Happy Reverse Birthday! (Jan. 22)

My tradition of celebrating my birthday, by gifting an update on a fanfic of mine!

Unfortunately, this isn't a full update and I'll be replacing this chapter when I complete the actual chapter.

Normally, I have a full chapter ready, but between college starting YESTERDAY, and trying to get my stuff together, I haven't had the time.

Here's the first 1000 words, or so, on the chapter and I'll be back with another when I can.

As I walked to the gates, I saw my tou-san leaning against the brick entrance.

He turned and smiled, "There's the luckiest son of the world."

I rolled my eyes, "Sure tou-san, how has Monaca been?"

He held his hand to his chest, feigning a wound, "My own son, not even asking how his old man has been?" But then he laughed, "She's been fine, don't worry, but you can ask her once we get to the car, she's just listening to music."

And sure enough the moment we arrived, she was. She sat in the back, just nodding her head to the music in the car.

When the doors unlocked she turned to face us, "Koto-nii-san, hi!"

I couldn't do nothing, so I put my stuff in the front seat and climbed into the back to give her a hug, "how's my princess, behaving for everyone back home?"

"Nee-chan keeps trying to bring Ki-chan out shopping with kaa-san, but then Ki-vhan distracts nee-chan by offering to clean her room."

I shook my head, "Komaru should know that Kirumi is going to do that anyway," I muttered, before smiling. "How's the other lil' ultimates?"

"Jataro-kun made a friend! Oh, and he stopped wearing a mask, but he keeps saying some afoo something," she casually mentions, "And Kotoko-chan smiles super often and plays with me every day!

"I like her the most, but don't tell the others, shhh!" she said with a finger to her lips.

I humored her by mimicking her silence, "okay," I whispered back.

Monaca giggled, we talked for the next half hour as Tou-san drove us back home.

When we got home, I picked up Monaca and helped her into her wheelchair.

As tou-san opened the door, I could hear Kirumi vacuuming my room, and the sounds of breakfast being plated.

I wheeled Monaca into the kitchen to see my Kaa-san putting away her apron, and Komaru setting down the last of the silverware.

"Nii-san, you're back!" Komaru said as she walked over to see me. "You have got to tell me what Hope's Peak is like on the inside!"

I ruffled her hair, "Later, I haven't eaten yet."

Kaa-san just laughed, "Let your nii-san eat, we can talk over breakfast," she turned to me, "I hope you don't mind bacon, eggs, rice, and some toast."

I smiled, "Well... my senpai is the ultimate cook, but nothing beats a true homemade meal."

Tou-san just laughed as he assisted Monaca into her chair at the table. Really the only difference was an inch or two in seating height. "Well, let's dig in while its still hot."

"Itadakimasu."

Finally home, I told them everything from our tour, to the recent project. Everything was going swell until-

"Koto-nii-san has a girlfriend." Monaca sang.

Kaa-san squeeled and Tou-san chuckled, "Oh it's that red haired girl isn't it? The one Komaru said you met at the fashion show?"

"Okaa-san!" I said woth a red face.

"It is! Oh you simply have to invite her over one day!"

I sighed as Tou-san winked, "Come now dear, let the boy have his first relationship, how long have you been dating?"

"Do you want the point where I think we liked each other, the exact moment I asked, or our first date?" I questioned.

Komaru simply said, "Yes."

I rolled my eyes, "I think it was while I was at Dusk, we messaged each other almost non-stop outside of class. I suppose we sorta had a date before I asked her out, because she asked about whether we were together by the end of it."

"And... ?" My mother asked suggestively.

"and I kissed her and led her to her friend's car."

Kaa-san swooned and held her cheek, "My little man is growing up to be such a romantic..."

Kimaru just grinned, "Told you that fashion show would be worth it."

"and need I remind you that I missed most of it?"

"You met your girlfriend, didn't you?"

"You were upset that I missed most of it!"

"But it got you a girlfriend! So it was worth it in hindsight!" Komaru sang, and I had no way to respond.

Kaa-san shook her head with a small upward tug on her lips, "Alright enough talk about your nii-sans love life, lets have breakfast already."

I returned to my room with the girls, Komaru stealing my desk, and Monaca flopped on the bed with Kirumi at her side as I sat on the edge.

"Welcome home, Master."

I twitched, having partially forgotten she was still calling me that. "Hey," I said with a sigh, one day. One day, probably not today, or tomorrow, or maybe the near future. But one day... one day.

I leaned to see Monaca working on that Towa project. "How is your robot coming along, Monaca?"

"Its going super-duper smoothly! We got help from Chi-chan's kaa-san, and she's super-duper-DUPER helpful!"

Oh so that's why she's at Towa.

I smiled, "That's nice, when do you think it will be finished?"

"The projected time is a few weeks. After that it's all about cutting down redundancy and appearance. We already had a functioning machine for the base model prototype, but moving to a humanoid figure is far more challenging."

Times like this I forget she's so young.

"Aww our little imouto is so smart!" Komaru said before hug-attacking Monaca.

"Ah nee-san, my hair!" She laughed playfully.

And then there was every time else.

I turned to Kirumi, "And how have you been, Kirumi?"

"I've been well, has Hopes Peak been satisfactory?" She questioned.

I nodded, "Between every-other day having meals cooked by an Ultimate, having normal friends in strange places, and even having old friends is nice. Apart from how small the actual classes are, its almost no different from a regular school. But its also elevated, seeing that we have to squeeze time for research on our talent."

Komaru tilted her head, ceasing her time with Monaca, "Research? How do you research, Luckiness?"

I shrugged, "They are going to construct Research Labs during and apparently will involve either single rooms dedicated for a student's talent, or a conjoined building."

"So what are you getting?" Monaca sang-asked.

"According to a few friends? Me, my friend, the Gambler, the other Lucky Student, and possibly a few others, will have a Casino, based more around luck or chance games, and instead of gambling with money, its with in-school currency for things like furniture or electronics. I haven't checked the student store yet, but according to Chihiro, she got some sweet computer monitors."

"Wow really?" Monaca said in wonder, "What'd she do?"

I thought back for a moment, before remembering that one off conversation we had. "She helped the student council out with something. So probably either as a favor, or they just really needed help."

The three nodded, either just accepting the fact, or completely understanding.

"So... how have you three been? I know its only been two weeks, and even..."

Monaca just smiled, "School has been great! Kotoko-chan opened up so much more, and Nagisa-kun is trying to be super mature. Everyone is having fun now!"

I smiled at that, "That's great," I said as Komaru finally let our imouto down. "And you, Komaru? You weren't able to visit last week..."

"Ugh, projects suck... I know its the middle of the semester, but... so much work..." She whined. "I've been working on my drawings though! I've gotten better, I swear!"

With a roll of my eyes I commented, "Two weeks practice on drawing isn't going to make you that much better imouto."

She pouted angrily and presented her piece.

In all honesty, it was better, at least I could tell this time it was a human... I think.

"So... it's a... person?" I asked.

"It's an elf! Don't you see the pointy ears and the bow?!" She said hastily.

I looked again... nope.

She huffed at my silence, "I'll get better, I swear! And then I shall enter Hope's Peak as the Ultimate Manga Artist!"

"I believe my classmate already falls under, at least part of that as the Ultimate Doujin Writer, I think..."

Komaru began to grasp at straws "Yeah... well, you're one to talk! Everyone knows they pick a new Lucky Student every now and then!"

"Oh so now you agree that it's not my talent," I teased.
