Long time no post, huh? Sorry for not posting as much as I used to, life's been getting in the way. Good news, ya boy's gotten accepted to college! Related point, I figured out I'm trans, and I have an amazing boyfriend and platonic lifebro. This and my previous piece (in the Magicians fandom) are two of three works done for my creative writing class.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Flash in any way, shape, or form, no matter how much I wish I did.
Caitlin never wanted her powers.
She had found out that, in a roundabout way from Cisco after he and Barry got back from Earth Two, her doppelgänger was evil and went by the name Killer Frost.
After that, she had feared that she was going to develop her powers just like Barry and Cisco did from the particle accelerator explosion, just like Jesse did from the second explosion. So she waited, and waited, and waited, until she realized that the fear was all for naught.
Caitlin never wanted her powers.
Zoom had been defeated, and during the celebratory gathering that took place afterward, Barry ran back in time to save his parents.
Caitlin never wanted her powers.
Flashpoint, Barry had called it. The alternate timeline where his parents were alive. A timeline where Wally was a speedster known as Kid Flash and worked with Iris to fight metahumans, where Joe was a drunkard and estranged from Iris and Wally, where Iris hadn't seen Barry since elementary school, where Cisco was a billionaire and owner of Ramon Industries… where Caitlin herself was a pediatric opthamologist with no signs of being a metahuman.
Caitlin never wanted her powers.
Flashpoint had consequences. All changes to the timeline did. Cisco's brother Dante was killed in a car crash. Joe and Iris were still fighting about Francine. Diggle had a son instead of a daughter. No one knew what had changed, except until Barry told them. Deep down though, Caitlin knew. Oh how she knew.
Caitlin never wanted her powers.
It was Barry's fault she had them. It was all Barry's fault. And yet, she couldn't bring herself to hate him or hold a grudge about them like Cisco did about Dante's death.
Caitlin never wanted her powers, but she was stuck with them as much as they were stuck with her. She knew that Killer Frost was inside her, lurking waiting for her moment to emerge from the depths. So she did what she had to do it.
Caitlin Snow didn't have powers.
Of course she didn't.
Why would she?
