"Lena I will be fine" Kara winked across at the raven haired beauty that laid across her bed, she went and knelt on the bed, leaning forward to kiss the Luthor on her forehead

"I always am" she smiled

She went to stand and leave when Lena caught her cape and dragged her backwards on to the bed, the blonde tumbling onto the soft mattress as Lena straddled her waist, a sly smile on her lips

"And what if I need Supergirl here?" she asked, biting her lip playfully

Kara grinned up at her "Believe me I would" propping herself up on her elbows "But the DEO wants me to check out this anomaly-

Her words were cut off by Lena's lips capturing hers, hands sliding through her loose blonde hair and for a moment Kara couldn't think straight, her fingers gripping the bed sheet that was loosely wrapped around Lena's curves

The beeping in Kara's comms pulled her attention back to why she had to drag herself out of bed in the first place and away from Lena's warm body

"I have to go" she mumbled against Lena's lips, she leant back slightly, gazing into Lena's green eyes "They're calling me"

A small pout appeared on Lena's lips

Kara easily scooped Lena off her and placed her on the bed, giving her one last kiss

"I'll be back before you know it" she smiled

Lena gave her a small smile in return "Hurry back to me my love"

"Always" Kara said before, walking from the room and taking off out of her window and across the National City skyline

It took her moments before landing on the balcony of the DEO building, her sister standing there to meet her, an unimpressed look on her face

"Y'know you still have to do your job even if you have a girlfriend right" she crossed her arms over her chest

"I'm sorry" Kara said blushing "You just called at an unfortunate time"

Alex flashed her a teasing smile "Come on sis, there is work to be done"

They both entered and went straight to the command centre, where Winn and J'onn were, Winn was tapping away at his computer

"What have you found out?" asked Kara as she looked towards the big screen at a thermal image

"An anomaly was picked up just outside of the earth's atmosphere, it's not giving off any thermal or radiation readings" J'onn explained, a serious look on his features like always

"So what is it made of?" she asked

"We don't know" Winn spun in his chair to face them "It has no mass or weight, no temperature, it shouldn't exist… but there it is" he clicked another button and the thermal screen changed to show the view from a satellite nearby, the anomaly emitted a bright light.

"So you want me to go have a look?" Kara asked as she examined the strange light on the screen

"Yes but obviously extreme caution is needed here Kara" Alex said "We don't know what that is, or how dangerous it could be"

Kara nodded

"So basically don't go poking it with a stick" Winn muttered, smiling to himself

All three of the others gave him the same look, making him blush

"Sorry it's my internal monologue" he shrugged shyly

Kara flashed him a smile and turned to leave "Where exactly is it?"

"It's in the troposphere over the Gulf the Mexico and people are already starting to notice it as the sun goes down" Winn called out after the blonde who was taking off into the sky.

Kara raced across the country ascending higher and higher, it didn't take her long before she could see it in the distance, it almost looked like a star from this distance, but as she got closer she could see it wasn't very big at all, the glowing light was about the her height.

She slowed and stayed at a distance, circling it, she tried her x-ray vision but it was like it was invisible

"Kara?" Alex's voice in her ear "What have you got?"

"I don't know" Kara's brows knitted together "It just appears to be a light but it has no source, I really don't know"

Kara heightened all her senses trying to figure out what this thing was, then she could hear something, it was faint but she thought she could hear metal, as if something was clashing two pieces of metal together

"I think I can hear something but I'm not sure" Kara edged closer

"Hear something? Like what?" Alex asked

Kara shook her head "I don't know maybe something metallic, I'm going to get a little closer to hear better"

Kara was now only a few feet away from the light

"I can hear shouting" Kara said staring into the bright light, utterly confused by everything

Beeping came through the comms

"KARA GET OUT OF THERE!" Winn called

"What?" Kara tried to back away but the light suddenly exploded, engulfing the blonde

Alex stared at the screen as everything went dark, no strange light and more importantly no Kara

"Kara?" she said "Kara talk to me"

But no answer came

"Winn what the hell just happened" Alex couldn't tear her eyes from the screen

"I… uh" Winn tapped furiously at his keyboard "I don't know, it's gone… whatever it is it's just gone"

Alex whirled around and stormed over to Winn, grasping the back of his chair and spinning him to face her, nerves spread across his face

"Where is Kara?" she demanded

"I don't know" his voice was higher than normal "Her comms are offline" his words were rushed with stress

A hand came down to rest on Alex's shoulder, she turned to face J'onn

"Alex this is not helping"

"My sister is missing" she countered

"So let Winn do his job" he said calmly, he held her gaze until she yielded and released Winn's chair, stepping back

"We have to find her"

"We will do everything, you know this" he squeezed her arm gently, trying to comfort her but it was no use

Kara was now missing and Alex had no idea what had happened to her, her mind ran with the worst possibilities as she stared at the blank screen, her heart sinking.
