She was just so SMILEY. She brightened the the day of whomever she smiled at. But day by day, I pieced it together. Day One: Avoided talking to her friends. Day Two: Avoided people altogether. Day Three: Ignored everybody.
Day Four: Complete isolation.
Day Five: Late for class every day for the next month.
By the time I had the confidence to confront her she wasn't in school. I panicked for the entire time she wasn' t present. She arrived by third period, looking a mess. I cornered her after class. "U-Uh... Hi, Adrien?" she stuttered, looking surprised. "Pull back your sleeves."
"NO! I-I mean, WHY?"
"Pull them back." She tried to escape, but I had her cornered. "Why are you doing this?!" She demanded.
"Pull. Them. Back."
"NO!"
"Marinette. Please."
Tears poured down her face. She pulled them back, revealing a crisscross of cuts on her forearms. I gaped in horror. "I-I thought no one cared. I th-thought you guys f-forgot me." she sobbed. "Marinette-"
"I was fine until you started talking to HER!" She pointed to Lila, a girl I used to date.
"Y-You ignored me... Y-you forgot me." she cried. I hugged her. Her tears soaked my shoulder with salt water. "I-I'm here, Marinette. I'm here."
