Hello, everyone! My name is the Northstar Pokeshipper, but you can call me Northstar. Welcome to the story I want to tell you guys, The Longest Road. This story is a rewrite of the first season of the Pokemon anime with a huge focus on my favorite ship of them all, Pokeshipping. It will have Ash Ketchum, Misty Waterflower, and all of their friends going down the longest road, also known as life. They will catch Pokemon, earn badges, defeat evil teams, win the Pokemon League, and find true love. If you have read any of my old stories or the review section of some stories, then you know that I am notorious for bashing Serena Yvonne, her ship with Ash, and those who support it. Well, that will not be happening in this story, as that is one of the primary reasons I am writing it. I want to get rid of that reputation, so I will be kind to all of the characters in this story and portray them accurately. And yes, even Serena! The other reasons I am writing this is because of the lack of Pokeshipping anime rewrites. Sure, there are a few remakes of Ash's journey on this site, they include either Amourshipping or no shipping at all. I am going to be changing that with this story. And while I do not know most of the road ahead, I can say it will be a long and exciting ride. Now, before we go, I must tell you all that I do not own anything related to Pokemon! (Well, except for copies of nearly every main series game. And, books about the anime. Oh, and copies of the first eight volumes in Pokemon Adventures, a few notebooks with Pokemon on them, and plushies of some of the starters, and a couple of Pokemon DVDs, and, to make my collection complete, a couple of t-shirts!) Enough of my rambling, though! Time to get going on the Longest Road!

Pokemon. What exactly are Pokemon? Well, to answer that question truthfully and directly, Pokemon are some of the most amazing creatures to ever walk the face of this world.

Pokemon come in all shapes and sizes, from the might long Onix (at 28 feet and 10 inches long), to the tiny Diglett (at 8 inches tall), to the bulky Snorlax (at 1,014 pounds), to the lightweight Gastly (at 0.2 pounds).

Pokemon also have amazing powers, like Charizard being able to burn mountains with a single Flamethrower, Blastoise being able to shoot enough water to fill one hundred Olympic swimming pools in a minute, Alakazam having an IQ of over 9,000, and Machop being able to hold a full grown adult.

Ever since they have existed, humans have received help from these beautiful creatures in many ways. As you would expect, humans have grown close to Pokemon. Some people keep Pokemon as pets, but what most people catch Pokemon for is for the most popular sport in this world.

For as long as Pokemon and humans have been together, they have been using Pokemon to battle one another. Pokemon battling quickly became a hobby in its early days, and eventually, it grew into a game that everyone wanted to take part. Starting at a certain age depending on where in the world they live, children were expected to leave home and go on their own Pokemon journey. They would try and battle their way to the top in the Pokemon League. The story I want to tell you guys tells about one such trainer, and his journey to become the league's very best. He will catch several Pokemon, make many friends, earn badges, defeat the forces of evil, win leagues, and even find true love. This is the story of Ash Ketchum, my friends.

Ash Ketchum was a boy who lived in the small town of Pallet with his mother, Delia, and father figure, Professor Oak. Ash never knew anything about his birth father, as Mr. Ketchum had died a couple of months after Ash was born, and Delia found talking about him too upsetting. But Ash did not mind that, as he loved his father figure just as much. For Prof. Oak gave him his most significant interest, and that interest was Pokemon.

Oak got Ash hooked on Pokemon at a young age when Delia sent her son to Oak's lab for the day while she ran some errands. Ash, who was only five years old at the time, sat down on the couch in the main room of the lab, bored out of his mind. That was when Oak went up to him.

"Ash? Would you like to help me take care of the Pokemon out back? It will give you something to do until your mother comes to pick you back up later." the old professor said to the young raven haired boy. Ash looked up to his father figure.

"I suppose. It will give me something to do" Ash said, getting up from his seat on the couch. He and his father figure went out back to where Oak kept other trainer's Pokemon. However, instead of helping out the Pokemon, like Oak intended Ash to do, Ash decided to befriend some of the Pokemon. The Pokemon at the ranch quickly took a liking towards Ash. Oak looked at him and smiled.

"It looks like Ash will be an amazing Pokemon trainer one day." the old man said to himself as he watched Ash bond with the Pokemon. When Ash's mom came to pick her son up that afternoon, Oak gave Ash a book that was about Pokemon. The professor then started to talk to Delia before she left with her son to go home for the day.

"I saw that your son has a real soft spot for Pokemon. I gave him a book that will help him understand the basics of Pokemon so he could be a successful trainer when he begins his journey." the old man said to Delia. Ash's mom nodded before taking her son's hand.

"Come on, Ash. It is time to go home," she said to her son as they walked back to their house, which was a couple of minutes walk from Prof. Oak's lab.

"So, Ash. I heard that you had fun with the Pokemon in Oak's ranch today" Delia told her son.

"Yeah," Ash said, smiling. Delia also smiled, knowing that her son would be a strong trainer someday.

And Delia was right, as Ash quickly took in as much information on Pokemon as he could. By the time he was nine years old, he knew just as much as Prof. Oak and aced all of his tests at school. And with a great love of Pokemon came great respect for the Pokemon League. It was a day before Ash's tenth birthday when Oak and Delia promised him that they would give him his first ever Pokemon before he began his journey in a little over two years. Ash was watching a Pokemon battle on the TV. It was a matchup between Nidorino and Gengar.

"Nidorino! Use Horn Attack on Gengar!" Nidorino's trainer said on the TV. The poison type used the attack on Gengar, but it did little damage.

"Gengar! Use your Hypnosis attack on Nidorino!" Gengar's trainer told to the ghost and poison type Pokemon. Gengar went extremely close to Nidorino and used Hypnosis on the Pokemon, putting him to sleep instantly. Seeing as how his Pokemon was now a sitting Psyduck, Nidorino's trainer returned his Pokemon and sent out his next one: Onix. This part of the battle got Ash excited.

"Yeah! Go Onix! Take out that Gengar!" Ash shouted at the television before it was turned off. Ash looked back to see his mother.

"Ash, it is time for you to get some sleep," Delia told her son.

"But mom, the battle was just getting good!" Ash said.

"You can watch more of the Pokemon League tomorrow, Ash. It is getting late. And it's your birthday tomorrow. You want to be rested for when you get your first Pokemon tomorrow, right?" Delia asked. Ash sighed.

"Alright, mom. Goodnight", the raven-haired boy, said as he went up to his room and went to bed. After a few minutes, Delia went to Prof. Oak's house to talk to him about what Oak would be giving her son for his birthday. She knocked on the door of Prof. Oak's lab, and the old man answered.

"Oh, hello, Delia. What brings you to my lab this evening?" he asked Delia.

"I have come here to talk to you about Ash's birthday tomorrow," Delia told him. "You promised my son that you would give him a Pokemon. What Pokemon do you plan on giving him?"

"Well, on a trip to Viridian Forest earlier today, I caught a Pokemon that I think would work perfectly for Ash" Oak said.

"Well, I can not wait to see it. I bet Ash will be happy to have that Pokemon as a friend and a partner when he starts his journey in two years." Delia told Prof. Oak. The old man nodded.

"See you tomorrow with Ash, Delia. I love you" he said before kissing Ash's mom. She returned the kiss for a brief moment.

"I love you too!" Delia said before returning home.

But enough of talking about Ash (for now). Let's meet one of the most important people he will be traveling with, Misty Waterflower. Misty lives in Cerulean City with her sisters, Daisy, Lily, and Violet. Misty did not care for her sisters, as they cared more about their water ballet shows (for which Cerulean City is famous) than her. But for the time being, Misty was stuck living with them, as her parents died within a year of each other when she was younger.

Because of her sisters' water show, it was only natural for Misty to fall in love with Water-type Pokemon. Her job in the theater where the water shows take place was to help out with them, and she loved it. When she was old enough to get out of the gym, she set her goal to be a water type Pokemon Master, and maybe even a better gym leader than her sisters.

You see, in addition to being the stars of the most famous show in Cerulean City, Misty's sisters were also the gym leaders of the town. However, they have little interest in raising the Pokemon they inherited from their parents- let alone battling other Pokemon. They currently have the longest losing streak of any trainer, gym leader or otherwise, in the league at 950 straight losses. Misty was sure that once she was able to train Pokemon, she would take over the gym and save Cerulean City from the reputation of Pokemon League laughing stock.

Right now, Misty was in the living room of the gym. All of the Pokemon that lived in the gym already have been given food and sent to bed, and Misty's sisters were all out on dates with different boys. Misty sighed. Whenever Daisy, Lily, or Violet were not continuing the longest losing streak in all of Pokemon battling history or doing one of their water shows, they were dating. Misty sighed. They would not be home until later that night, so she decided to spend some time watching a video she got back for her fourth birthday, again when her parents were alive. It was an animated film about mermaid trying to find love in the form of a person who lives on land. Misty watched it a hundred times.

"I can relate to the mermaid. I want to be out of the world I am familiar with and head to what is outside. And maybe, I can find my prince like the mermaid" Misty turned the VCR off before she went to her room and fell asleep, not knowing that in a little over two years, she would be traveling her prince.

And that just about does it for the first chapter of many for my story. In the next episode, Ash and Misty will be meeting their first Pokemon and starting the longest friendships that they will have in the story, other than with each other of course! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a review. Also in the review section, you can also give me some constructive criticism or some suggestions for the story. And if you liked the first chapter, remember to favorite and follow this story, so you know when new episodes come out! I will see you next time, welcome to the show, and dare to Pokeship!
