Marian Cross was sitting on the side of the bed his apprentice was sleeping on playing with the soft white locks. He had never thought he will one day willingly take care of a child, but he had been pulled in by the boy's innocence and childlike behaviour. It had annoyed him at first to no end, but little by little he had gotten accustomed then after that he came to cherish it. A month or two after he had pulled the boy out of the catatonic state he had been in, the General had realized he had come to love the boy as a son so he had adopted him officially. He could still recall the face he made when he told him. He was shocked at first, then it morphed into a teary warm smile and he found his arms full of his new son as he clung to him like a life line while crying his shirt full. It felt so rewarding to have his son in his arms knowing that the boy won't up and leave, and that the Order couldn't take him away from him for they were bound by law that a child cannot be taken from their parents if they do not give them up. He knew about how the other Generals thought of their apprentices ads their children especially that senile Tiedoll, but none of them had the guts and determination to adopt them so they only thought of them as such, but wouldn't really go to the end of the world for they had not taken them in as their children on paper too. Allen had been the first he took in to train but he had taken the boy in so fast that even if someone at the Order had realized he had a pupil they wouldn't be able to separate them.
Allen Cross woke up to his father playing with his hair. He had grown used to having a caring adult in his life nonstop. Someone he could turn to and count on no matter what. His adoptive father had warned him about avoiding the exorcists and finders for they would try to take him back to the Order. "Dad." he called softly prompting his father to turn to him. "How long had I been asleep?"
"Just a couple of hours." answered the General with a smile on his face. "Are you hungry?"
"Yes." answered the teen while rubbing his eyes with his fist. The smile directed at him grew brighter at the cute act and the man pulled him up from the bed. Making sure his son was standing on steady legs before directing him towards the bathroom.
"Go, wash your face to wake yourself up while I go and order us something to eat." The teen nodded and went to the bathroom without further ado. The red haired man walked out of the room and down the stairs.
Allen pulled his gloves off and put them in his pockets before washing his face and hands. After that he went back to the room pulling his white gloves back on. He was just about to sit down on the bed when his left eye changed detecting Akumas nearby. He was scared because it wasn't a couple of enemies no it was dozens of killing machines at least. It was overwhelming him so much that he had to shut his eye and cover it with his right hand. His eye sadly saw through it and it hurt so much that his head began to hurt. The pain in his head built up to a migraine which sent him crashing to the ground holding his eye and head in his hands. As the ache in his head grew to ungodly strengths he faintly heard the noise of wooden beams breaking. He had no time to look up before the ceiling caved in and fell on top of him. Luckily his innocence had no trouble activating on its own and protecting him from being fatally injured. Had it not been for it he would have died for sure.
The red haired General was on the ground level of the inn they were in ordering food for themselves when he heard the screams and shots outside. He ran out thinking it must be only a couple of pesky Akumas wreaking havoc, but he had been wrong oh how wrong he was there was a blanket of Akumas in the skies shooting projectiles towards the town killing everyone in it without mercy. The one eyed man turned back towards the inn to get his son but before he could take a step towards it the enemy decided to blow it up by shooting it to the ground with everyone in it getting killed. He watched shocked as the building crumbled to the ground with his son still inside their room. Soon that paralyzing shock gave way to burning rage. He called his innocence Judgement to fight and began taking out the killing machines left and right without any care about anything or anyone. The enemies blended together for him and his feelings fuelled his pistol to be even more brutal in its bullets' strengths which made the Akumas blow up in a sower of blood coating the man from head to toe.
After the fight had ended he went back to the inn to shovel his son's body out from the rubble so he can burry him after he had apologized to him and hugged him one last time. He had never thought he will love the boy so much, but after having him in his life for a couple of months he had come to cherish the boy. When he got to the inn he saw Tiedoll and his apprentices. They were digging something out. Upon closer inspection his lone eye widened as his son was uncovered. The boy was still alive and breathing. As soon as it came the relief fled from his body as he realized his son could be taken from him if he does not step in and get both of them away from here. He had always been careful not to reveal anything to anyone about the depth of his abilities so right now he had the upper hand if it comes down to a fight.
The red haired General concentrated his magic under the three men's feet then blasted them away from his son and into the next street. Making sure they wouldn't be appearing anytime soon he ran over to his son and gently scooped his battered body into his arms then without further ado he left the way he came.
The tall man ran through the town so fast no one could have been able to match his speed. He knew what the other Generals would have told him if they had seen him right now. They would call him paranoid, but that isn't true, he's not paranoid, he just sees trough the Vatican people, who tried to tie him down to be a mindless chess piece in their game against the Earl like the other Exorcists. He does not want that and he will not let them do that to his son for sure!
Allen Cross was swimming in pain from his earlier head ache so much that he was not sure if he had been hurt or not. He knew his eyes are open, but he couldn't comprehend anything he saw for some time so when his sight began to clear to see his father above him his body relaxed with a sigh from him. The teen hide his face in his dad's neck under the long wild tresses of red hair.
Marian had felt the muscles of his son relax while he let out a sigh then he felt the face of his son taking up its preferred residence while on the way. Smiling softly he pulled the body closer to his chest without increasing the strength of the hold to an unbearable level.
The pair got to the train station they had arrived on not even a full day ago and after they purchased their tickets through a contact they were on their way to another location.
Kanda Yuu was angry no scratch that he was furious. He had no idea how it happened, but somehow they had been blasted away from the only survivor and when they got back there was no sign of the teenager they had dug out just a minute or so ago. He was about to rant and rave for who knows how long when Marie opened his mouth.
"Someone had been here after we were blasted away."
The samurai turned to him. "Explain!" demanded the navy haired Exorcist.
"The person who blasted us away had come here and took the boy then he ran in that direction." said the blind man pointing towards a shadowed street.
"Lead the way." was all the Japanese male said.
The trio followed Marie's exceptional hearing abilities until they got to a train station. There they split up and began asking after the boy it took them a solid hour to find someone, who could help because apparently he had not walked a step since they found him instead he had been carried by someone. When they asked for a description the young lady became thoughtful. "He had long red hair. A green eye." there she paused for a long moment then upon a closer look at the General's attire she suddenly happily exclaimed while pointing at Tiedoll. "And a jacket like yours."
The General was shocked. He only knows one Exorcist who fits this kind of description and that man had been so elusive for years now that he had never thought he will see him ever again. He had no idea why the other General had a boy with him, but he couldn't let him disappear again after they had found him. Right now there was no way he can let him fall off the map again until the danger of the Noah had not passed so he asked very nicely. "Which train did they take?"
The lady thought again. "I don't know where it was headed, but I know when it departed. It left just twenty minutes ago from the second trail."
"Thank you Ma'am." bowed the painter. "You helped us a lot." with that he turned away and went up to the ticket both for some more questioning. "Excuse me Mister."
"What can I help you with?"
"My friend and I planned a vacation together for our families, but we have been late and the train had already left. I don't remember where it was headed. Could you please help me figure it out?"
"Yes. When did it leave?"
"Twenty minutes ago."
"Which rail did it use?"
"The second."
"That train is headed towards Mooredocks. Would you like me to get you tickets for the next train?"
"That would be great thank you. We need three tickets." The worker got him the tickets then he went back to his pupils. "We're going after them. They are headed towards Mooredocks." The usually jovial General's tone of voice left no room for argument.
Somewhere on a train Marian Cross was cuddling his son to reassure himself that he was still here, he was still alive and well … well as much as one could be after having a building fall on you. He had looked him over and felt a bone deep relief when he realized that the boy's innocence had activated long enough to block the falling roof and thus saving his life. The man did not watch the landscape passing by, he was much more enamoured with gazing at his son. The bruised, battered body of the teen had been wrapped in gauze on the train. He had gotten a good collection of cuts which needed cleaning and dressing.
Allen woke up with a slight headache which meant he felt the bruises and cuts covering his body. He felt the cushion he laid on move rhythmically lulling and jarring him at the same time. Opening his grey eyes he looked around. There was a cushioned bench on the other side of the cubicle he had found himself in, a big window above his head and a door between the benches by his feet. He was alone right now, but he was sure it hadn't been like that for long. Pushing himself up into a sitting position he waited for his dad to come back. He was hungry and tired even though he had been asleep not too long ago.
A good ten minutes after he woke up the door to the cubic slid open and his father walked in. "Dad!" exclaimed the boy jumping up and running into the man and wrapping his arms around his torso. Then regretted moving so fast when his head began to swim in dizziness.
"Hey Squirt. I see you feel better." rumbled the deep voice of his father as he was lifted into the arms of his only parent. "I'm sorry I haven't been there with you. Please don't scare me like that ever again." pleaded the red haired man with his arms wound around the white haired boy's body.
