The storm raged outside, thunder booming and lightning crackling. A flash illuminated her room, and she dove under her covers in fright, clutching Slidey the turtle harder.

She came to a decision. Daddy would make things better and so would Mummy. They always had before, so why not now too?

She inched out into the hallway, her door creaking ominuously. The hallway's shadows were long and scary, and her parent's door seemed farther from hers than ever. Lightning illuminated the hallway again and showed her parent's door partly open. A second later thunder boomed and she gave a little squeak of fright and scurried into their room. Lightning flashed again and she saw her Daddy on this side of the bed lying facing away from her. She scrambled on the bed and nestled closely to her father.

She peered over his shoulder at his face.

"Daddy," she whispered. He groaned. "Daddy!" she whispered again.

His eyelids fluttered and he looked up to see her face inches from his own. "'Lene?" he murmured drowsily.

"Daddy I'm scared."

He smiled gently and rolled over to her. He brushed some hair from her face. "Why are you scared?"

"The thunder is loud."

He smiled and his eyes softened. "Come here."

She laid down next to him and felt instantly safer in his arms. "Can I sleep with you?"

"Of course you can. Do you want to sleep with Mummy too?"

By now Tonks was awake. "At least sleep in between us, I don't want you to fall off the bed when Daddy pushes you on accident."

Remus glared indignantly. "Well I never."

Selene giggled and climbed over Daddy to snuggle between him and Mummy. Thunder growled and she squeaked in fright. Mummy pulled her close.
"It's okay Selene. You're safe."

Daddy moved in from the other side and kissed her forehead. "We have you. Don't worry."

She gave a contented sigh and settled in between her parents and fell asleep.

Remus smiled as he gazed down at his daughter. "Goodnight, Selene."
