Want to sing any song(s) from this musical? Feel free! Just please, give me some credit, even if you edit the lyrics. Thanks =)
Also! Sometimes, I will provide narration of events that happen before/after the song just to provide context. These will be presented not as stage directions (those are too clipped for these purposes, but really, who would consider performing this as an actual musical?) but rather as robo-narration; which means I will stay out of the character's heads and only describe what they do and say.
Though, if people really want stage directions… I've never done them before, but I could try?
Note: The 000 means a break in the song, essentially representing the space between stanzas. Blame ffnet for their awkward formatting.
The song can be found on youtube labeled "No Voiceover".
Featuring Mom, Chorus, and the voice from above
[Chorus hums]
Once, Isaac and his mom lived happily
But evil would soon weave a tragedy
[pause]
Their home was once filled with love
Until He revealed sin undreamed of
[pause]
000
One day his holy light came shining through
He said "This is what you must do"
"Yes!"
"That child is filled with evil
"He will not belong in my cathedral"
"But Lord, what's a mother to do"
"Remove all things of darkness and voodoo"
"Yes, Lord, I will do my best
"My son will pass your divine test!"
"Good, my shepherd, my saint
"Now, purify him, show no restraint!"
000
So she threw away those corrupted objects
For reasons Isaac figured were too complex
He shivered by his mother's side
As a second time, she spoke to her guide
000
"The boy is still corrupted
"He must be isolated, uninterrupted!"
[pause]
000
So Isaac was locked in his room, horrified his evil had grown
He cried then, scared and alone
000
But then he heard the third calling
The order that Mom was to slay him without stalling
As she burst in, wielding a knife
He uncovered a strange trapdoor and jumped for his life
[Down… down… down… ]
I ended up calling the voice… well, the voice because 1. Some people take offense to G*d's name being written, and even though this game seems anti-religion at first, it's really not, and I want as many people to enjoy the musical as possible; and 2. We actually don't know what the voice is. It could be a religious figure (good or bad), it could be paranormal, it could just be in Mom's head. So I left it ambiguous.
