He awoke in the middle of the night, no noise at all except for the comedic snores of his siblings. They had no idea, did they?
He put on his cap, as if it would somehow protect him. Maybe his inability to sleep was because he was hungry.
He didn't bother checking the fridge. Midnight as it may be, he wanted to go out and be in the fresh air, like maybe that would clear his mind.
Yes, out there, after a long climb down to the asphalt floor, he could empty his mind and think happy things. Not worry about the horrible sense of foreboding that made a pit deep in his stomach. Not the 'special friend' feeling he dubbed it to be. Perhaps, after tonight, that's what he would tell his siblings, of a special friend feeling that kept him up and sent him on a midnight sandwich run.
Not even the promising idea of Swiss cheese and crisp apple could hide him from knowing, though.
Something was coming, and he had just started it all.
She groggily walked around the house, searching every room for a hooded sweater of some sort.
That's when she found it.
A camera, dull gray with a long stripe of blue. Curious, she opened it up, but she only found video after video after folders of more videos.
Unsettling videos. Videos that made her want to scream, out of rage or fear or anything that she could muster.
She shoved the old camera into her backpack.
After school, she would burn it.
"No, no, no!"
He paced the room, hands in his hair. This wasn't how it was supposed to go! She was supposed to have moved on by now, gotten over that stupid dog and go back to her creating.
Was it the dog messing it all up, or her?
Never mind. What he needed was to be recognized. To finally be respected as a member of this group. He knew exactly what he need to do, and all it required was a little device.
"Elucidator." He whispered. "Take me to 2013."

Warner Brothers does not belong to me. If it did, Animaniacs would still be going.
Esme, Ren, Gunner, and pretty much anyone that's unfamiliar belong to me.
Time travel is heavily stressed in this book. And as I am not very skilled in science, most of the laws of Time Travel here are based off of Haddix's books in The Missing series. Since none of the characters from that are present, however, I will not mark this as a crossover.
