Kaminari was short-circuiting, unable to understand the academic jargon flowing from his tutor's mouth. Ashido, on the other side of the couch, was also having a hard time concentrating, preferring to doodle adorable aliens in the margins of her textbook. Yaoyorozu sat in between them, trying to get them to pay attention to the lesson.
"Guys, we have a big test on Monday," Yaoyorozu reminded them.
"But it's so hard," Kaminari and Ashido whined.
"Fine," Yaoyorozu sighed. "Let's take a tea break."
"Yay!"
Yaoyorozu leaned forward, trying to get a better look down below. "Midoriya-kun, could you let us down?"
Underneath the couch was their green-haired classmate, lifting the piece of furniture with his enhanced strength. The boy was muttering, "Where is it?" over and over again as he scanned the hardwood floors. Exhaling heavily, he slowly lowered the sofa so that Yaoyorozu could get down.
"Maybe it's in the kitchen," Midoriya mumbled as he followed after the girl.
"Still can't find it?" Yaoyorozu asked.
Midoriya rubbed at his chin, trying to retrace his steps throughout the day, so he wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying. They stepped into the kitchen where Satou was getting ingredients for a cake. As their resident baker went to get a carton of milk from the fridge, Midoriya preemptively apologized before reaching in the crevice between the wall and the appliance and pulling it out.
"Where is it?"
Satou took a few steps back along with the fridge, kicking the door closed before glancing over at Yaoyorozu. "He still can't find it?"
She giggled a little, shaking her head. "I guess not."
"Maybe it's upstairs?" Midoriya muttered, absentmindedly leaving the kitchen after pushing the fridge back into place. "I already checked my room."
After classes, Midoriya had gone to Tokoyami's room for scary stories. It was not the bird-man's idea nor did he want any of them there but he didn't have it in him to push them out. Perhaps what Midoriya was looking for had gotten lost in the massive labyrinth of random trinkets in the shorter boy's room.
Stepping out of the elevator, Midoriya saw Tokoyami and Shouji talking right outside the door. They had started training together because the former worried about his physical capabilities after having trouble against the Ectoplasm clones. Without a word, Midoriya walked over, grabbed Shouji by the hips and lifted their massive classmate up into the air so that he could walk around and into the room. The pair continued casually conversing, completely unperturbed.
While inside the really dark room, Midoriya turned on the flashlight on his phone to actually see. With his one free hand, he picked up the ornate throne. Nothing. So then he went to lift the sword and shield but still nothing. Maybe it was underneath the bed. So he got down on his knees and pulled it up but could only find a keychain and an old assignment.
"Sorry," said Midoriya.
As he was leaving, he picked up Shouji once more. The other boy was definitely the heaviest person in the entire class, weighing in at over ninety-five kilograms. But it was like getting a cardboard box out of the way. Before he could leave them be though, Tokoyami stopped him so he paused, still holding the six-armed teenager up in the air.
"You said it was on your bag, right?" inquired Tokoyami. "Didn't you accidentally switch bags with Kirishima today?"
"Oh yeah! Thanks!"
Right after apologizing to Shouji, he went up two floors. He entered Kirishima's room where the redhead and Ojiro were practicing some punches with the sandbag hanging in his room. They were trying their best to be quiet, paying more attention to their form rather than offensive ability since the last time they had gone all out, Bakugou yelled at them.
"How's my stance?" asked Kirishima.
"Could be wider," Ojiro replied.
Midoriya sat on his haunches, squeezing his fingers underneath the bed, slowly lifting it off the floor and looking under. Just hair and dust. Midoriya's nose twitched twice before he let out a loud sneeze. The other two blessed him before returning to training.
"Where is it?"
Kirishima looked over. "I went into Bakugou's room before I realized I had your bag."
"Kacchan's room?"
Ojiro didn't like the sound of this. "He'll be furious if we wake him."
"Then we won't wake him," Kirishima grinned.
They snuck in by channeling their inner Hagakure, listening to the light snoring of the ash blond who was undeniably fast asleep. Ojiro stayed outside, not wanting to die. The other two started looking in any place that could hide what Midoriya lost. With finesse, Midoriya was able to pick up Bakugou's bed with him in it. He was trying his best not to tilt it one way or another as Kirishima scoured the area below.
Unfortunately, they still turned up empty-handed. So Midoriya gently lowered the bed before leaving with a heavy sigh. What else did he do that day?
He already checked Iida's bookshelves, pulling out the spines before alphabetizing it all over again while their class rep was going over his English flashcards. He searched through the number of instruments in Jirou's room while she was learning the notes to a new song she liked. He even disassembled Aoyama's disco ball while he was yelling at some chef on Chopped for making a vinaigrette in the last ten seconds.
"Deku-kun!" Uraraka called from downstairs. "I found it!"
Midoriya was searching the entrance of the elevator on the ground floor when he was called. He ran over, nearly tripping and falling flat on his face as he made it into the lounge. Uraraka stood there with a big smile on her face. She excitedly placed it into his waiting hands and he held it close to chest in sweet relief, thanking her over and over again.
Tsuyu stepped up beside her. "It was under the rug on the third floor, ribbit."
The others that were still in the common area gathered around, wondering what it was that their classmate even lost. Hagakure thought it was an All Might action figure. Todoroki said that didn't make much sense and it was more likely an All Might keychain. Sero suggested the limited edition All Might strap that was lost the week before. Koda thought it might be an All Might pin since those easily came off if they weren't of high quality.
Midoriya drooped a little. "Am I just an All Might otaku to you guys?"
Ashido let her arms hang over the backside of the couch. "Then what is it?"
Midoriya held up a little red omamori good luck charm. "It's from my mom. She gave it to me on the day I moved into the dorms." He smiled fondly at the memory of her holding back tears as she helped him pack, reminding him to eat three square meals, to call as often as possible, and to work hard to be the best hero he could be. "That's why it was so important that I got it back again."
Kirishima patted his friend's shoulder with a broad smile. "Sounds like you have a really manly mom, Midoriya."
"Eh? Manly?" Midoriya blinked.
Just then, an ear-piercing slam came from upstairs. It sounded more like a bomb had gone off inside the dormitory, shaking the entire building. "Whoever entered my room and moved my bed one centimeter, I'll kill you!"
Midoriya and Kirishima shared a wide-eyed look. "Uh-oh."
