Hello. This is basically the story of the night Evie was born, and her mother's feelings about having a child. I hope you enjoy this short one shot!

The screams of the Evil Queen rocked the Isle of the Lost as her ally (villains don't have friends), Cruella, helped her hobble into the home of Mother Gothel. The woman was laid down on a cot in the front room.
On the Isle of the Lost, there were no doctors. There was no medical equipment. Mother Gothel was the closest thing they had to a nurse, considering she'd watched over the health of Rapunzel for eighteen years. She'd picked up a few things while taking care of the blonde princess. Most of the time, villains took their kids to her when they were sick or hurt, but adults occasionally visited her when they were really sick or in dire situations. Like going into labor.
Evil Queen clung to her protruding belly, screeching as waves of pain crashed over her. She knew giving birth hurt like heck, but this amount of pain seemed over the top. She could never have prepared herself for this, and the crippling agony yelled at her: Something was wrong.
Mother Gothel rushed into the run with towels, and she propped the pregnant woman's legs up, arranging them into the proper formation a doctor would use with a woman in labor.
"Grimhilde!" Mother Gothel shouted. "You need to push."
"Something's wrong!" the woman insisted as she panted, crying out in pain.
"We won't know what's wrong until we get the baby out," Mother Gothel pointed out. "So you need to push!"
The woman nodded before howling as she pushed with all her might, and the agony became unbearable. She felt like she was dying, and she was petrified that that might actually be the case. Her vision started to go black.
The last thing she heard before she slipped into the sea of black she was terrified of was Mother Gothel cheering. "It's a girl!"
When Evil Queen came around, she was still in pain, but it had decreased an enormous amount, and she was so thankful for that. Words couldn't even describe her gratitude as she woke up to an aching body and not a tsunami of pain.
"What?" she rasped, exhausted and weak and drained from the painful child birth she'd just experienced. "What happened?"
Someone squeezed her hand, and she glanced up to see Cruella smiling softly down at her from the chair she was sitting in at the woman's bed side.
"Hello, Grimhilde," Cruella said. "How are you feeling?"
"Tired. Weak," the woman answered. "What happened to me?"
Cruella shrugged. "Nothing happened to you. It was just… a very painful child birth for you."
The woman's eyes widened. "Wh-What about my baby? Are they all right?"
Cruella laughed. "You gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl. She's perfectly fine. You're both fine, and according to Mother Gothel… she believes that you'll both stay that way."
Evil Queen sobbed in relief. "She's okay… can I see her?"
Cruella nodded. "Of course."
The fur-lover reached over, and she lifted a baby wrapped in a dark blue blanket out of a nearby box, and the woman rested the baby in her mother's arms.
Evil Queen gazed down at her baby girl in amazement.
The baby was tiny, fitting perfectly into the space between her mother's chest and the woman's arms as they wrapped around her. The baby whined and shifted in her mother's arms, allowing Evil Queen to get a good glimpse of her daughter's face.
She was pale, much like her mother, and a tuft of black hair rested on her head with a few pale blue highlights. The highlights would undoubtedly get darker and more noticeable with age. The baby blinked open her eyes, and Evil Queen smiled upon seeing the chocolate brown of her daughter's eyes.
She was beautiful.
"She's so small," the new mother marveled.
The Evil Queen's heart, which previously held no room for anything except herself, began to grow until it made room for the baby in her arms.
For the first time in her entire life, Grimhilde cared for someone other than herself.
It was a truly amazing feeling.
Cruella sighed as she watched her ally's eyes fill with love and affection as some of her selfishness faded, and she knew that she would do anything to protect the little girl in her arms. Grimhilde looked so happy.
Cruella wanted a child, and she hoped that one day, she would have one and look just as happy as Grimhilde when she held him or her in her arms. She imagined that the first time she held her own baby, she'd be filled with a wonderful feeling…
She'd have to wait a little longer to feel that, though (Carlos won't be born for another two years). For now, she'd just have to hang onto the memory of Evil Queen's expression, so full of love, when she first laid her eyes on her baby girl.
"What are you going to name her?" Cruella asked.
Evil Queen smiled because she knew exactly what she wanted to name her baby. To give her daughter a name as beautiful as the girl herself.
"Evelyn," she told Cruella. "That'll be her name, but I think I'll call her Evie for short."
A name as beautiful as the girl who owned it...
This was before Cruella really went off the deep end, so she still has some compassion, unlike in the future when she has no compassion, not even for Carlos.
