Clarke

The smile he was giving her was genuine and soft. He was not prepared, he shouldn't have been here. The ground wasn't the place for him.

"Wells. Why are you here?" She knew but she needed to hear it again. Maybe something was different.

"I overheard my dad. They were sending the Skybox to Earth. I came for you. I got myself arrested. I couldn't let you do this alone."

"That's more than anyone has done for me. Except for my dad. Thank you."

"Clarke, about your dad. I'm sorry I told my dad and got him floated. I'm so sorry Clarke."

A sense of calm erupted inside of her as she looked at her friend, really looked at him since he died. His nose flared and his left eyebrow was up just a bit. He was lying to her.

"You're lying. I know you too well. Wells. . . I know the truth. I know it was my mom that told Jaha. You don't need to cover for her. . . Not anymore. But, they floated him, Wells, and I can't ever forget that." Looking him in those dark, desperate eyes, Clarke was fairly sure he was willing to understand, even if he didn't yet.

"Clarke, how'd you find out?!"

"It doesn't matter. Not really."

Finn is suddenly in front of her, floating. Spacewalker, she thinks incongruously. "So, you're the traitor who's been in solitary for more than a year -"

Clarke's voice was flat. "And you're Reyes' boyfriend."

Finn looked as if he'd been slapped (with the cold truth), but the blonde continued before he could retort. "Now get back into that harness before someone gets to tell her you died when we hit atmosphere."

Her voice was sharper now as movement caught her eye. "And take the others along with you. Back to your seats!" Two boys were in the process of unstrapping themselves to follow after Finn.

Sucking in a breath in confusion, Finn hesitated, but at her hiss of exasperation, he flailed back into his own seat. He sat there silently, ignoring all the chatter around him. "How do you know Raven?"

"You mean the youngest zero-G mechanic in half a century? My dad was the Chief Engineer before he got floated. He knew her and spoke of her. . . often."

The still floating boys were stunned at the deep voice from the other side of the ship that bellowed at them. "Do you want to die without having seen the ground?! Get back in your seat right now or so help me god I will kill you myself!"

They got back in their seats, as quick as they could. 2 saved. . . 98 more to go. . .
