Chapter 7

Naruto lied helplessly on the bed, staring at the ceiling fan in his bedroom. It was almost morning, and he was still lying there, which was unusual for the man. He was always the first one up in the morning, but for some reason, he found it difficult to move his limbs. A teardrop sweat trickled down his forehead, and he blinked his eyes slowly. It had been a long time since he felt this way: hot, fatigued, drained, and muscle aches. Maybe three, or four years ago? All he needed was rest. What that thought he embraced the darkness lingering over him.

Hinata made her way into the parlor and was surprised to discover Naruto was not in his usual spot. "Konohamaru," She called out when she noticed a shadow walked past the door. The young boy stopped in his tracks and turned around to Hinata, with his head down. "Do you know if Naruto came down yet?"

"I don't know." He mumbled. "I'll tend to the garden now."

"Oh, what about breakfast?" Hinata smiled at him. "Breakfast is important. Let me-

"I don't want it." His voice came out in a whisper.

Hinata tilted her head to the side and was confused by the boy's demeanor. "Are you okay, Konohamaru?" She reached out to him, and he stared sharply at her.

"Don't touch me!" Konohamaru balled his fist and chewed the bottom of his lips.

Hinata jumped by his reaction. "Oh, I'm sorry." Her eyes quickly darted to the large purple vase by the front entrance of the door. "I'll go check on him." She turned her back on him and climbed the stairs to check on Naruto.

Konohamaru stood there with his arms dangling to his side. He hadn't meant to lash out that way towards her. He quickly stepped outside and shielded his eyes from the sun. "Hey, you!" A squeaky voice called out to him. His eyes squinted as he gazed at the two figures that were quickly approaching him.

Hinata climbed up the stairs slowly, and with each stepped the floorboards creaked. Once she stood in front of the dark wooden door, she knocked silently and waited for a response. After a while, she called out to him but there was no answer. "Naruto, sir." She knocked on the door, but still there no response. The lump in her throat thickened and she opened the room door slowly and discreetly.

She peeped her head inside and saw a lump lying on the bed. The floorboard creaked under her weight, and Hinata stood beside his bedside. "Naruto, sir. Are you okay?"

No response. A sudden wave of panic washed over here when she heard somebody groan from underneath the blanket. Hinata pulled the blanket off slowly, and she was shocked to discover Naruto in such a sickly state. His tan skin was a sickly pale color, and his hair laid lifeless on his forehead. Hinata placed her hand on his forehead and quickly pulled it back. He was drawing a fever, and the sweat ran down his face.

"Naruto," She said softly.

Hinata stood in the kitchen and stared out the window, watching Konohamaru who seemed to be lost. She was still shocked by what took place this morning, and it made her feel sad. The boy had been acting strange lately, and she wasn't sure if it was because of the prank he pulled or something else. "He is at that age," Hinata mumbled.

The house was eerily quiet, and Hinata noticed how lonesome it felt. Picturing Naruto being here all by himself made her uncomfortable. "To think he had to stay here all by himself." She gripped the wooden bucket and walked upstairs. Tsunade wasn't in town, and she couldn't find another doctor to tend to him. "Naruto." She called out to him. Her eyes gazed at the boy who was sweating profusely and trying to take little breaths here and there. "He almost looks innocent like this." She smiled, solemnly. His body shivered slightly when she placed a cold rag on his forehead.

She waited there for a while and watched him just to make sure he was okay. Chores still needed to be done, and lunchtime was soon approaching. "Guess I'll have to change my menu." She pulled the blanket to his neck and tucked him. "Looks like you were the who ended up with a cold." A soft sigh escaped her lips, and she quickly giggled when she saw the boy frowning. "Ah, you heard me huh?"

"I would rather it be me than you." His voice was raspy, and it tickled him slightly. "You need to rebuild your immune system, Hinata." He stared at the corner of his eyes. "I read in an article that oranges are good for you when you're sick."

Hinata hovered over him and tried to pin him down. "Naruto, you shouldn't get up. You're still sick!" His body was too weak to resist, and he laid back down. "Doctor Tsunade is out, and there are no other doctors here for some reason. Please take it easy." Naruto felt dizzy and the room started to spin. "Let me prepare you some soup and I'll try to find you some oranges. Please stay here." She quickly ran out of the room.

Naruto held his head as he gazed at the door, and a quick sneeze left his nose.

Hinata sat there, quietly, observing the young man who had refused her help in feeding him. His arms trembled as he raised the liquid-filled spoon to his mouth. He sighed. "Hinata, you don't need to be here with me," Naruto said in a rusty tone. "I am more than cap-," He coughed suddenly, and she quickly handed him the glass of water by his side. "Thank you." He said, once gulping down the water, "but as I was saying. I am more than capable of taking care of myself. Why don't you make yourself useful and do some cleaning?"

"Yes, sir, but I just want to make sure you're feeling better. I don't want to leave your side in fear you may," She glanced down and poked her index finger together.

"In case I what? Croak in my sleep?" His beautiful blue eyes watched the girl nod her head, refusing to look at him. "If I do, so be it." He chuckled.

"Sir! You mustn't say such a thing." She was visibly upset, and Naruto noticed the tears swelling in the corner of her eyes.

"Hinata, I'm just joking around."

She wiped the tears from her eyes, and a frown set in. "I don't want to lose another important person." Naruto was shocked by the sudden confession. "I'm sorry," Hinata mumbled. "I'll get to cleaning now." He watched as the young maid excused herself and closed the door behind her.

His back hit against the bed frame and he watched the ceiling fan spin slowly. He stayed like that for a while, not thinking about anything in particular besides the itchy feeling in his throat.

It was sunny outside, and the fresh air was crisp with a hint of seawater lingering around. Hinata closed her eyes and soaked up the sunrays that shined down on her. There were so many things running through her mind at this very moment, and it included her master's health. Her eyes opened slowly and focused on the white clouds that changed from time to time. "Why must he say such things?" She grumbled to herself. "A lot of people would miss him if he were to pass away at this very moment." Her eyes lingered towards the household, and her shoulders hunched over. The white cloth brushed in front of her and she nearly jumped. Her heart pounded against her chest and she blushed. "Why am I so jumpy?" She said, taking the blankets and sheets from the clothing line.

"It's because you're so scary,"

Hinata swiftly turned around and scolded the young man who was smiling at her wryly. His eyes were dull, and his skin was pale and clammy looking. "Naruto, what are you doing here! You should be on bed rest." She said, approaching him.

Naruto crossed his arms, shakenly. "I'm fine," He cleared his throat. "The chicken noodle soup and orange gave me some energy."

Hinata placed her hand on her hip and gave him a disapproving look. "You should go back, sir," She approached him. "You still look sick and weak to stand."

Naruto placed his hand over his mouth and started coughing. "I'm fine, I'm fine. I don't want to stay coop up in bed all day," He walked slowly and sat down on the little straw chair next to the laundry shack. He was too weak to stand and wouldn't give Hinata the satisfaction of knowing that. "Please continue," He fanned her.

"Naruto!" She whined.

"Hinata!" Naruto mocked her. She pouted, and he couldn't but smile. "Carry on,"

Hinata sighed in frustration. "Stay there!" She commanded and quickly rushed inside the entrance of the kitchen. Naruto tilted his head to the side and waited for Hinata like a lost puppy. He unknowingly wagged his imaginary tail when she came back with a tray of goodies.

There was a peeled orange resting on a small glass plate with gold trim around it, and another plate there was a teacup filled with green tea. "Here," Hinata said holding a spoon filled with a gooey golden substance.

"What is that?" Naruto questioned, eyeing the substances suspiciously.

"It's honey. You've been coughing a lot, and this should help with your sore throat. Open up."

Naruto stared at the spoon and then back at Hinata. "I don't like the taste of honey,"

"Some of the meals I prepare have honey in it," Hinata replied. "Open up." Hinata eyed him down when the boy opened his mouth to refuse. She took it as the opportunity to insert the spoon into his mouth, forcing the honey down his throat. Naruto's eyes widened and he coughed harshly when she took the spoon out. "Don't forget to eat the orange and drink some tea. If you need me, I will be inside here folding some clothes." She said, lifting the basket into the small place.

"He's so stubborn and he never listens," Hinata grumbled to herself while folding the sheet and blankets neatly. Naruto's nose wiggled slightly, and he let out a soft sneeze and then a goo of green slime ran down his nose. "Here," Hinata said, stepping outside to hand him a handkerchief.

Naruto nodded and he wiped his nose harshly and Hinata stared mortified. "Naruto! Wipe it softly!" She shouted at him. "Your nose is delicate, and you don't want any scarring."

"But I-

"Naruto," She tapped her foot impatiently on the grass. "Take your time. Let me know if you need any further assistance."

Naruto watched as she entered the room and he sighed once more. It wasn't too hot outside as the white clouds covered the sun from time to time. It looked much better than yesterday and he continued to gaze at the clouds drifting in the sky.

Hinata sighed softly while she placed the last batch of folded sheets into the basket. Konohamaru had been noticeably quiet she hadn't seen him since this morning. He wasn't in the garden and his room. "He's growing up, Hinata," She spoke to herself. "Maybe he doesn't want me to baby him."

She tucked the basket underneath her arm and stepped outside. Today was much better than before and she hummed softly. It was perfect. As she was about to walk away, Hinata swiftly turned around when she heard somebody faintly snoring. She had almost forgotten Naruto was outside or at least expected the man to go back indoors.

There was something innocent about the sleeping man and she couldn't help but observed him. Hinata walked quietly towards him and stopped down next to him. Her fingertips pressed against the wooden table and she gawked at her master who snoozed away.

"H… Hinata," He muttered out.

Hinata's face turned entirely red, and she quickly shot up. "Is he referring to me?"

Naruto stirred in his sleep, and Hinata listened attentively to what he had to finish saying.

"M…more ramen," Drool left his mouth, and he giggled childishly. Her right eye twitch and a quiet sigh escaped her lips.

"What was I expecting anyway?" She mumbled to herself. "Sir," Hinata said, nudging him on his shoulder. "Let's get you inside."

He continued to snore lightly, and Hinata did something, surprisingly. Her fingers ran through his soft locks, and a small smile graced her face before she pulled her hand back when Naruto's eyes opened.

"Sir, um- you should get back inside. I'm done folding them," She said, lifting the basket up.

"Oh," He stretched out his arms and yawned.

The two walked silently next to one another, and Hinata walked him upstairs to his room. Once he was in bed, he started coughing, and Hinata stayed by his bedside. "Doctor Tsunade is absent and there isn't another doctor here. Are you sure you're going to be okay?" She stared worriedly at Naruto who curled into a ball.

"I'm fine," He replied, shakenly. "I always get like this when I'm sick." He rolled on his back and stared at the ceiling. "I don't want to interrupt your work, Hinata."

"Your health is more important, sir."

"How is Konohamaru? He's been quiet today, huh?"

Hinata nodded. "I haven't seen him since this morning," She muttered, sadly.

Naruto noticed the sadness in her voice, and he turned his head to the side. "What's the matter?"

"He's been acting strange since the incident, and this morning," She chewed the bottom of her lips before sighing in defeat, "he told me not to touch him and didn't want breakfast. Maybe he's at the age since he's growing up."

"I suppose," Naruto said, shifting his gaze to the ceiling. "Give him some time."

"Yes, sir."

The sun went down, and Hinata watched Naruto who had fallen asleep an hour ago. His chest raised and down, and every once in a while he would cough. She got up slowly and left his room.

As she walked downstairs, she saw Konohamaru walking past the stairwell. "Konohamaru," Hinata called out.

He paused and turned around slowly. "Yes?" He lowered his gaze.

"Are you still upset about the incident?" Hinata questioned. "I'm not upset."

"Why did Naruto take me in?" He mumbled out. "Was it because of you?"

"No, it wasn't. It was Naruto's decision. Is everything okay? Please speak to me." She begged.

Konohamaru gazed at her momentarily and saw her eyes wavered slightly. He squeezed his fist tightly and walked away without so much as a word.

Hinata's arms dropped to her side and she stared in shock. This wasn't Konohamaru. Konohamaru would never act this way. The boy was sweet, kind, and gentle. "What happened to him?" She questioned herself.

The sun was slowly rising, and Hinata stared at her brown door in a trance. She broke out into a cold sweep, and her breathing was shallow. Her hair stuck to her forehead and the tears gathered in the corner of her eyes.

Hinata backed in the corner as the flames dance towards her. It made a crackling sound and even lashed out at her.

"Hinata!"

She quickly looked up and saw Naruto looking down at her. He stretched out his arm and waited for her to grab it. "Please. Hurry up!"

She grabbed his arm, and he pulled her up. He gritted his teeth and he yanked her up. Hinata closed her eyes as the cool air grazed her face. She opened them slowly and saw the stars sparkling in the sky. A soft voice called out to her, and she glanced down beneath her. Her eyes widened when she saw Naruto falling in the well, being engulfed by the flames. There was a soft smile plastered on his face, and he mouthed something she couldn't understand.

Hinata's fingers trembled, and she quickly put on the kimono that lied beside her.

She pressed her ear against the door to hear if Naruto was awake.

"What are you doing?"

Hinata turned around, startled, and was surprised to see Konohamaru up so early. He stood at the end of the hall; his eyes narrowed.

"I was checking on him," Hinata whispered.

Konohamaru scoffed before taking his leave.

Naruto was sleeping peacefully when Hinata entered his room. He wasn't sweating like before, but she could tell her was still sick because his cheeks were a red rose color.

The dream she had earlier terrified her, and she stayed by his bedside until he had woken up. What did it mean? Would something bad happen to Naruto because of her? The thought of it rattled her very core, and she held his hand gently, refusing to let her tears fall. She failed, and the tears splattered all over his sheets.

Naruto opened his eyes slightly when he felt someone take a hold of his hand. He turned his head, unaware to Hinata, and saw her crying.

"I'm not dead, Hinata." He grumbled. "What's the matter?"

Hinata didn't know what overcame here and she suddenly embraced him and cried.

"Hinata?" He said, unexpectedly. The girl didn't respond, and she continued to cry on him. Naruto placed his hand on the middle of her back and rubbed it in a circular motion. "It's okay," He said in a soothing tone. "Everything will be fine,"

She shook her head and sobbed. "No, it isn't."

He glanced outside his window and noticed the sun was rising. "Did you have a nightmare?"

"It felt so real, sir." She briefly looked at him.

"What was it about?" He quickly covered his mouth when he felt a cough coming up.

Hinata shook her head. "I don't want to remember it."

Naruto hummed. "It's just a dream, okay Hinata? I promise you everything will be fine." She sniffled softly and sat back on the chair. She would wipe her eyes every so often and keep her head down. Naruto got up and stretched his arms before yawning.

"How are you feeling sir?"

"My throat still hurts, and my muscles ache a little, but I'm okay," Naruto responded.

"I will get Doctor Tsunade for you if she's here."

Naruto shook his head. "There's no need. I'm fine, Hinata."

Hinata's squeezed her eyes shut when Naruto patted her on the top of her head. "I'm going to take a walk. Can you prepare breakfast for me?"

"But sir! Your body still needs time to heal. Please just rest." Hinata said, frantically. "I don't want anything-

"Hinata," Naruto said, smiling. "I'm fine."

Sebastian stared at his wife who was sitting in front of her mirror, adjusting her pearl necklace and clip-ons. The woman stared sharply at the man and arched her eyebrow. "What?"

"Your first plan failed. What the hell are you going to do now?" Sebastian snapped. "The boy is a lot stronger than I imagined." He grumbled under his breath.

"That wasn't my doing," Saya replied.

"What?"

"The cake never made it to him because those ruffians ruined it," Saya said, nonchalant. "We have to be patient, dear husband. The boy is a lot smarter than he looks and I'm afraid he has banned me from seeing him."

"Maybe if you didn't treat him the way you did, it would have been easier huh?" Sebastian snarled.

Saya scoffed in response. "My sister was a fool to marry an outsider who had no relations to the Uzumaki clan and thus gave birth to a half breed. Naruto is a disgrace to the Uzumaki name and I'm glad he took on the name of Namikaze." Saya pinned her hair up. "In due time, we'll get what belongs to him."

"I don't understand what Hinata has to do with it."

Saya quickly turned around and glared at her husband. "The girl's a whore who'll do anything for money to protect her sister," She said, mockingly. "Who else would they suspect to kill Naruto?"

"I heard he has another person there."

"Don't worry," Saya said. "Plans like these take time and I don't need you rushing me." She turned back to face the mirror. "You need to focus on keeping your hands off her. You have a family."

"Don't you worry about what I do," Sebastian muttered out.

Saya watched as he left the bedroom and slammed the door behind him. "I can always kill two birds with one stone." She looked in the mirror and cracked a smile.

Naruto walked towards the front entrance and was surprised to see Konohamaru walking outside the gate. "Konohamaru," He called out. Konohamaru froze, and he turned around slowly. "What are you doing out here so early?"

There were a few school kids who walked past the house and Naruto eyed them.

"Nothing," He mumbled. Another cough slipped out his mouth and Naruto quickly apologize.

"Are you okay, sir?"

"Just a little cough. It's nothing to worry yourself about." Naruto cleared his throat. "Hinata tells me you've been acting strange. What's going on?" Konohamaru glanced at Naruto who had his head tilted to the side. "Are you still upset about the incident? You know she isn't upset with you."

Konohamaru's arms fell to his side and hanged his head. "Why am I here?"

"Excuse me?"

"Why did you accept me here?" Konohamaru glared at Naruto. "Why did you do all of this for me when you were set on sending me off?" His voice was hostile, and Naruto arched his eyebrow.

"I'm not sure I'm understanding you correctly and may I need to remind you who you are speaking to?" He crossed his arms. Konohamaru chewed on his lips and glared at the ground. "Speak," Naruto said, sharply.

"How do you feel about Hinata, sir?" Naruto's face turned red, unintentionally, and he sighed. Now he realized what this was about.

"Kon-

"I know she's been sleeping with you!" He shouted. "That's why you have me here, huh? She slept with you so you would keep me!" Konohamaru yelled. "Everyone in town talks about how she sleeps with her masters and how she's a whore!"

Naruto's eyes widened and he punched Konohamaru on the side of his face. Konohamaru yelped when Naruto picked her him up from his collar. "I am disappointed in you Konohamaru. How dare you fix your mouth to call Hinata such a thing after everything she has done for you? Hinata is not a whore and has worked earnestly for the things received from me. I took you in because you protected her and risk your life for her!" Naruto spat. "That is why you are in my house on my payroll!" He dropped Konohamaru to the floor. "All this time Hinata has been worrying about you because you weren't yourself and come to find out you think she's a whore."

Konohamaru grabbed some of the dirt under him. "Did you call her that?" Konohamaru bit down on his lip. "Answer me! Did you call her that?"

"No."

"I should kick you out for believing something like that. You out of all people should know how easily people spread rumors around." Naruto snarled at him. "What? Did you hear she was fucking me from the old hags in the town square? Or are you upset she isn't fucking you?"

Konohamaru quickly got up and charged at Naruto until he slammed him on the ground. He pinned the boy down and Konohamaru squirmed as he tried to free himself. Guilt came over him, and he sobbed uncontrollably for saying something so vile about Hinata. Emotions overtook him, and he cried loudly.

Hinata saw what happened and quickly rushed outside to Naruto who was getting up. "Naruto!" She said in disbelief. "What did you do to Konohamaru?" She kneeled beside him and hold him tightly. She glared at Naruto who smiled weakly at her.

"Sorry, Hinata. Konohamaru and I were just playing, and I guess I got carried away."

"Naruto! You're physically bigger than him. You should be more careful." She jumped up.

"I know. I know." Hinata turned back to Konohamaru and helped him up. "Hinata, please go inside and finish doing what you were doing. I need to speak to Konohamaru, alone." Naruto said.

"Sir,"

"Hinata," Naruto hummed. "Please."

"Are you going to be okay, Konohamaru?"

He nodded slowly and she puffed out her cheeks before walking back inside. She kept glancing over her shoulder and frowned when Naruto waved at her.

Once she was out of earshot, Naruto stood in front of Konohamaru. "Look, I don't care what you decide to do from here; whether you stay or go. But I do not want you telling Hinata anything about what you said. Do you hear me?"

Naruto knew the girl would not be able to handle it and spiral into a deep depression. He didn't want to see that happen, especially with everything going on in her life.

"Yes, sir," Konohamaru said, rubbing his bruised cheek.

"I'm serious, Konohamaru." Naruto glared coldly at him. "I am still disappointed in you." He pierced deep within. " Let Hinata fix you up." He turned his back on the boy and walked back to the house.

Konohamaru covered his face and let the tears slipped between his fingers.

Hinata turned around and saw Konohamaru standing there, wiping his cheek. She rushed to him and place her hands on his shoulders. "Konohamaru, is everything okay? Please tell me and I'll talk to the master. This doesn't look like he was playing with you. Does he do this often?"

Konohamaru's eyes glistened and he couldn't believe that Hinata would go to such lengths for her. He could. She saved him, and almost lost her job and died for him.

"I'm fine, Hinata. I've just been space out lately because I want to get strong," His eyes lowered, "and Naruto was just showing me a few things." He smiled, faintly. "Guess he did a number one.
He said, pointing to his cheeks. "Think you can patch me up?"

"Still!" She pouted. "Naruto is bigger than you, so he should have been careful." She sighed. "But, are you sure you're okay?" Hinata asked, rubbing the side of her arm. "I feel like you've been ignoring me. Did I do something wrong?"

Konohamaru shook his head. "NO! No- no you didn't. It's just- I wasn't in my right mind at that moment and was feeling a little down. I'm sorry if I lashed out at you. Can you forgive me?"

Hinata nodded. "Let's fix that cheek for you, okay?"

In the dark, Naruto sat on the edge of the bed with his head down. A few days ago, Konohamaru had something terrible about Hinata and it made him angry.

He couldn't understand why everyone would assume Hinata was a whore. His aunt said the same thing, and he had heard rumors, but he had never once seen the girl act out in a vulgar way.

There was the time his Uncle forced a kiss on her, but even then, now that he thought about it, she'd look so innocent about what happened.

Hinata had been here some time, and not once had she done something or pursued him. He covered his face and sighed. Naruto didn't once believe Hinata was the way his aunt or others describe. There was just something about her that was shy and sweet.

"I suppose anyone would make comments about her." He mumbled.

Compared to other women, Hinata was quite enticing with her curvy shape and big chest. Her face held so much innocence, and her eyes- they were so caring and kind.

He paused and shook his head, rapidly, but no matter how much he shook his head, Hinata kept coming to mind.

A soft sigh escaped his lips, and then someone knocked on his door. "Come in." He said.

The light from the hallways slithered into his room and he saw Hinata standing by the doorway. "Do I have permission to come inside?"

Naruto leaned over and turned the lamp on. "Yes."

Hinata walked slowly inside and placed her hand on his forehead. Naruto's eyes wandered from her stomach to her breast which was in view. He hadn't realized how long he was holding his breath when Hinata stepped away from him.

"Your fever is down." She smiled. "When are you going to eat with us again?"

"Probably tomorrow." He mumbled.

"Are you okay, Naruto? I've tried speaking to Konohamaru, but he hasn't told me anything. Are you sure everything is fine between him and you? I know he said there isn't, but I don't believe him."

"Yes, Hinata. Everything is fine. We were just playing"

Naruto glanced up at her when Hinata grabbed his hands. She smiled brightly. "You had your head down when speaking to me."

Naruto felt his heart race when she held his arms and he didn't notice how small and soft her hands were compared to his.

"Naruto," She placed her hand on the side of his face and he gazed into her eyes. "Are you sure you're okay?"

He nodded slowly. "I'm fine."

"Good."

"If you're hungry please don't hesitate to give me a call. I'm going to bed now." Hinata tilted her head to the side when Naruto still held onto her hand. "Naruto?"

"Oh, I'm sorry." He let go. "Good night, Hinata."

"Good night." She whispered before leaving.

"Oh, Konohamaru. Please bring Naruto his tea. I need to get started with the clothes." Hinata said.

"Oh, why don't I do the clothes and you bring him his tea, Hinata," Konohamaru suggested.

Hinata giggled. "Don't be silly, Konohamaru. That's my job. Now go ahead." She said.

Konohamaru sighed in defeat as he had been trying to avoid Naruto for the past week. He held the tray and walked into the parlor where Naruto was sitting.

"Um, sir… your tea is ready." Konohamaru mumbled.

If looks could kill, Konohamaru would be dead. Naruto's eyes pierced deep into the boy's soul and he was still furious Konohamaru would say such a thing. He was upset about everyone assuming Hinata was this wench. Even Karin hinted at it and it troubled him deeply.

"Um, sir… I'm sorry," Konohamaru said. "I didn't mean it. Please believe me!"

Naruto scoffed. "If you didn't believe it, why would you say it?"

"It's just, I saw how close you two were. I just assumed and then the rumors a-a-and-"

Naruto stared blankly at Konohamaru and the boy shivered. "I have nothing more to say to you, but if you hurt Hinata, I will break you Konohamaru." Konohamaru stared at the man, unaware of how he should feel. He quivered in his boots as Naruto's eyes bore a hole into his body. The doorbell rang, but Konohamaru didn't budge. "Are you going to answer it or what?" Naruto snarled.

Konohamaru ran out of the room with his tail between his legs. He opened the door, and Sakura stared worriedly at the pale boy. "Hello, Konohamaru."

His bones stopped rattling and he bowed. "Good morning, Lady Sakura. How are you today?"

"I'm doing well. You on the other hand looked as if you had just seen a ghost," She giggled childishly. He scratched the side of his cheek. "Is Naruto or Hinata home?"

"Yes, ma'am. He's in the parlor." Konohamaru replied, stepping to the side.

Sakura stepped inside and turned to Konohamaru. "Do you ever get lonely?"

Konohamaru cocked his head to the side. "What do you mean?"

"Well, you're so young and you don't have anybody your age to play with. Don't you miss school?"

"Oh," A shadow cast over Konohamaru's face, "I'm fine working here because I would have been dead if it weren't for Hinata and Naruto," He said mumbling the last part. "I'll get Hinata for you," He left before she could say anything.

Sakura gazed at the boy sadly and headed towards the parlor room. Naruto raised his head and stared into Sakura's jaded eyes. The young lady placed her hand on her hip and glared at Naruto who was staring at her without a care in the world. Her right eye twitched and she shouted at him, "Don't you have any manners!?"

Naruto intertwined his fingers and smiled. "Why are you in my house?"

Sakura pinched the bridge of her nose and let out a loud groan. "We're going to the beach and I wanted to invite Hinata, Konohamaru, and you."

"You can take them. I'm still getting over my cold." Naruto brushed her off.

"Did Doctor Tsunade give you anything?" Sakura said, approaching the desk.

"She wasn't in apparently, with some other doctors."

Sakura placed her finger on her lips and hummed. "Oh yeah, Tsunade was out and some doctors had some seminar with the Hokage."

"Oh," Naruto said. "Is Sasuke going?"

Sakura blushed suddenly, and her eyes shimmered. "Yes,"

"You almost look feminine like that," Naruto remarked.

A tick formed on Sakura's head and she grabbed the boy his collar and shook him like a rag doll. She cursed at him repeatedly and Naruto's eyes spun like a top.

"Sakura," The timid voice spoke. "What are you doing to Naruto?"

Sakura dropped the man on the top of his head and turned sweetly to Hinata who was staring at Naruto with concern. "Hinata," Sakura said, gently taking Hinata's hand into her own. "How are you today?"

"I- I'm fine," She stuttered. "How are you doing today?"

"I'm fine," Sakura replied with smiling eyes. "Naruto has given you and Konohamaru the rest of the day off to join us to the beach. Will you come?"

"Na-

"Don't worry about your pay, Hinata. It's covered." Naruto brushed himself off. "You and Konohamaru enjoy the rest of the day off."

"Please say yes," Sakura pouted. "It will be nice to have you and him join us."

Hinata nodded shyly. "Naruto, sir… are you coming?"

"I'll stay here since I'm still feeling a little bit under the weather," Naruto replied. "Enjoy the rest of the day off, Hinata," Naruto said, brushing past the two girls.

"Hmph! Why is he so grumpy today?"

Hinata climbed up the stairs and knocked on the door quietly. Naruto opened the door slowly before revealing his room to her. The sky blue curtains danced with the wind and the garden came into view.

"Sakura can be very impatient. You should leave now."

Hinata's eyes focused on Naruto and she pouted. "Sir, you told a story. You're well now so why won't you come with us?"

"I'm just a little tired,"

"But you're going to be here all by yourself." She said, sadly. "Don't you get lonely?"

"I've been alone for some time. I can manage all by myself." Naruto told her.

Hinata looked down in disbelief. "Surely you don't mean that," She mumbled.

"Did you say something?" Naruto said, taking his seat on the edge of the bed.

She shook her head. "Do you need anything? I can make you something to eat before I leave."

"It's okay, Hinata. I'm fine. Please enjoy yourself." Naruto reassured her.

"But-

"Hinata," He said, giving her a faint smile. "Do I need to order you to have fun?"

"No- no sir."

"I'll see you later."

Hinata nodded slowly before closing the door behind her. She sighed mentally. If Naruto ordered it then so be it, but she still couldn't shake off the lonely feeling and Naruto being here all by himself. And she didn't believe him when he said he never got lonely. Everyone gets lonely, even her.

The smell of saltwater entered their nostrils and the clear water glistened as the sun beamed on it. Hinata wiggled her toes in the white sand and she cooed softly. It had been a long time since she had been to the beach for herself. Whenever she went to the beach, it was either taking care of the children or assisting Saya. She never realized how different the beach looked from the other side.

Sakura and Ino put some towels down near a tree, and Konohamaru was being chased by Akamaru up and down on the sand. She giggled slightly when she saw Kiba pointing and laughing at him.

"Hey,"

Hinata bowed when Sasuke approached her. "Good day, sir."

"No need to be formal," Sasuke brushed her off. "How is Naruto doing?"

"Oh, he had a cold recently, but he's doing fine now," Hinata said. "I wished he would have joined us."

Sasuke nodded, though his face looked the opposite from his agreement. The man always wore a stoic look on his face from what Hinata noticed. Even when she was in a frenzy about Naruto being left to fend for himself, he had the same look.

"How are you doing?"

"Oh," Hinata looked down briefly at the white sand. "I'm fine. Thank you for helping Naruto," She gazed into his charcoal eyes.

Sasuke's lip twitched and he gave her a forced smile. Had she really known Naruto was more than capable of handling himself, she would surely be terrified of the man. "It's my pleasure."

"What are you two talking about?"

Sasuke's skin crawled when both Sakura and Ino held onto each side of his arms.

"Hinata your beach jumper is so cute!" Sakura squealed. "Is that the latest design from Madam Yuuhi?" She pointed out. "Stripes look so cute on you."

"I've never noticed how large your breasts were, Hinata," Ino said.

Sasuke unconsciously stared at Hinata's chest and escaped Sakura and Ino's clutches. "I'll be over there," He mumbled as he made his way towards Kiba.

Kiba glanced over his shoulder when he heard somebody walking up towards him. "Yo,"

"Did you hear?"

Kiba's face lost all enthusiasm and he turned his gaze towards the glistening sea. "Yeah,"

"This is the only reason why I'm here," Sasuke said, viewing the ocean.

"I know," Kiba said, placing his arms behind his head. "Heard she was only fifteen," he grumbled.

"I warned Sakura and Ino to be on their toes. You know he's going to twist the narrative and do something that's going to bring the sand people into this." Sasuke narrowed his eyes. "Some of our soldiers participated in that and it's sick." He spat.

Kiba nodded. "It's a shame we can't even trust our own soldiers to protect our woman."

"You know what that means, right?" Sasuke gazed at him in the corner of his eyes.

Kiba couldn't help but sigh in defeat. "Yeah, I kind of expected it."

Ino grabbed Hinata's hand, gently, and pulled her towards the ocean's water. "I know you can't swim, so I won't take you far, okay?"

Hinata nodded and Ino led her into the foamy shore until they were a knee-deep. The salty water felt warm on her skin and the sand beneath her felt like marble. She covered her face when Ino splashed some water in her face, and she giggled childishly as she returned the favor. Sakura ran into the water and joined in the fun and they splashed one another until they were completely wet.

Konohamaru was going to approach the men when he stopped in his tracks.

"Hinata sure is beautiful, huh?" Kiba grinned. Sasuke rolled his eyes because he knew how much of a womanizer Kiba could be. "It's hard to believe he hasn't done anything."

Konohamaru turned red, and Sasuke scoffed. "It isn't. I won't even be surprised if the dobe knew how to use his dick."

Kiba slapped his knees. "You're right! Remember when I tricked him into going on the girl's side of the hot springs. I've never seen him so red."

Sasuke snickered slightly, and that's when Konohamaru went back to Akamaru who lied on the sand. Akamaru yawned and stuck his tongue out. His mind raced with different things, and he sighed. He flopped on the floor and pushed his back against the dog. Akamaru's soft fur made his back tickled, and Konohamaru couldn't help but rub his side.

Sakura shielded her way for the sun and spotted Konohamaru who looked all lonesome. Her body rushed through the water, and the sand stuck to her feet as she ran towards him. "Are you okay Konohamaru?" She said, bending over.

He pushed his knees against his chest and stared at the crystal sand. "I'm fine."

Sakura looked at the boy, worriedly, and plopped herself next to him. Akamaru gave her the side-eye before resting his snout on the sand. "Do you want to talk about it?"

Konohamaru shook his head. "I'm fine, honestly."

Sakura's eyes darted towards the sparkling sea and then towards Ino who was teaching Hinata how to swim. "Did you fight with Naruto?" There was an awkward silence and Sakura smiled. "Bingo."

"It isn't a big deal."

"He's a scrooge, Konohamaru and he doesn't know how to talk to people or how to treat them." She crossed his arms.

His pale toes wiggled in the sand and he shook his head once more. "I know, but it's my fault why I upset him. I said something I was supposed to."

"Was it something bad?"

A nod.

"Was about him?"

"I promised him I wouldn't say anything, and I didn't mean it, but I was just so upset." His eyes watered.

"It's okay, Konohamaru. It's okay if you don't want to talk about it, but it seems that it's eating you up."

"It is because I've been so ungrateful towards Hinata even after she saved and tended to my wounds."

Sakura hummed. "So, you said something bad about Hinata."

Konohamaru turned red as he had given himself away. "Please don't tell her." He squeaked. "I don't want to hurt her."

"I won't tell her anything, Konohamaru. Pinky promise." Sakura said giving him her pinky. He looked at it briefly before wrapping his pinky around hers.

He sighed and it felt a weight was just lifted off him. "I said something bad about Hinata, and in the heat of the moment I blew up on Naruto." His voice trembled. "I called her a whore," He squeezed his eyes shut, "and I know I shouldn't have but the rumors, and the way he looked at her and… and I saw something I shouldn't have and it all became so much to bare."

A light flickered in Sakura's eyes as she wondered what kind of things Konohamaru had seen. "And you didn't tell Hinata this, right?"

"No."

"I guess Naruto got pretty upset, huh?" Sakura said, hinting at the healing bruise on his cheek. "I can't say I blame you for feeling that way, Konohamaru."

"What do you mean, Lady Sakura?"

Sakura sighed inwardly. "I thought the same thing because of the rumors I too heard about Hinata, and I even questioned Naruto why his Aunt couldn't give him an older maid. Naruto is like a brother to me, and I just want what's best for him, so a younger maid was unsettling." She placed her hand into the sand and grabbed some of it. "I invited Hinata to my tea party to get to know her to make sure she wasn't up to anything sneaky, but I was gravely mistaken. When those girls spoke to her the way they did, made my heart broke because she had the saddest look in her eyes. I spent the entire night thinking about it, and even the next morning I was still on the fence," She shrugged. "But Hinata doesn't seem like the type, huh?"

Konohamaru shook his head.

"I was disgusted at my thought process and for allowing those rumors to get the best of my better judgment. I'm all too aware of what rumors do to a person's character."

His eyes began to water, and he quickly wiped them away. "I didn't mean to. Hinata is so beautiful and deserves the world. I can't believe I said something so vile and vulgar."

"Do you love Hinata, Konohamaru?"

Konohamaru chewed on the bottom of his lips until they turned red. "I- I honestly don't know. When I'm around her I get so happy, especially when I see her smile. She has such a kind heart and is caring. Not to mention beautiful," He muttered out. "I don't think I can be the kind of man Hinata needs, not yet that is." He curled his toe into the sand. "Have you ever loved someone, Lady Sakura? I suppose you have. After all, you're quite beautiful."

Sakura blushed by the comment. "I do actually," She said, dreamily. "Every time I'm around him, I can't help but hold my heart because I'm afraid it's going to fall into the pits of my stomach. I'm working on myself to be the kind of woman he needs before I confess my love to him."

A small smile graced Konohamaru's face and he nodded. "I'm rooting for you," He grinned. Sakura's eyes widened slightly as Konohamaru had resembled Naruto briefly.

She looked down sadly and hugged her knees. "I know Naruto can make people feel unwanted, Konohamaru. He can even be a real scrooge, but I believe he cares for you and Hinata. The old Naruto I know would have left Hinata without a job. I believe Naruto has grown fond of you and Hinata and was quite disappointed when you said such a thing."

Konohamaru felt his lower lip trembling and his voice cracked. "I don't want him to hate me."

"Just give him some time, Konohamaru."

"Konohamaru!"

Both he and Sakura gazed at Hinata who was running towards him. She placed her hand on her knees and tried to catch her breath. "A-are you okay?"

"Oh, yes I'm fine! I-I- I was just talking to Sakura." His cheeks turned a rosy color as his eyes could not gaze away from Hinata who glistened in the sun. Her eyes captivated his soul and his heart skipped a beat every so often.

"Oh," He was taken back when Hinata placed his small hand on his forehead. "Your face is a little red. I hope you didn't catch Naruto's cold."

Konohamaru shook his head and Hinata drew her hand back. "I'm fine, honestly."

"Ne, let's enjoy the rest of our day," Sakura said, brushing the sand from her buttocks. She held her hand out for Hinata to grab and gave her the other hand to Konohamaru. Hinata took Sakura's hand and was surprised to discover it was so soft and squishy. Konohamaru also grabbed Sakura's hand and she lifted them both up. "Come on," She said pulling them towards to sparkling water.

At this very moment, she was happy. Her eyes searched each person that was there and was delighted she was able to be a part of something so special. Then her mind suddenly went to Naruto. He was left alone while she was here having fun with his friends. Her happiness quickly left when she thought about the man. 'I wonder what he's doing now.'

The sky turned orange and pink swirls painted it. The afternoon breeze was crisp and gentle with the trees rustling as they walked past them.

"Oh, Hinata," Sakura said, looking inside her bag. She pulled a red velvet book and handed it to Hinata. Hinata looked oddly at the book than Sakura. "It's a really good book. I thought you would enjoy it." She smiled. Hinata took the book and held onto it gently. "It's a book about a princess who falls in love with her prince charming." Sakura cooed. "It wa so romantic," She clasped her hands together.

"A princess," She mumbled, staring at the red velvet-covered book.

"Yeah! The way she described her was so lovely and you came to mind." Sakura boasted.

"Me?"

Sakura giggled. "Yes! Her hair resembled that of the night sky," She quoted. "It's such a dreamy book and just know you will enjoy it."

"Every girl secretly dreams about their prince charming," Ino mentioned. "What's your prince charming like, Sakura?"

Sakura placed her finger over her lips and smiled cheerfully. "He's tall, dark hair and handsome." Ino shook her head as she knew exactly who her friend was describing. "He's strong and is willing to put his life on the line for me." Kiba gave Sasuke the side-eye and he snickered when the man gave him a side glance.

"I wonder who that can be," Kiba sang. Ino punched him on his back and the boy almost stumbled over. Ino squinted her eyes when she saw two figures standing in front of Naruto's gate. "What is she doing here?" Ino mumbled.

Sakura shrugged her shoulder. "She isn't that bad Ino. Antionette is nice and sweet. She reminds me of Hinata,"

"Me?" Hinata said, tilting her head the side.

"Don't compare Hinata to that girl. I know trouble when I see it, and right now she's trouble." Ino replied, sourly. "I won't be surprised if she's trying to pursue him."

"Ino!" Sakura cried. "Why would you think that about her?"

"Because everyone knows Naruto received a sum of his father's large fortune once he died. Naruto is almost at that age where he's going to get the rest of it, including any lands, and estates his father owned. Need I mentioned his mother's wealth? She's an Uzumaki, meaning she has riches in Uzushiogakure. Naruto is swimming in money and has the governors on his side since his father was attached to the Third Hokage."

Hinata's eyes widened in disbelief. She didn't know how much of a man Naruto truly was. He could make such a change in Konoha if he tried.

"Antionette, what brings you here?" Sakura asked the smallish girl. "Oh, you have such a cute dress today."

Antionette turned and bowed. "Thank you," She smiled. "I invited Naruto to lunch some time ago, and he finally took me up on my offer," She said, sweetly. "I just wanted to thank him before making my leave." Naruto glanced at the group quickly, then at Hinata who stared at him. "It's such a shame he was left here all alone with no supper, but don't worry. I saved the day." She giggled. "I'll get going now."

Antionette turned to Naruto and bowed. "Have a nice day, Naruto." She waved at him before walking down the road.

Hinata felt a pang in her heart and she couldn't help but look down. Why did he lie to her? She could have cooked him something before leaving. "Thank you for inviting Konohamaru and me to the beach today," Hinata said, catching Sakura's attention. "I'll make sure I read the book you gave me, Sakura. Please stay safe," She bowed.

Sakura smiled meekly as she noticed the sadness in Hinata's eyes.

Hinata walked from the group and bowed to Naruto respectfully. Good evening, sir." She said, before walking through the gates.

Konohamaru also thanked them and bowed respectfully to Naruto before he quickly followed behind Hinata.

"Kiba, go ahead and make sure Ino and Sakura reach home safely. I need to speak with Naruto, briefly."

Kiba nodded and he ushered the girls away before they could object. He knew all too well that they wanted to know the intimated details between Antionette and Naruto.

Sasuke placed his arms behind his back as he and Naruto strolled throughout his mother's garden. The two stayed quiet until they were a little way from Naruto's house.

"Did you hear what happened?" Sasuke turned to face his best friend.

Naruto stared at his friend with an expressionless look, and that deeply concerned Sasuke although he did not show it. "Heard about what?"

"You may want to keep a close eye on Hinata because there were some soldiers who sodomize a fifteen-year-old girl in front of the statue of the Third Hokage," Sasuke spoke. "This happened a few days ago, but I guarantee you it won't make the newspaper."

"Oh."

Sasuke was taken back from the lack of response. "They were our soldiers, Naruto."

Naruto frowned. "I understand. It's quite alarming, isn't it?"

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Naruto said, shrugging. "I- He shook his head. "I'll keep a close eye on Hinata."

Sasuke ran his fingers through his jet-black hair and nodded. "We may have to fight our people when the time comes, Naruto."

"I know. I know." Naruto mumbled.

Sasuke placed his hand on Naruto's shoulder and stared into his eyes. "What did you learn from your visit today?"

"Nothing alarming, but Danzo made his presence known," Naruto added.

"I knew those people were strange, but you know you must continue to be on his good side, right? I know how much you hate it, but-

"I know," Naruto said, his head lowered.

"You're almost at that age where you'll claim your inheritance. What are you going to do?"

"I don't know," Naruto whispered. "I just want this to end."

"Me too, Naruto," Sasuke replied just as softly. "You look tired. Maybe you should skip this meeting and rest. I'll let Itachi know."

"Thank you," He turned his back on him and was about to walk away when Sasuke called him.

"Naruto, you know you can tell me what's going on through your mind, right?"

Naruto glanced over his shoulder and smiled. "I know. Thank you."

The house was quiet when he walked in, and he spotted Hinata who was dusting in the parlor room. Feeling somebody staring at her, she turned around and saw Naruto by the door.

Hinata bowed. "Do you need anything from me, sir?"

"Did you have fun? Were they nice to you?" He pressed his finger against the wall and leaned forward in the room.

"Yes, sir. Ino taught me how to swim and she even complimented my swimsuit."

Naruto cracked a smile that startled Hinata at first. "That's nice to hear. So, you know how to swim now?"

His smile made her smile faintly and she shook her head. "Not entirely but I'm still learning."

"That's good. I'm going to sleep. Please don't make too much noise."

"So early? Are you still feeling sick?" She approached him and placed her hand on his forehead. It was warm, but nothing too alarming.

"I'm just a little fatigue." His eyes were low, and he covered his mouth when he yawned.

Hinata pouted unknowingly. She didn't get to see him most of the day, and now he was already going to sleep.

"Please bring me some green tea."

"Yes, sir."

"I want you to bring it." He said once more before heading upstairs.

Hinata knocked softly on the door, then pushed it opened once not getting a response. She walked inside and her eyes drifted to Naruto who was sleeping, softly on the bed. She walked over and placed the teacup on the dresser beside him as quietly as she could. However, his eyes fluttered, and he'd look like an innocent child startled from their sleep.

"I'm sorry!" Hinata said, bowing. "I tried to be as quiet as I could, sir." She quickly covered her mouth when she noticed she yelled.

Naruto rubbed his eyes and leaned up slightly. "My tea?"

"Yes, sir," Hinata said, handing him the handless cup.

"Thank you," He said, taking it.

"I didn't mean to startle you, sir."

"No, it's okay. I was waiting for you, but I ended up falling asleep." Naruto replied, sipping on the tea occasionally.

"So, since you've learned to swim will you be going to the beach more?"

"If I have time, but right now I have to take care of you," Hinata responded.

"You can have fun still," Naruto frowned. "You don't have to worry about me."

"It's my job," Hinata said. "Sir, forgive me if I sound rude, but… I offered to make you supper, yet you went to Lady Antionette's house for supper. Is my food not to your liking?"

"Oh, no I enjoy your food more than Ichiraku, but I had to visit her and her family. Please don't pay mind to it."

"Family? Oh, do you plan on courting her?" Hinata suddenly asked. Why else would a man visit a woman and her family unless they were good friends or planned on courting?

"No," Naruto said, flatly. "Does it look that way?" Hinata remained quiet. "I suppose as I am almost at that age where I'll need to find a wife."

"She's really beautiful, sir and she seems kind."

"Does she? I haven't noticed," He replied.

Hinata covered her mouth to suppress her giggles. "She is sir."

"I honestly don't see it. She reminds me of a pup with a lot of hair. You're prettier than her, Hinata and kinder."

Hinata looked down and blushed deeply. "T-thank you."

"I guess I should be on my way," Hinata said. "Do you need anything else, sir?"

"Yes," He said, quietly. She tilted her head to the side as she waited for him to continue speaking. "Never mind. You can leave." He said, laying back down.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. Good night."

If there was anything Hinata loved, it was reading. However, due to her recent job status, prohibited her from doing so. She was grateful for Sakura being so kind and giving her this book. She spent the entire night reading. Each time she tried to put away the book and get some shut-eye, draw her back because she wanted to know how it ended.

"and they sealed their fate with a kiss."

Her delicate fingers brushed the page and she sighed dreamily as she was thrown into a world of happiness and pleasure with her prince charming. Spending her life without a care in the world, dancing, attending orchestras, and exploring the world with her beloved.

She sighed once more and allowed her imagination to run wild.

A field of roses came into view and princess Hinata stared in awe at the sea of scented roses. Her bare feet danced in the grass as she picked the roses one by one and spun around by a soft melody playing in the background.

The guards watched from a distance as the young girl enjoyed her time outside. She leaned over to pick up some more roses when she noticed some boots came into view. Her eyes traveled up the long legs and her heart skipped a beat as a handsome creature gazed at her with loving eyes.

He cracked a smile as his warm fingers caressed her cheek, and she handed him a bouquet of roses.

"For you, sir."

The man took the roses and smelt them before he beamed with joy. "Thank you."

She lowered her head and her tug upwards. He placed his hand on her cheek and lifted her head and her eyes widened when she realized who the creature was.

"What am I thinking?" She scattered to her feet and closed the book harshly. Her eyes gazed at the velvet red cover, and she placed her hand over her chest. It was unintentional and she couldn't understand the reason Naruto would come to mind. He wasn't a prince, far from it to be exact. There were days he would be nice, but the man didn't know how to speak or treat a lady.

She shook her head and began to take off her kimono. Sleep was what she needed. She quickly tucked herself under the blanket and she stared at the ceiling. Her face suddenly turned red when she remembered that night after the party.

Hinata patted herself on the cheeks and turned on her side. Why was she so worked up? It wasn't her first time any of her masters had kissed her. They always seemed to be on a roll and conquer what wasn't theirs. And it wasn't entirely his fault. He had a little too much to drink, and ever since he hadn't made any advances like the rest of them.

Tsunade was scribbling on some scrolls when there was a knock on the door. She looked up and before she could speak, Naruto entered her office.

"I didn't tell you to come in." She said, slightly annoyed.

"I know," Naruto sighed. "but I haven't been feeling well lately, Tsunade."

Her eyes suddenly turned into concern and she got up. "What do you mean? Are you sick?"

Naruto sat on the chair and shrugged. "When you were out, I caught a cold from getting wet. Hinata nursed me, so I'm feeling better, but I'm just concern about a few things that have been happening to my body."

"What's going on?" She asked. "Did you eat Saya's food again? You know she doesn't know how to cook, and you almost died due to food poisoning."

Naruto shook his head. "No, but- my heart skips a beat and I get this weird feeling in my stomach like something moving around."

Hearing this made Tsunade deeply concerned as she thought about the different diseases the boy could have possibly gotten. "Have you been eating anything out of the ordinary?"

"No. I eat the same thing I've always eaten and whatever Hinata's cook for me." Naruto replied.

"When did you notice these symptoms?" Tsunade asked.

"A few weeks ago. I'm not afraid of anything but it is becoming quite bothersome." He frowned.

"We're going to have to run some blood test and I'm going to need some of your urine samples," Tsunade said, walking over to a cupboard. She grabbed a plastic cup and wrote his name on it.

"Okay. Do you think Hinata has done something to me?" Tsunade turned around and rose her eyebrow. "Well, this all started with her. Maybe she has done something to my food, but yet again she doesn't give off that energy." He frowned. "I would hate to think she's doing something to my food because this only happens when I'm with her."

Tsunade turned around and pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration. "So, your heart skips a beat and you feeling something in your stomach? And this only happens around Hinata?"

Naruto nodded. "She's kind and honest, so I don't want to believe she would hurt me. Yet again, she was sent by my aunt to take care of me." He shook his head.

"Did this happen in the beginning when she first arrived?"

"No," His eyes cast down. "Like I said this has been happening for a few weeks now."

Tsunade crossed her arm and shook her head. This was a story worth telling for ages. "I'm going to hold off on the blood and urine test." She said, throwing away the cup.

"Why?"

"Because we already did one a month ago because of the headaches you've been getting, and we didn't find anything out of the ordinary." She sat in the chair. "Naruto, you're fine and maybe you're too dense to notice," She shook her head.

"Hey!" He shouted. "What is that supposed to mean?"

"Brat, you're fine and although I don't know much about Hinata, she seems sweet and kind and she is very patient with you. I don't believe you have anything to worry about." Tsunade chatted.

"Well, you are the doctor so I can only go by your judgment." He said, standing up. "And I know I don't have anything to worry about Hinata. She isn't capable of being selfish."

Once the blonde left, Tsunade turned around her chair and watched as he walked out of her office window. The young man was too dense to understand what was going on and she almost laughed out loud. She remembered the same incident happening to a young red hair girl.

"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." She laughed once more.

Konohamaru watched the trees wave back and forth while he was outside doing some work in the garden. Naruto hadn't spoken to him since the invitation to the beach and would ignore him at all costs. He always called for Hinata and even overheard him requesting specifically for her. Who was to blame him? He had some awful things about Hinata without knowing the entire story and allowed the words of others to sway his mind about the sweet woman.

Naruto was kind enough to do so many things for him. He took him in, gave him a place to rest, provided clothes, meals, and pay for only a small time of his day. Now, he had ruined all of that and it just wasn't the same. Sakura said Naruto would forgive him, but he didn't see that happening.

There were so many things about him Konohamaru didn't know and was surprised to find out he held ties to the governors because of his father. Naruto was a mystery and Konohamaru had offended someone who "put up with him".

He threw the mini garden shovel on the ground and marched into the house.

Naruto placed his hand on his cheeks as he was watching the birds fly outside his window. Hinata was tidying up, and he felt bored. He contemplated a few times messing with her, but she scolded him, saying that work needed to be done and something about her duty.

He groaned loudly. The house was already spotless, so what else did she need to clean?

"Sir," Konohamaru said, barging into the parlor room, and then closing the door behind him. "I need to speak with you."

"Try again," Naruto said, brushing him off. "I'm busy."

A few seconds had passed, and Naruto noticed he did not hear his door close. He glanced up and saw Konohamaru standing there.

"I am busy. Leave. Now." Naruto said, in a daring voice.

"I need to speak to you," Konohamaru replied.

"I have nothing to say to you. You're very disrespectful." He said, narrowing his eyes. "How dare you march in here and demand you speak to me."

"I need to speak to you," Konohamaru said, not budging.

"After I give you forty licks?"

Konohamaru's legs trembled, and he gulped. "If you wish to deal with me physically then I shall not object, however, I need to speak with you." He balled his fist. "Should I get a switch from the tree?"

Naruto slammed his hands on the table and glared at Konohamaru. "You're trying my patience, little boy. What do you want?"

"I want you to forgive me," Konohamaru shouted back. "I know what I said was wrong, but please forgive me." He clasped his hands together. "You've done so much for me, and I have no intention of throwing that away. You're somebody I want to look up to."

The chair made a squeaky noise when Naruto sat back down. His eyes were sharped and stared at Konohamaru like an intruder.

"Sir," Konohamaru said stepping into the danger zone. "You know how much I care for Hinata. She saved me and she didn't have to. She almost lost her job because of me, right? I was so caught up in my feelings and what people had to say that the truth has always been there in front of me." No word. "Sir, you said you and I were similar that day at the staircase. Perhaps you shared the same thoughts I did." Konohamaru swallowed the lump and he noticed Naruto's eyes flickered then turned soft when he said those words. He knew he was pushing it, but, "Perhaps you and I shared those same thoughts, but you saw how hurt she was when you said such a thing. Maybe you saw you in me." He stepped once more until he reached the brown desk. "I don't know the whole story, but I assume Hinata had not always been here for you, but I can tell she cares for you just as she does anybody she crosses path with. You saw someone who was vulnerable and couldn't stand getting hurt again." Konohamaru bowed. "I'm sorry. Please- please forgive me."

Several minutes had past and Konohamaru still had his head lowered as Naruto did not utter a word. He was prepared to pack what he came here with and leave. Maybe Hinata would be heartbroken when he left, but it was better this way than for her to learn those horrible words he said about her.

"You're a sneaky bastard, huh?" Naruto grumbled. Konohamaru raised his head and saw Naruto tapping his fingers against the desk. "The difference between you and I is that you believe Hinata was one, I said it to be an ass and was deeply troubled when I saw her how hurt she was. Would you like to see her hurt expression when something like that is said to her?"

Konohamaru shook his head. "No. I don't want to see Hinata get hurt, sir."

"I guess I overreacted about the situation." Naruto sighed. "I didn't want to see her get hurt by the person she cares so much for. You owe Hinata a whole lot Konohamaru because she almost lost her job defending you."

"I know." He whispered. "Can you forgive me?"

Naruto gave him the side-eye, and Konohamaru broke out in a cold sweat. "It isn't me you insulted but Hinata."

"But those words hurt you too. I assumed you were… doing things with her." He let out.

Naruto stared strangely at the boy. "Why would you think that? I've never done anything with Hinata." Konohamaru chewed his lip, and Naruto spat impatiently, "Spit it out."

"I see the way you look at her. I mean she is pretty and you're always watching her," He mumbled the last part. This was new to Naruto and he hadn't noticed he did that. "And- Konohamaru's face turned red. "I saw you two in the wash house a few weeks ago… a-a-an-and your clothes were all over the floor."

Now it made sense as to why Konohamaru would think such a thing. "Oh that," He said, unbothered. "We got trapped in the washhouse and was soaking wet, so I told Hinata to take off her clothes so she wouldn't catch a cold. Unfortunately, after being warned I was the one that ended up with one."

"Oh," Konohamaru mumbled. "It seems I misunderstood the entire situation."

"Entirely."

"Are you still upset with me?"

"I am still a little upset, but I won't be surprised if you hear more rumors worse than the ones you've heard before. You know how the countrymen like to gossip."

"Yes sir. I am quite aware."

"A-

"Sir," Hinata said, knocking on the door.

"You may come in."

Hinata stepped inside and bowed, disregarding Konohamaru who stepped to the side.

"Yes?"

"You have a visitor,"

Naruto glanced at the door and he looked at the figure that stood behind Hinata. "Nagato?"

Review. Please. Thank you.

AN: Do you notice when a man gets sick, they instantly become so feeble and child-like? They spend their entire sickness stuck to your side until they're better. Thank you for the reviews!

I am looking for a BETA. I've posted my request on the forums, but no fishes are catching. If anybody knows somebody willing or even yourself, please message me. Of course, I would need to see a sample of your work.

Thank you!
