"So, what can I help you with?"
"Well, I have a phobia with anything associated with the color red."
"And why do you think you have this aversion to red things?"
"I was helping my sister, Lynn, playtest an idea of hers. A decathlon…she wanted my help to test the concept out and make sure it was safe."
"Right, go on…"
"Anyways, I think her hyper competitiveness got the best of her once again and she didn't realize how much damage she actually did to me. She managed to hospitalize me again!"
"Again? This has happened before?"
"Many times, in fact. She has no restraint when it comes to her drive to win! The last thing I remember was lying in a pool of my blood, slowly exsanguinating to death. I think this is the reason why I developed this fear, because this was the closest she's come to ending my life."
"Oh my…"
"It doesn't help that her color motif is red, so I could be associating the color with all the negative aspects of my sister's personality."
"But red isn't a bad color."
"Are you sure? Because it's associated with violence, war, rage and anger. How is that good?"
"While it is associated with anger, it is that way because people associated with the color red have strong emotions and are energetic."
"The more we talk about this, I'm starting to think my sisters have their color motifs for a reason."
"What would yours be?"
"Isn't it obvious? Orange, of course!"
"Orange is associated mostly with happiness and creativity."
"What a coincidence, my ideal career is to be a comic book designer."
"Interesting. But back to your fear…if it is indeed linked to your sister's roughhousing, do you think if she were nicer to you, the feeling would gradually go away?"
"Well, my phobia did gradually wane but I only stopped fearing my sister. The fear of red things in general still stood."
"And what about Lynn?"
"Oh, she's in prison…because of me."
"What for?"
"She beat the crap out of someone trying to torment me. She was incarcerated, even if he totally deserved it. Even though my tormentor got life in prison for his crimes, Lynn got 12 years for attacking him, even though all she was trying to do was prevent him from going to my house and torturing me further. Granted, he'd have to go through my 9 other sisters and he'd get destroyed before even coming close to me, Lynn was there to make sure that there'd be no chance of him escaping her to torment me."
"Why do you think that is?"
"Because the court follows the "accidental murder is still murder" fallacy that Japan has. That, and there's no such thing as "self defense by proxy." If it was me defending myself from him, then that would be considered self-defense. But because I fainted from seeing blood, having kokkinophobia has an almost 100% chance of being packed with hemophobia, you see, I can't defend myself. But since Lynn is the one attacking him, and his victim was me, the self-defense claim falls apart."
"Do you feel it's all your fault?"
"I'd be lying if I said otherwise. She lost 12 years of her life because she had to defend a loser like me. If she manages to survive that hellhole, I wouldn't be able to see her until she's 25 years old! And I don't think the warden will offer her parole, since "self defense by proxy" doesn't exist. As far as they're concerned, it's a case of two people using aggravated assault on each other."
"Ok, now I'm going to show you pictures of some red things to see if you still have kokkinophobia, are you ready?"
"Yes."
A few moments later…
"Well, it seems to me you don't have anymore adverse reactions to red things, which brings us to the conclusion that this psychotherapy session has completely alleviated your phobia."
"Thanks for everything Mrs. Delisle!"
"No problem, Lincoln."
"Wait a minute, your name sounds familiar. Isn't there a famous voice actress with that name?"
"Really? I didn't know about that. And you think that this actress and I are the same person?"
"I wouldn't go that far but having the same name does make me suspicious."
"She does sound like a multifaceted and multitalented person, because I glanced at her acting credits and there are a lot of characters she voiced that would make a lot of children happy. But I digress, as far as I can see, you're cured, Lincoln."
Lincoln leaves the psychotherapist's office and rejoins his family, who take him back home.
"So Linky, how'd it go?"
"Great, Lola. My fear of red things is completely gone! It's about time, because it was hard to find alternatives to pizza and dad's Lynn-sagna!"
"We're just glad you're back to your old self again."
"I still can't help but wonder…"
"Stop, Lincoln. Lynn chose to make that sacrifice for you to protect you. It's not your fault."
"I still feel guilty."
"Well, don't worry. You'll get to catch up with her when you're 23. In the meantime, can you help me train for my pageants?"
"Sure, anything for you, grand princess."
Lincoln and Lola go into the twins' room for their practice. The scene irises out on this touching sibling moment.
Author's Note: Even though it's not mentioned because it's such a minor detail, I'm going to say it anyway. Now that Lincoln's kokkinophobia is cured, Lana is back to wearing her signature red cap. We can now take solace in the fact that Lana's outfit is, once again, complete.
