The Yule Ball after party was just starting to take off. Fred and George Weasley had delivered with an obscene amount of alcohol. Lee Jordan had set up a sound system and had already began taking requests, starting with one from Lavender Brown. Hermione groaned as she recognized the Muggle music blaring through the speakers. Taylor Swift. She rolled her eyes.

Viktor had already had a few firewhiskeys too many and was play fighting with the Durmstrang boys, wrestling and knocking over nearby chairs. Hermione was standing with Neville, Ginny, Cho, Cedric and Harry, ignoring the wrestling and watching the flurry of Beauxbatons girls around their champion. Hermione rolled her eyes again.

"You should take it as a compliment
That I got drunk and made fun of the way you talk
You should think about the consequence
Of your magnetic field being a little too strong…"

Ginny and Hermione had been making disparaging remarks all night about the French witches and their haughty behavior. As the wines flowed, the intelligence of their insults had somewhat diminished, resulting in lazy jibes they laughed at with their fellow Hogwarts students around the room. At one point, Hermione could have sworn she felt a pair of sapphire blue eyes glaring icily over at her. Perhaps she could hear the remarks Ginny and Hermione were making? It didn't matter, Hermione didn't care if she could hear.

"Whisky on ice, Sunset and Vine
You've ruined my life, by not being mine

You're so gorgeous
I can't say anything to your face
'Cause look at your face
And I'm so furious
At you for making me feel this way
But what can I say?
You're gorgeous"

Hermione swallowed another thick mouthful of wine, glaring at Roger Davies as he diligently collected two glasses of wine for him and his date. He made his way through the crowd of Ravenclaws and Beauxbatons students, smiling widely as he reached his date and handed her a wine. Hermione didn't know why the Beauxbatons champion had deigned to go with an idiot like Davies. She looked at the high cheekbones and devastating jawline of the blonde witch across the room, watching as she flashed a dazzling smile, their eyes briefly meeting as Fleur Delacour scanned the room with vague interest.

"Ocean blue eyes looking in mine
I feel like I might sink and drown and die"

Hermione laughed weakly at another joke by Ginny, before burying herself in another long swig of wine.
