From the moment Marinette woke up she felt guilt, and as soon as her foot touched the cobble-stoned path outside the bakery her stomach began to fill with dread.

Even the thought of apologizing to Adrien made her feel terrified. But she couldn't wimp out on this, if she did, she doubted she would be able to sleep tonight. She owed this to him.

Once at school she felt her limbs become stiff with anxiety, every corner she turned she expected him to be there.

She got through biology and maths without taking down a single note, her brain a jumbled nervous mess. Sneaking the occasional nervous glance down to Adrien.

What would she even say? She needed to apologize for her actions, of course. But there was still this horrible feeling in her stomach that told her he wasn't telling the truth. She didn't want to press him on it anymore, not when she had thought to accuse his dad. She still felt horrible over that.

And finally, after managing to avoid it all day, lunch came and there he was. At his locker chatting with Nino like nothing had happened.

Drawing on the Ladybug in her, she drew up all the courage she could muster and slowly walked towards him.

Still in deep conversation, he hadn't heard her and jumped a little when she tapped him on the shoulder. He spun around to face her, surprise crossing his perfect features as he saw her.

Her mouth was suddenly dry, she swallowed before letting out a very useless "uhm"

She glanced anxiously at Nino who was trying very hard to look like he wasn't hanging off their every word.

"Can I talk to you?" She asked and then added, "alone."

Adrien's eyes darted to Nino quickly who shrugged, before Adrien replied with, "Uh yeah, sure."

Nino gave Adrien a single clap on the back in goodbye and wandered off, no doubt to find Alya.

"So…" He began, bringing a hand up to nervously scratch the back of his neck, "what did you want to talk about?"

"I just wanted to apologize." She began

"Honestly Marinette, it's fine."

She opened her mouth to say more but he held up a hand,

"I'm really embarrassed by the whole thing and just want to forget about it."

"Okay… I just want you to know that I crossed a line and I'm sorry."

"And I want you to know that it's fine, I'm over it."

But she noticed the way he had closed off, his face losing its usual warmth.

"Well, I'm sorry we made you feel that way over parkour."

His gaze snapped up to her, "I thought you didn't believe me?"

"I don't," She quipped, sending him a small smile before walking away back to her own locker.

Well, Adrien thought, that would have to change.
