Hey guys is this something I had sometime back. I hoped you all like this here because me, and Ulrich362 worked on this a lot. ENJOY!

It was a fine warm day where a family was out for a picnic. A little girl was hiding behind a tree staring at it seeing an apple as she drooled. This is her one chance.

Ready she ran, and snatched the apple from the man's hand.

"W-Wha... Hey!" The man cried taking a few seconds to register what just happened.

The girl didn't looked back as she heard people running after her. For a split second she looked back before she bumped into someone looking she sees it was a boy with crimson, and green hair looking at her with a Pendulum around his neck.

She looked to her pursuers before hiding behind the boy.

The pursuers stopped as they see the boy as the man said, "You boy." "Huh, can I help you?" the boy asked. "That girl is a thief. Give her to us." The man answered pointing to the girl.

The boy looked before catching the apple she's holding. "Can you please wait sir." the boy requested before turning to the girl. "Why did you take the apple from them?"

The girl looked down before answering, "I don't got anything to eat..." The boy looked surprised before nodding. "You need to give that back, but if you don't have anything to eat do you want to come with me? I'm sure my mom can make you something."

"Huh?" The girl asked surprised.

The pursuers looked at each other before one of them asked, "Should we still call the police?" "Please don't, she didn't mean to steal." the boy told the group. "Just give back what you took, and then you can come with me. I promise you'll have something amazing to eat ok?"

The girl looked on before she stepped, and handed the apple to them. They took it back as one of them warned, "We're keeping an eye on you." Before they walked out as one of them gave the stink eye to her. The boy watched them walk off before offering his hand to the girl. "My name's Yuya, what's yours?" The girl turned answering, "Hikari."

"Well Hikari, lets get you something to eat." Yuya smiled. "Sound like a good idea?" Hikari nodded taking his hand. Yuya took her to his house before he walked in. "Mom, are you home?" "In here Yuya!" A female voice called.

Yuya nodded before walking toward the voice with Hikari. "Mom, this is Hikari." Yuya explained to a blonde woman before explaining what happened. The woman looked shocked on this as Hikari bowed her head down. "Can I ask you something Hikari?" the woman asked.

Hikari listened to her. The woman smiled gently. "What do you like to eat?" Hikari widen her eyes slightly before answering, "Perhaps... Some pancakes?" "Then give me a little time to make them." the woman told her. "In the meantime would you like to take a bath?"

Hikari looked at herself seeing she is a complete mess while her shirt is barely covering her, and her pants have holes in it. "T-That would be nice." The woman smiled. "Up the stairs, second door on the left." Hikari nodded walking up. "I feel really bad for her mom." Yuya admitted. "I know. What happened to her family?" The woman wondered while cooking.

"I haven't asked." Yuya replied.

A few minutes later...

Hikari dried herself off after a good long bath as she sighed feeling comfort. She didn't know how bad she needed it until the water hit her.

Suddenly someone knocked on the door. "Hikari, can I come in?" Yuya asked. Hikari looked, and wrapped a towel around her frame covering herself. "Y-Yeah... I'm decent!"

The door opened as Yuya walked in with some clean clothes. "Here, mom thought these would fit." Hikari nodded on it. "The pancakes are almost ready too." Yuya mentioned before noticing Hikari and looking away. "I'll give you some privacy."

Hikari said, "Thanks." "You're welcome." Yuya replied before leaving the room. Hikari went to the cloths pile to try on some.

The clothes were a little big but still fit.

Hikari walked out in a pink shirt with short blue shorts as she looked at herself in the mirror seeing her short length white as snow hair, and gray eyes. "Hikari, are you feeling any better?" the woman's voice called.

Hikari called, "Yes ma'am!" "Pancakes, are ready." the woman told her. Hikari looked at herself one last time before walking to join them. There were three plates of pancakes, one for each of them. Hikari entered on one of the chairs.

"Hikari, do you mind if I ask you something?" the woman requested. "Hm?" Hikari asked her. "Why were you stealing food? Do your parents not have enough money?" the woman asked her.

Hikari's eyes went to sadness before answering, "Their dead." Yuya and his mom's eyes widened in shock.

"I'm so sorry." the woman apologized. Hikari said, "It's okay. You didn't know." "Then, you're an orphan?" the woman asked in shock. Hikari nodded, "Just last month." The woman turned to Yuya as they met eyes before nodding and turning back to Hikari.

"Hikari, do you want a family?" Yuya asked. Hikari looked to him. "One with a mom, a dad, and a big brother?" the woman added.

Hikari's eyes started to gather tears. Yuya pulled Hikari into a gentle hug. "I'm guessing that's a yes?" Hikari started to cry in his embrace. "Then we should go and make it official." the woman smiled. Yuya nodded as Hikari continued crying. The woman walked over and gently rubbed Hikari's back too. Hikari smiled as tears of joy ran down her eyes.

Later that day...

The receptionist handed the papers to the woman.

"Thank you." the woman said taking them before going to a nearby table and sitting down. "Are you sure you want to be in our family, we aren't forcing you to do this Hikari."

Hikari nodded. The woman nodded. "Ok, then we need to fill out these forms together." Hikari walked over to her. The woman showed her the forms. Hikari checked over.

A few minutes later...

The woman handed the forms to the receptionist. The receptionist took the forms before looking them over. "Mrs. Sakaki, you need Hikari's signature as well."

Hikari walked over as she held a pen. "Sign here please." the receptionist told her calmly pointing to a line at the bottom of the first page of the forms. Hikari wrote her name on the line.

The receptionist nodded calmly. "Well Hikari Sakaki, how do you feel?" the woman asked. "Felt like I am welcomed in open arms." Hikari smiled. "You are." Yuya smiled. Hikari hugged him. Yuya hugged her back. "Welcome to the family, little sister." Hikari smiled hugging him. Yuya smiled back. Then a card fell from Hikari, and dropped to the floor. "Huh?" the woman inquired picking it up.

Leokir, Imperial of the Light

Light Type

Level 3

Pendulum Scale: 1

Warrior/Pendulum

ATK: 300

DEF: 700

Pendulum Effect: Once per turn: Target 1 monster you control it gains 100 ATK for each monster on the field until end of turn.

"Hikari, how long have you had this?" the woman asked. Hikari looked, and answered "Last week... I found it lying out at the open but I don't know why it looks totally new."

"Hikari, this is a Pendulum Card." the woman told her causing Yuya's eyes to widen. "Huh, a Pendulum Card?" Yuya asked in shock. "You know what they are?" Hikari asked them. "I thought I was the only one." Yuya told her revealing his Timegazer Magician card.

Hikari looked before looking at her card as she looked back, and forth before saying "Their exactly the same!" "Yeah..." Yuya started before looking thoughtful. "Do you know how to duel?" "Uh... Well I learned how by several kids at the park." Hikari answered. "But I was using their decks to learn. I don't have my own."

"Well, maybe my friends at You Show Duel School can help you make your own." Yuya offered. "They can?" Hikari asked him. "Well, I don't know if they can but I know they'll try to help." Yuya smiled. "I've never heard of an Imperial of the Light though." Hikari nodded smiling on it.

Meanwhile...

A man in a dark robe was digging through some rocks with a pickaxe grunting, 'Come on! They must be here somewhere...' "Hey, who are you?" questioned a man walking by. "Do you need help?"

"I'm busy!" The man yelled at him. "He was offering to help you." pointed out a woman. "If you're looking for something more eyes and hands can't hurt can they?" "This is something I must..." His pickaxe broke once it hit again as he looked before smirking, "And there it is!" He begun pulling the rocks out of the way.

The man and woman watched curiously as the man moved the rocks. He pulled out what looks like a mini metal case with complex lock. The two just looked confused before shrugging and walking off.

"Their mine." He smirked. "Their all mine!" Before seeing the lock. "Huh? This is no lock that a normal key can unlock. I see in order to unlock this chest, and aquire them I need whatever key it is. But where can I find it?"

The lock looks like a small hole where it looks like a Pendulum would fit in, and unlock it. "Great another miscalculation." The man groaned. The man just took the box before walking off into the night.

The next day...

Hikari was sleeping in her bed with a teddy bear in her embrace.

Knock Knock Knock.

"Hikari, are you awake?" Yuya asked. Hikari stirred a bit before saying still sleeping, "Five more minutes..." "I thought you wanted your own deck." Yuya reminded her. Hikari woke up yawning. "Did you sleep well sis?" Yuya asked.

"Yeah Yuya." Hikari answered with her teddy bear in her hands. Yuya smiled hearing that. Hikari washed up, and placed her hair in a braid with it hanging over her left shoulder as she smiled approving how she looks. "Are you two awake yet? Breakfast is ready." the woman's voice called.

"Yes momma!" Hikari cried walking down with her bear still with her before seeing what looks like a letter in front of the door. Picking it up it shows it's for someone named 'Yoko Sakaki'. "Everything ok Hikari?" the woman inquired. Hikari answered, "I saw a letter for someone named 'Yoko.'." "Oh, that's for me." the woman explained.

Hikari handed her the letter. Yoko opened it and started to read the letter.

Dear Mrs. Sakaki

One of us went to where they are at but we find the chest has been dug up. This is entirely bad if the chest is unlocked then it's doom for all us all. Luckily the one who found it doesn't have the key which we left to you for safe keeping. What ever you do don't let the key fail into this thief's hands.

Signed Kosa.

Yoko's eyes widened in shock. "Yuya, take Hikari to You Show I have to take care of something." Yuya looked surprised before nodding. "What's wrong Momma?" Hikari asked worried. "Nothing you need to worry about, an old friend just needs to see me." Yoko answered. Hikari looked worried before she, and Yuya walked out.

"Don't worry, I'm sure mom will be ok." Yuya reassured her. Hikari nodded still worried.

At You Show...

The two entered the school. "Zuzu! Gong! Skip!" Yuya called out. "Guys are you here!?" A pink haired girl walked up. "Hey Yuya, huh who are you?" Hikari hid behind Yuya shyly holding her bear. "I'm... I'm Hikari." She told her.

The girl crouched down. "Nice to meet you Hikari, my name's Zuzu." Hikari looked at her shyly from behind Yuya clutching her beat tightly. Zuzu noticed and frowned. "Is she ok Yuya?"

"She's just shy Zuzu." Yuya answered. "Me, and mom met her yesterday. She didn't have a home, and was stealing food." Zuzu looked shocked hearing that. "I'm so sorry." Hikari said, "I-It's okay... You just didn't know."

"Well, if you want I can be your friend if that helps." Zuzu offered with a kind smile. Hikari looked before she looked up at Yuya. Yuya was smiling. Hikari looked at Zuzu before stepping out from behind Yuya, and smiled at her. Zuzu smiled. "So what brings you to You Show?" "Well Hikari wants a deck since she has this." Yuya answered showing her the Imperial of Light card.

"No way, she has a Pendulum Card?" Zuzu asked in shock. "How is that even possible?" "Beats me." Yuya answered. "Oh, is that your only card Hikari?" Zuzu asked. Hikari nodded.

"Then you can't Pendulum Summon, you need two Pendulum cards." Yuya told her. "We can still look for a deck though." Hikari asked, "Then how can we find some?" "There are a few extra cards in the back, do you want to look and see if you can make a deck?" Zuzu asked. Hikari looked a bit uncertain, but nodded. "I'll help look too." Yuya offered.

Hikari nodded as they walked to the back before they heard a crash. "What was that?" Yuya asked. They ran as they see a man with red hair on his back groaning pushing box off him. "Dad, what happened?" Zuzu asked.

"Argh... That is the last time I am trying to place box up there by myself." The man groaned before turning to see company. "Oh didn't you two there. What are you doing back here?" "We were helping my little sister find some cards for her deck." Yuya answered. "Hikari, meet Skip Hiiragi, the principal of You Show Duel School."

"Hello there! Are you here to be a student!?" Skip asked fired up which made Hikari spooked a bit before hiding behind Yuya.

BAM!

Zuzu smacked her father with a paper fan in annoyance.

Yuya just chuckled. "That happens around here Hikari." With those words Yuya picked up one of the boxes.

"Want to start looking?"

Hikari walked to the box to start looking.

Several minutes later...

Hikari is getting miserable because she can't find the perfect style for her. Yuya noticed before looking and seeing a card. "What do you think of this one Hikari?" Hikari looked. It was a monster named Consecrated Light.

"Whoa it's pretty..." She admitted.

Then a big man holding a small package walked in before knocking on the door to the room. Skip noticed and walked over. "Hello, can I help you?" "You know me Skip." The big man answered.

"Huh, hey Gong." Yuya smiled walking up. "It's great to see you." "Good to see you to Yuya." Gong nodded before Hikari hid behind Yuya scared of his height.

One explanation later...

Hikari nodded getting that in. Zuzu sees the package in Gong's hands. "Huh, what's that?" Zuzu inquired.

"Oh this is a package delivered here." Gong answered. "It doesn't have a return address." Skip took the package before opening it.

It was shown to be a deck box which contains a deck.

"Huh?" Skip inquired before taking out the deck and looking at it. He sees one of the cards.

"Hikari right?" Skip asked. "Do you mind if I see your card?" Hikari hand him her card. Skip did a quick count before nodding and adding the card to the deck before giving it to her. "40 exactly."

"Huh?" Hikari asked. "This deck must belong to you." Skip smiled. "So, do you want to try it out?" Hikari looked over her new deck seeing it involves about light. "Amazing."

"Do you want to duel Hikari?" Yuya asked before pausing. "Actually, have you even been in an Action Duel?" "No I only been in Normal ones." She answered. "Well you see..." Yuya started before explaining Action Duels. "So do you want to try one?" Hikari gave it thought before saying, "I think I should try one later."

"Then just a normal duel for now." Yuya said. Hikari nodded as they walked before three kids walked up.

Meanwhile...

"Kosa, where are you?" Yoko called.

"Over here Yoko." A man with brown hair answered wearing a white robe while holding a small wand. "I assume you got my letter?" "I did, but what does this mean?" Yoko asked him. "We were the only ones who knew where that was so if someone stole it..." "It means we've been betrayed." the man finished.

"But why, who would do that?" Yoko questioned. "I have no idea." Kosa answered. "We need to keep the key protected. Where did you keep it at?" "It's with my son, he doesn't know what it really is but... you saw his duel with the Sledgehammer right?" Yoko inquired.

"I did. If he finds out it's the key..." Kosa trailed off. "He won't." Yoko stated. "Still, we need to be careful. You should come spend some time with me and Yuya, it's dangerous." "I appreciate that Yoko." Kosa nodded as they walked off.

Back at You Show...

After introducing herself to the kids (While Hikari blushed around Tate) they stepped to the field to get ready. "Ready Hikari?" Yuya asked. "This is just for fun so don't worry about winning or losing ok?" Hikari nodded activating her Duel Disk. Yuya activated his. "You can go first."

"DUEL!"

"Ok Hikari, are you ready for my move?" Yuya inquired.

Hikari nodded on it.

Yuya nodded "With the Scale 1 Stargazer Magician and the Scale 8 Timegazer Magician, I Set the Pendulum Scale!"

"With this, I can Summon monsters with Levels 2 through 7! Swing, pendulum of souls! Draw an arc of light across the ether! Pendulum Summon! Appear now! My monsters! Pendulum Summon! I summon Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, and Performapal Silver Claw!"

What appeared from the portal was a dragon with 2500 points roaring, and a wolf appeared howling.

Hikari looked totally off-guard by that move. "No way... You can summon monsters like that even high-leveled ones without sacrifices!?"

"Yeah, as long as the level of my monsters is in between the Pendulum Scale I can summon them from my hand." Yuya explained. "Now I attack Gapotora with Performapal Silver Claw, and when he attacks all my Performapals gain 300 attack points!"

Silver Claw: (ATK: 1800 + 300 = 2100)

The wolf howled charging as Gapotora shattered on it. "Now Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon attacks you directly!" Yuya continued. The dragon roared firing a stream of energy as Hikari braced her arms in a attempt to defend herself. The attack hit but didn't hurt. (Hikari: 1500)

'That was a bit scary...' Hikari admitted in her mind. "Hikari, are you ok?" Yuya asked nervously. "Yeah I'm okay." She answered.

"Do you want to stop?" Yuya asked. "We don't have to continue if you don't want to."

"N-No... This isn't any different then the duels I have taken from learning the game." Hikari answered. Yuya looked hesitant but nodded. "If you're sure, then I end my turn."

Hikari: 1500

Yuya: 4000

Hikari 2nd Turn:

Hikari drew, and the card she drew was Polymerization. Everyone watched patiently for Hikari's move. 'Polymerization... This is one of the cards they used... It summon Fusion Monsters if I remember correctly.' Hikari thought looking at her current hand. 'Okay suppose I'll give it a test run.'

"I play Polymerization!" Hikari revealed.

Polymerization

Normal Spell Card

Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or field as Fusion Materials.

"Huh?" Yuya and the others asked in shock.

"And I'll pick to fuse Lyoko, Ninja of the Light, and XANA, Sorcerer of the Light!" Hikari cried as two people appeared before jumping to the vortex. "I Fusion Summon Leoric, High King of the Light!"

A royal man wielding a beam of light as a weapon appeared while his cape, and crown are both made of light as well.

"Hikari, you can Fusion Summon?" Yuya asked in shock.

"Several of the kids I was taught by can." Hikari answered before widening her eyes. "Is that a bad thing? Did I make a mistake? Did I cheat without noticing? Did I-"

"No, you didn't cheat it's just well..." Yuya started.

"None of us can Fusion Summon, so we were a little surprised." Zuzu explained. "It's perfectly ok though." Hikari sighed in relief hearing that before saying, "Leoric attack Odd-Eyes!" The king with 2300 points charged at the dragon.

"Huh, your monster is weaker than mine." Yuya reminded her.

"Leoric's ability activates! When he attacks a monster with higher attack points it loses 500 attack points for each monster with 'The Light' in it's name in my graveyard!" Hikari revealed.

Yuya's eyes widened as his dragons points dropped.

Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon: (ATK: 2500 - (500 * 3) = 1000)

Using the light beam in his hand like a blade Leoric slashed Odd-Eyes shattering it. (Yuya: 2700) Yuya just stared in shock as his dragon was destroyed. Leoric jumped back to his mistress' side of the field. "Uh Yuya are you okay?" Hikari asked worried she might of upseted him.

Yuya just stared at her without saying anything as he lowered his goggles over his eyes. 'Did I did someone to make him feel bad...?' Hikari thought sadden. "I... I surrender." Yuya told her quietly. "Huh?" Hikari asked surprised.

Yuya just put his hand over his duel disc as his life points dropped to zero.

Hikari: 1500

Yuya: 2700 (Surrendered)

Hikari wins the duel!

The holograms vanished as Hikari looked devastated at this. Yuya just walked off. Hikari started to cry out of the open. 'I made him sad! I made him feel bad! I am a terrible person!' Zuzu ran up and hugged her. "Don't cry, it's ok."

Hikari remained in her embrace. Everyone just watched quietly as Zuzu held Hikari to try and comfort her. "I... I made him sad. I am a terrible sister..." Hikari softly sobbed. "No you aren't." Zuzu told her. "I don't know what's wrong with Yuya but I promise it isn't your fault."

"Then why did he surrendered?" Hikari asked. "I don't know." Zuzu answered. Hikari continued to cry in her arms. Zuzu held her gently. "Come on, lets get you home."

With Yuya...

Yuya was in his room looking down before just lying down on his bed to try and forget what happened. A roar have caught his attention. Yuya looked up in surprise. It was a transparent version of Odd-Eyes staring at him. Yuya looked at his dragon before tearing up. "Odd-Eyes, I'm so sorry."

Odd-Eyes roared slightly before appeared to be telling him something. 'Extra Deck...' Yuya couldn't understand and just fell to his knees crying. Odd-Eyes bowed his head attempting to rub his head against Yuya's but due to being transparent to can't. 'Extra Deck...'

Yuya just kept crying before closing his eyes and putting his deck on his dresser before walking away from it and lying down with tears running down his face.

And that's it for the first chapter everyone. Don;t worry Yuya won;t be stuck like this forever. This was before his match with Sora so he doesn't know what other things Pendulum has to offer. Next up is a new arc before the start of the ARC-V story where the guy you seen is out for the key of the chest. Be sure to review!
