A/N: The song that will play later on is "I'm Just Your Problem" from the show, Adventure Time. (Oops. I wrote the wrong show before. Thanks the kind anon!) The song was sung by two different singers, Ashe (as Marshal Lee) and Mikutan (as Marceline) and mixed together by UbernessNightcore. It's too bad I can't link anything here. Do check it out on Youtube, it'll help visualize the moments better.
"So, what do you think we should do to get those two idiots to make up?"
While removing her indoor shoes by her locker, Soyo turned to a weary Shinpachi. She could tell he's had enough of Kagura-chan's daily beatings. She was also sick of the cold war between the stubborn girl and the student council president, Okita-san. In short, she wanted her best friend back.
"Don't worry, I got this." She assured him, closing her locker. "It's simple. I'll bring Kagura-chan to the karaoke near the school for a 'girls night out'. And you'll make some sort of excuse to bring Okita-san to the same room as us. Then we'll…" She whispered the rest of the plan into his ears, afraid a passerby would leak the plan.
"What is this? Why is 'the one who shall not be named' here?!" Kagura-chan glared at the listless high school boy sitting across from her.
"You're still able to talk with all that food stuffed in your mouth?" He asked in his usual deadpan voice.
"Grrr." She growled. "The sooner I'm done eating all of these, the sooner I can go home."
Kagura watched the left corner of Sadist's mouth rise into a wicked grin. She predicted that his smart mouth was about to say something that will further infuriate her.
"Just shut it, Sadist."
"I thought I was 'the one who shall not be named'."
Kagura raised her arm to throw a recently cleaned chicken bone at him, but was stopped by her best friend.
"Soyooo~"
"Now, children. Why don't you compete in something less destructive? Jii-chan'll be furious if I ask for money to repair another building."
Soyo shoved a microphone in Kagura's hands and pushed her off the couch. Meanwhile, Shinpachi held another microphone flat in his hands, waiting for the president to take the mic off his hands like a good servant. Seeing that it's been awhile since China girl talked with him, Sougo saw this as an opportunity to catch up. He snatched the microphone from his vice-president's hands and stood beside Kagura in front of the large TV hanging at the center of the back wall.
Before the two could question which song it was they were about to sing, an electric guitar started to play and their eyes focused on the lyrics. Only Soyo knew that this wasn't a duet so they weren't actually going to be graded based on their vocals. She felt that with an unfamiliar song like this, the pair would be forced to either sing together or take the part they felt suited them the most.
"La da da da da." A low voice spoke while a high-pitched voice sung off-key on purpose, relying on the mic's feedback to deafen the listeners, specifically the sadist beside her.
Kagura took the lead once she read the lyrics, pointing her finger towards Sadist. "I'm gonna bury you in the ground." She already liked this song.
"La da da da da." The two sung together again in a harmonious mess.
This time, Sougo beat Kagura to the next line. "I'm gonna bury you with my sound. Aaaah." He took this moment to use the feedback on the mic too. The others covered their ears to protect themselves. Seeing that he tortured the others enough, he proceeded with the next line. "Gonna drink the red from your pretty pink-" He looked over to the girl next to him. Her mouth was wide open in shock and her eyes were visibly disturbed."What? You don't like that? Or do you just not like me?"
He had to hand it to Soyo for picking such a good song. It truly portrayed what's in his heart, but was unable to voice out usually.
"Sorry, I don't treat you like a goddess. Is that what you want me to do?" He mentioned sarcastically.
Reading the next line on the screen, Kagura felt it was her turn to sing. "Sorry I don't treat you like you're perfect like all your little loyal subjects do."
"Sorry, I'm not made of sugar. Am I not sweet enough for you?" Sougo asked. Hearing the Prince of Sadists half-sing and half-say this line was certainly strange to Kagura's ears. "Is that why you always avoid me?"
To answer him, she sung the next line. "I must be such an inconvenience to you. Well, I'm just your 'problem'."
"I'm just 'your' problem." He repeated.
"It's like I'm not even a person, am I?" She accused him. "I'm just your 'problem'. Well-"
"I shouldn't have to justify what I do." He butt in.
"I also shouldn't have to prove anything to you." Kagura sung back.
Sougo missed China overreacting to his pranks. He was getting tired of this cold war, too. Reading the lyrics, Sougo decided to be more sincere and actually sing. "I'm sorry that I exist. I forgot what landed me on your blacklist. But I shouldn't have to be the one that makes up with you so…Why do I want to?"
He watched the girl beside him from the corner of his eye, she was clearly shocked at his singing voice.
"Why…" She started the next line in a voice that was barely audible.
"Why do I want to…?" He snatched the rest of the sentence."Cause I don't have a clue."
Sensing Sadist's change of heart, Kagura proceeded with the next line. "I'm asking you."
"So, why do I want to?" He repeated again.
"That's why I want to bury you in the ground!" She thought about the enigma known as Sadist and how easily she's falling for him in spite of having just transferred into the school six months ago. "That's why I don't want to hear another sound!"
"I'm sorry that it's this way." Sougo sung in a low tone, almost as if he was speaking."But I don't know what else to say."
"So, why do I want to apologize to you?" Kagura started to do less yelling and more singing. "Cause I'm just your-"
"I'm just your-" He interrupted her.
"Problem." The two had finished the sentence while looking at each other's eyes as the music faded.
Claps were heard in the room, disrupting the moment. Kagura was the first to look away while Sougo frowned at the interruption.
"Will the lead school journalist and my vice president cease filming? Unauthorized use of the school camera could grant you a week's worth of the soccer club's laundry duties."
"Says who?" Soyo asked. She was very familiar with the school guidelines.
"Says the Student Council President." Sougo stated. "Now will you two leave? China girl and I have a 'meeting' to hold."
Seeing that Soyo and Shinpachi had fulfilled the first part of their task, they followed the President's orders and left.
"What meeting?" China asked. "I'm not even in the Student Council or any club for that matter."
"See, I think that's the problem here." He pointed out.
"I don't need to listen to this." Kagura turned the handle of the doorknob. "It's locked."
She started to panic. The thought of being alone with Sadist didn't sit well with her. She looked at the school president calmly sitting on the couch and a thought hit her. "You-You did this, didn't you?"
For the first time in her life, she witnessed his smile.
"Ah! Help! My eyes!" She covered the image of a smiling Sadist from afar, for fear of the image permanently planting itself in her mind.
He smiled wider. As idiotic as China girl was, he definitely missed moments like these.
A/N: I was going to make this into a super short 500 word one-shot but it turned into something longer. Ahahaha. I can't finish the essay that's due soon but I can conjure another Okikagu fic in two hours, my half-assed editing included. Why brain? Why? See, this is what happens when I hear a good song. TT-TT And if anyone wants to, I dunno, make an amv...*wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*
Too many author's notes in one chappie~ But I wanted to mention that readers should feel free to comment on any of my mistakes (I know my profs do way too much~). Don't worry, I can take it ^_- Plus, I never write any of my fics without some good old stress-induced panic (thank you deadlines and exams~) so I'm really out of it~ Anyways, thanks for reading!
