First fanfic ever, so sorry it's so short. I wrote this mainly to try to get a feel for the general structure and posting mechanisms of this website...

This is based off of the Prey 2017 game. As soon as I figure out how to tag things, I'll add that in there.

Alex sighed and looked to his brother, his scowl greatly contrasting the childlike grin on Morgan's face.

"So-"

"No, Morgan."

"What? Oh come on Alex! This is groundbreaking! I mean, this is a whole new species! This could revolutionize the way we see genetic adaptation and various life forms! Plus, look how cute this thing is!" Morgan said, shoving the abomination into his brothers face once again.

Sighing, Alex reached up to massage his temples against his oncoming headache. "Morgan, please." He slowly pushed away the fuzzy creature, still frankly unnerved that his brother would have the audacity to pick up some random creature off of a planet and bring it inside the ship.

"Don't you remember what happened last time an alien species came into Talos One?"

"Oh my god, Alex, this isn't the same thing!" He said, dramatically flopping himself down into a nearby chair. In Morgan's lap lay the foreign creature in question. It was some odd spherical animal, no larger than a soccer ball. Orange and pink fur covered its entire body, save for the two webbed feet sprouting out the bottom. The thing had a little cat snout, with tiny cat ears perched atop its head. Every now and then an odd sound escaped the creature, sounding something like a duck and a cat mixed together. Upon giving a strange squawk, Morgan cooed and began petting the thing.

"See, it's harmless! This thing isn't gonna kill anybody! If it was violent, we would have seen the behavior by now!"

"Mewawk." The creature went, almost in agreement. Alex sighed as he watched Morgan set the thing down, letting it stumble its way through the suite.

"Okay, let's say I agreed with you. Where would it even stay?"

"With me." Morgan answered immediately.

"You mean with us? Since we're sharing a suite until we can repair the one the apex demolished-"

"Oh come on Alex! You won't even know he's here!"

A thwap and a thud sounded behind them, followed by a pitiful 'meowawk'. Both brothers turned around to see the creature on its back, making odd distressed sounds. Morgan rose out of his chair and bent down to pick the thing back up.

"Aw, com'mere Frank." He scooped the thing up into his arms.

"Frank?" Alex deadpanned.

"What? Oh, yeah. I named him Frank."

"I- how do you even know if it's male or female?"

There was a pause, and Alex looked up in time to see Morgan's mouth make a firm line.

"Okay, so... Frankette, then."

Alex sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. He loved his brother dearly, but for gods sakes sometimes he wished Morgan's curiosity wouldn't get them into situations like these. Now he had a damn... Frank running around the ship. He pushed his glasses up over his head to rub tiredly at his eyes. Sometimes Morgan really wore him out.

There was some more commotion that he didn't even bother acknowledging. After a few squawks and crashes, he heard Morgan's sheepish voice.

"Uh... I think Frankette just laid an egg."

He sighed yet again. "Goddamn it, Morgan."
