Chapter 4

Aragorn was pacing the room, worrying out of his mind. Legolas didn't know who he was… His best friend had amnesia. This was bad.. This was very bad.. And when Legolas said he didn't recognize him, that hurt.. The elf couldn't help it, so he didn't blame him of course, but it still hurt knowing his best friend didn't recognize him.

"Estel, please stop pacing. You're giving me a headache," Elrohir said.

Estel turned to him. "Sorry.. I just.." he shook his head. He felt someone's hand on his shoulder.

"It's okay. We understand. He's your best friend, and seeing him like this is painful. Ada said he will recover though. He said it's only temporary," Elladan said.

Estel sighed. "You're right. If anything I should be by his side, trying to get him to remember."

Elrohir and Elladan both nodded. "Let's go see our mellon then. Ada wants to see if he remembers anything at all."

The ranger nodded, and with that, the two elves and the human left.

Legolas was sitting up in bed, staring out the window. True, he didn't remember much, but he did know that he loved nature, especially trees. They gave him comfort. Though he felt alone not remembering who he or anyone else were, the trees told him everything would be okay. He trusted them.

He was hoping to be able to get out of bed today, but his healer had told him he had a concussion, and even though he healed fast, another day's rest would be needed. It was bugging him not knowing who anyone was. This place seemed familiar, and the people seemed familiar, but he didn't know why. He hoped that wherever his memory was, it would come back soon.

Legolas heard a knock at the door. "Come in," he said. His voice was getting stronger, but it was still a little weak. The human from earlier, and the two identical elves walked in. Behind them was his healer, who he found out was Lord Elrond. "Legolas?" Elrond said.

There was a few moments of silence before he responded, realising they were talking to him. "Oh! Legolas is my name, isn't it? I almost forgot.." he said quietly, a bit embarrassed. Even if his memory was gone, he still felt as though he should know his own name.

The human groaned and mumbled something he couldn't make out. It seemed as though Legolas forgetting his name really upset him. The elf's eyes widened at this. "I apologize. I'm sure I'll remember it.. It's probably just the head injury.." he said. "Things do seem clearer than the last time you were here.."

At this news, Aragorn brightened up a little. "They do? How so?"

Legolas shrugged. "I do not know who you are but.. You seem familiar. Are we friends perhaps? Anywho, this place I am in seems oddly familiar too.. And I must have loved nature before, for it calls to me even now."

Aragorn, the twins, and Elrond all smiled at this. "Aye, we are friends. Close friends at that," the ranger replied. "And you have been here before, in this room… More times than I can remember," he said, chuckling at thinking of all the times he or the elf had been confined to the healer's ward. He was also glad the elf still had his connection with ranger. Legolas smiled too, sensing this was good news.

"This is a good start. I bet a few days is all you need before you start to recall everything else," Lord Elrond said. He had seen many cases of memory loss with his experience as a healer, and all of the patients had recovered at different lengths of times. Legolas, already slightly remembering some things, and having his elven healing ability, was sure to recover soon.

For the next few days, Legolas had been quickly recovering. Elrond finally deemed his concussion gone, which meant he could get out of the healing ward. Not only that, but most of his memory had returned too. There were still a few things missing. He couldn't quite remember what his home looked like, or the past week before he got injured. He couldn't remember who a few select elves were, but for the most part, he was doing pretty well. At first, it hurt his brain to try to remember who and what everything was. Then, it gradually became easier. Someone would say something that triggered a memory or two, and he suddenly remembered something more. At this rate, Elrond said his full memory would return in less than a week. He said it was hard to be sure though, but the guess was good enough for Legolas.

Aragorn had been overjoyed when Legolas mentioned that he remembered him. So had Elrohir and Elladan, for they knew how it was affecting their step brother. Estel said that even if Legolas didn't retain the rest of his memory, it would still be enough now that he remembered mostly everyone. Everyone was also very relieved that Legolas' memory was returning, because none of them wanted to be the one to tell King Thranduil about his son's condition. Luckily, since it had worsen, they didn't have to. They just hoped the young prince would continue to recover.

Three days later, Legolas had finally regained his complete memory. Elrond checked just to be sure, and everything now seemed to be fine for the archer. His near perfect memory seemed just as good as it had ever been. Everyone was extremely glad, but most of all Aragorn. He couldn't forget the fear that his best friend had given him when he first said he didn't know who he was. All of that fear was gone though, and was instead replaced with contentment. Legolas, Aragorn, Elrohir, Elladan, and Elrond just all hoped that the prince wouldn't be losing his memory again anytime soon, for it had been ruff on all of them. In fact, they all hoped Legolas and Aragorn would both return back to Rivendell in one piece after their next journey. Of course, knowing them, that wish would never come to pass. That duo never managed to escape harm.

End.

A/N: Yeesh.. Was it just me or did I write that chapter horribly? Is it obvious that I rushed the ending? I apologize guys. It's kinda hard to write a series of oneshots when no one gives me ideas :(

So yeah, that being said, please leave a comment and PLEASE leave an idea for a oneshot! The more ideas I get, the better the story will be!

Until next time ;)
