and everything, and it's super exciting, don't get me wrong, but…yeah." Rapunzel squeezed her hand gently, causing her to stop rambling. Anna kept her eyes fixed on the hand in her lap as her roommate shifted in her seat next to her.

"I'm sorry."

Anna looked up into sympathetic green eyes

"You're right. I was just trying to have some fun –"

"I know you were! And that's okay –"

"Anna," Rapunzel cut her off before she could ramble again, "I know that Hans really hurt you. And I know how difficult it is for you to speak about how you feel because of that, so thank you for telling me this. Is that why Elsa changed the subject so quickly?"

"Could be…I did tell her I didn't want people to assume anything."

Rapunzel smiled at her friend sadly, reading the guilt in her hunched shoulders. Hans really had broken her…confrontation, no matter how small, always made Anna feel like she was the one who was wrong. Probably because Hans always twisted it around like that.

"And I'm not mad at you for telling me this," she said, "I'm glad you did. I forget sometimes that all relationships are different. I won't mention it again until you decide to, okay?"

"Thanks," Anna sighed, relieved, "for making it easy to speak to you."

Rapunzel squeezed her hand once more before letting go to pull her sketchbook closer.

"I am glad you finally broke it off with that jerk. I'd like to ask you one thing though…"

"Yeah?"

"Don't think that all relationships will be a different version of yours with Hans."

Anna bit her lip. It was uncanny how well her friend knew her. Sometimes she thought Rapunzel could read her mind or something.

"Yeah…okay."

"Good," Rapunzel grinned suddenly, "I think some chocolate is in order, don't you?"

"Hey Elsa!" Anna called, turning in her seat to look behind her.

Elsa's braided head popped out from the kitchen, "Yeah?"

"Could you bring my stash in the top right-hand cupboard with you when you come back?"

Elsa disappeared into the kitchen. Anna heard the cupboard door creak open, "Oh my soul, yes of course I will! All of it?"

"Between the two of you," Rapunzel called, "you could finish that in one sitting. Please bring all of it so that I can at least have one piece of chocolate before it all disappears! Oh! And my brownies!"

Elsa's giggle drifted into the sitting room causing Anna to smile. Soon after Elsa walked over with a tray that had three steaming mugs,a plate of brownies and a whole pile of different types of chocolate. She placed the tray on the table and Anna immediately lunged for her favourite chocolate. A slab of milk chocolate that had pop rocks imbedded inside it.

"Whoa…easy there." Rapunzel laughed at Anna's wild expression.

"I needed to claim this before Elsa did."

Elsa pursed her lips and took a seat with a regal air that befit a queen, "It's fine. I'll just eat the dark chocolate."

Anna pursed her lips too, mimicking her sister's expression, "Go for it."

Rapunzel watched the two stare each other down and reached for a chocolate brownie slowly. Elsa raised her eyebrow in challenge, and Anna felt her resolve weaken.

"Ah! Fine! Here, take it."

Anna opened the slab and broke six pieces off, handing them to her very smug sister.

"Thank you," she said nodding her head in thanks.

"You're such a drama Queen." Anna rolled her eyes.

"Says the biggest drama Queen of the age, "Rapunzel snorted, taking a bite of her brownie.

Anna shot her a glare and sat up straight with a haughty nose in the air, "Am not."

Elsa giggled which set Rapunzel off which in turn made Anna break character. She grinned and popped a piece of the chocolate in her mouth at the same time Elsa did.

They both hummed, completely content, closing their eyes to savour the taste.

"Yeap," Rapunzel said, amused, "you two are definitely the sisters of drama."

The friends spent the rest of the night laughing, planning a wedding and chatting about everything in general. They ended up discussing the Harry Potter series. Rapunzel insisted she didn't need to read the books because she's seen the movies and enjoyed those enough. Anna and Elsa, avid Harry Potter fans, of course argued their case for reading the books.

"Reading the books is like watching the movie but with deleted scenes!" Anna retorted.

"And the story makes so much more sense with the book's knowledge."

"Eh, I'm unconvinced. But at least I've seen them. Eugene isn't interested at all."

"Kristoff's not interested either," Anna said without thinking.

Elsa turned a disbelieving stare on her sister, "What?"

"I know right!" she understood her sister's disbelief completely, "I made a reference the first time we met and he just looked at me with this blank stare. And it was a really good reference, too!"

"We'll have to rectify that." Elsa decided, "Eugene should also be educated."

"Oooh! We could make it a weekend thing?" Anna said, jumping up and down in her seat.

"Yeah, I could use a break from planning this wedding for a weekend," Rapunzel said casting her gaze upon the new reception seating plan they've made, satisfied.

"How 'bout this weekend? At your place?" Anna looked at her sister hopefully. Exams were done, the Yule celebrations around the corner. Elsa had taken the week off until next week Wednesday. It would work. She needed to kick the holidays off with a bang.

Elsa nodded with a smile, and Rapunzel agreed only because she had a fireplace.

The rest of the evening was spent planning on tricking the boys into watching a Harry Potter marathon. Of course, they need to be tricked. Non-fans didn't just willingly concede to a 19-hour 38-minute marathon willingly. Elsa suggested that they turn her sitting room into a giant sleep over bed, to which both Anna and Rapunzel let out excited shrieks. With excitement running high and schemes being made, the friends didn't realise how late the night had turned or how fast their sweet supply was dwindling.

The Northern Lights danced in the sky as they talked late into the night, settling into sleepy conversation. Somewhere along the line, someone had fetched some heavy blankets and a lot of pillows. They fell asleep in the sitting room, on the fluffy carpet, wrapped in blankets and full of sweets. Happy and peaceful.

There ya have it. Next up, the Harry Potter marathon :D
